USE UP YOUR STASH CHALLENGE 2011 – Session 2 of 3
(July 1 2011 - Sep 31 2011 for 2nd session)

Sign Up At Any time – No cutoffs.

The Rules:

1. Use the suggested categories or add categories of your own, list your stash within 5 days of joining the challenge. If you have a REALLY Big stash, put in a little at a time. But keep your list updated with the products used, given away, exchanged, etc.

Posting a starting pic of your stash is optional. You can then update this "place holder" as we go along with details of what you have used, sold, exchanged and given away.

2. For each category you can include 1 item for a staple. Mark this item. You can purchase 1 staple item per category to have 1 on hand without using a pass. If you stock up on staples anything beyond 1 item must be put in your stash list.

3. Participants are allowed 1 product purchase per month

4. Participants get a 1 item pass for each length goal reached and 1 item pass for their birthday.

5. The idea is to decrease your stash not increase it. You are free to swap, sell, throw away and give away products to your heart’s content as long as the stash is "decreasing". Remember you can also raid your kitchen for supplies. The idea is to be reasonable so be as creative as you like in how you use up your stash. You are also not bound to use products, which clearly are not working for you. The aim is to be reasonable and realize that we do not need to buy so much stuff but rather be more disciplined with our regiments and learn to establish our staples by actually using the stuff instead of continually buying more !!!

6. Also please check in every 2 weeks to let us all know how it is going and to get support so you do not fall off the challenge.

7. If you fall off the wagon, update your stash list and get back in the game. The idea is to encourage better spending habits, make wise product purchases and to gain discipline in our regimens.

8. Define your goal for the session.
Ex: to use up X products
Ex: to use up 40% of my products
Ex: to have 1 shampoo, 2 conditioners, 3 styling products
[Fill in your goal]

Paste the following info if you’re up for the challenge

1. What are your motivations for joining this challenge?

2. List the products you hope to use up in your stash. Use your own categories.

Suggested Categories:
- Shampoos
- Conditioners
- Deep Conditioners
- Leave Ins/Moisturizers
- Oils & Essential Oils & Butters
- Herbal & Ayurvedic Products
- Styling products
- Other

3. Post a Pic of your "Stash". (Optional)

4. What are your goal(s) for the session
i.e. – reduce my stash by 20%
i.e. – to have 1 shampoo, 2 conditioners, 3 styling products, etc.
[Fill in your goal]

(If you sign up, I will be updating the list every 2 to 3 days)

What are your motivations for joining this challenge?

- I have more products than I would like to have currently.

List the products you hope to use up in your stash.

- Okay, this is only a list of what I'm hoping to use up. It's not everything since I might give away some and others are staples. I'll make updates with what I gave away that's not listed but instead of listing everything I hope to just show pictures to document how much my stash has shrunken or grown. Laziness ftw.

* Shampoo: Aussie Moist Shampoo

* Conditioners: Yes To Cucumbers Colour Care Conditioner, Aubrey Organics White Camellia, Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise, and Motions Moisture Plus Conditioner

* Oils: Coconut Oil, Safflower Oil, Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Nourishing Sheen Spray

Post a Pic of your "Stash".

- See below for past stash picture and current stash picture.

What are your goals for the session?

- To reduce my stash to 3-5 products that I use consistently. 1 shampoo, 1 scalp treatment, 2 protein conditioners/treatments, 1 moisturizing conditioner/treatment.

What are your motivations for joining this challenge?

I've been a PJ since 2007. I've gotten a pretty good handle on my splurges and binges, but I could still do better than I have been. While I do tend to keep products low, I alway smanage to pick up a product or two that makes no sense. I think, "Why did I buy that?":spinning: I just need to be more disciplined.

2. A list of the products you hope to be using up in your stash? (I went nuts before I got started, so my list is longer. I still have one more thing to get before I start. Sad, I know, but I want my staple leave in JIC the other one doesn't work.

- Shampoos (Current: 4 Goal: 2)

1. Shikakai shampoo bars (2)- Staple, but I dilute the shampoo bar and make my own shampoo. I really want to switch to castille soap after these are gone. more convenient.
2.Olive Oil Creamy Aloe shampoo (Sample pack)

3. Mizani True Textures Curl Balance Shampoo (Sample)
4. Mizani True Textures Cleansing Cream (Sample size)

- Conditioners

Prepoo/Cowash/Treatment Conditioners (Current: 5 Goal: 3)
5. Roux PC Condi
6. Home Health Chamovera Cream Rinse Condi
7. Bumble and Bumble creme de coco (travel size)
8. AO HSR - Staple
9. Nature's Gate Biotin Strengthening Conditioner

- Deep Conditioners (Current: 5 Goal:3)

10. Vitale Super Reconstructor Conditioner - Staple Protein
11. Mizani True Textures Curl Replenish (Sample)
12. Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm - Sample Size
13. Matrix Biolage Intensive strengthening Masque
14. NTM Recovery Mask- Staple

- Leave Ins/Mosturizers (Current: 6, Goal: 3)

15. Aquelle Healing Conditioner- It's a regular conditioner, but I use as a leave in because it's so light and doesn't build up.
16. Mizani True Textures Moisture Stretch Leave in (Sample)
17. Africa's Best Braid sheen spray
18. Wave Nouveau Moisturizing Finishing Lotion- Staple
19. Ion Deep Repair Leave in Treatment
20. Mizani coconut souffle

- Oils & Essential Oils & Butters (No Goals)

21. Argan Oil
22. Jojoba Oil
23. Coconut Oil
24. Bhrami Oil
25. Amla Oil
26. Sweet Almond oil
27. Orange Oil
28. Seyani Hair Butter x 2
29. Shea Butter
30. Grapeseed oil
31. Wheat Germ Oil

- Herbal & Ayurvedic Products - (I consider all of these staples because I mix them with my diluted shampoo bars to make my own shampoo. My scalp is very picky with shampoos and I’ve achieved the best results using this method.)

32. Hennara Powder
33. Maka Powder
34. Brahmi Powder
35. Amla Powder

Styling products (Current: 4 Goal?) -I don't think I'll make much progress here. I'm in braids so straightening and the like probably won't be happening.

36. JCS Wrap & Roll
37. Sallys GVP Smoothing Balm (Paul Mitchell)
38. Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss
39. One N Only Argan Oil Oil Treatment

– Other
40.Liquid Keratin BKT Treatment kit- (I don’t know why I bought it, but I did…)
41. Rose Water
42. Aloe Vera Juice

3. Post a Pic of your "Stash". (Optional)

4. Which session(s) you are joining. (go slow ladies and be realistic)?

I’m for Session 2. I think I’ll be able to weed out/up most of my nonsense products. Here’s hoping…

5. My starting amount is 42 products. My goals are posted next to each category. Ideally, I'd like to reduce my stash by about 10 products or more.

Ok last night I was mixing and mixing and mixing and ended up mixing up a mess. It was pretty bad. Liquid on the bottom and a foam mess on the top. Nowhere near the cream substance I was trying to make

Separated off the liquid and used the rest. :ohwell: You live and you learn.

I did use up the HydraThermal Naturals heat glosser spray or whatever that is. Installing Kinky Twist this weekend so will hopefully use up my Mango Butter. We will see.

Used up the first product of this session- NTM foam leave in. It was great in the beginning of my natural journey, but not so much towards the end. I think I do better with creamy leave ins.

I need to get back to doing my henna treatments: LeKair Cholesterol Plus is what I mix it with and Salon Care Honey and Almond Conditioner is what I use to rinse it out with.

Hopefully this will be gone 7/16, it will be 1 week post relaxer and in need of a protein treatment to rebuild.

Im making plans for these products cause I need more to be gone get cycle.

@YoursTrulyRE, you wanna get rid of one of those bottles of JBCO, I never had it and wanna use it on my scalp and see how that goes.:yep:
Send me a price if your willing

ms_b_haven06....I would love to share but I got those bottles at a steal of a deal (3 bottles for $30 shipping included).

JBCO is a staple :lick: and hard as heck to find in Georgia. So when I find a good deal I stock up bc I may not find it local anytime soon and just can't imagine paying $10 + $6 for shipping per bottle from the website or $15 - $18 dollars in stores :nono:.

If I come across a deal again I will be sure to pick up an extra bottle for you!!

I wanna Join!

1. What are your motivations for joining this challenge?

When I first Join here, I was so excited that I went online and bought alot of products to experiment! Spent alot of money and I want to reduce the amount i spend and find great stable products.

2. List the products you hope to use up in your stash. Use your own categories.

- Shampoos
Janelle Beauty Shampoo- Dive Smooth (I was a big sucker, would never do it again)

- Conditioners
Suave- 3 bottles
*1 Conditioner is mixed with Henna and Oils

- Deep Conditioners
Suave mixed with mango and avocado butter and oils
ApHogee 2 min and 2 part

- Leave Ins/Moisturizers
Giovanni Leave in
A homemade leave I made
2 Bear Fruit leave ins

- Oils & Essential Oils & Butters
Mango Butter
Avocado Butter
Shea Butter
Peppermint EO
Lavendar EO
Tea Tree EO
EVOO Oil
EVCO Oil
Brahmi Amla Hair Oil
Bhringraj Hair Oil
Jojoba Oil
JBCO
Dabur Vatika Hair Oil

I mixed the 2 butter together, and mixed all the oils together to get rid of excess bottles, except the JCBO, Jojoba and Vatika Oil.

- Herbal & Ayurvedic Products
9 Henna Soog samples
2 Godrej Nupur Henna Mehandi 9 Herbs Blend

- Styling products

- Other
Megatrek
Sulf Powder
Biotin Pills
Glycerine
Wig/Weave spray

Lotioncrafter items
Honeyquat PF
NeoDefend
Aloe Gel
Vitamin E
DL-Panthenol
BTMS
Silk Amino Acids

3. Post a Pic of your "Stash". (Optional)

4. What are your goal(s) for the session
My Goal is to Have only one shampoo, conditioner and conditioner-in leave at a time since I keep my hair in protective styles of sew-ins, and wigs its point less to have so many bottles under my cabinet and people saying when do you use this stuff and I actually have to take a moment to think cuz my hair has been in a sew-in for 3 months!

*Use up my growth aid of Megtrek, JBCO and Sulfur mix and use no more growth aids. Find 3 oils that my hair loves and stick with them.

*Use up my products for making homemade leave-in and then buy one bottle at a time.

Reduce my stash- 1 shampoo bar, 1 Conditioner, 1 Leavin-in, 3 Oils

Yep that's about normal. But I'm a college student on a budget so I try to find deals whenever possible. So I stalk :look: I mean check the Hair Exchange board frequently for girls selling them for cheaper. Or wait until an online vendor has free shipping or something.
