USE UP YOUR STASH CHALLENGE 2011 – Final Session 3 of 3
(Oct. 1 2011 - Dec 31 2011)

The Rules:

1. Use the suggested categories or add categories of your own, list your stash within 5 days of joining the challenge. If you have a REALLY Big stash, put in a little at a time. But keep your list updated with the products used, given away, exchanged, etc.

Posting a starting pic of your stash is optional. You can then update this "place holder" as we go along with details of what you have used, sold, exchanged and given away.

2. For each category you can include 1 item for a staple. Mark this item. You can purchase 1 staple item per category to have 1 on hand without using a pass. If you stock up on staples anything beyond 1 item must be put in your stash list.

3. Participants are allowed 1 product purchase per month

4. The idea is to decrease your stash not increase it. You are free to swap, sell, throw away and give away products to your heart’s content as long as the stash is "decreasing". The aim is to be reasonable and realize that we do not need to buy so much stuff but rather be more disciplined with our regiments and learn to establish our staples by actually using the stuff instead of continually buying more !!!

6. Also please check in every 2 weeks to let us all know how it is going and to get support so you do not fall off the challenge.

7. If you fall off the wagon, update your stash list and get back in the game. The idea is to encourage better spending habits, make wise product purchases and to gain discipline in our regimens.

Paste the following info if you’re up for the challenge

1. What are your motivations for joining this challenge?

2. List the products you hope to use up in your stash. Use your own categories.

Suggested Categories:
- Shampoos
- Conditioners
- Deep Conditioners
- Leave Ins/Moisturizers
- Oils & Essential Oils & Butters
- Herbal & Ayurvedic Products
- Styling products
- Other

3. Post a Pic of your "Stash". (Optional)

4. What are your goal(s) for the session
i.e. – reduce my stash by 20%
i.e. – to have 1 shampoo, 2 conditioners, 3 styling products, etc.
[Fill in your goal]

I hope this challenge continues throughout 2012 (til the end of 2012). I think even by June 2012 i would be in a really good place product wise.

Didn't do too well in the last session, but getting my focus back. I removed some the oils, since I have been using them for mostly body.

My goal is to really stop buying products before I finish what I have, and save my money! And realizing I do not need so much stuff.

I will have a haul in November - Black Friday/Cyber Monday since I purchased some Aveyou vouchers to use as a b-day gift to myself.

I may be adding to my stash this week and this month. I dunno. We have 2nd street festival this weekend and then we are having Happily Natural Day again on the 22nd. I like to buy my products local so I may be stocking up on some home made products. :yep:

I don't mind buying a few things this way now that I know what to look for.

Welcome to ladies: I have added all of you to the challenger list.

With the steaming challenge and the HOT, oil rinsing challenge I should be using products pretty consistently. So I will probably be moving through my conditioner, leave-in and oils pretty well by the end of the year.

Made a new oil blend and I seem to go through about 4 oz of that a month. So my oils should move much quicker than in challenge 1.

Had a close call yesterday, and almost feel for buying something I don't need. It was 50% off - I'm a sucker for a sale. But being in kinky twist, makes me rethink the purchase, since I really can't use it. Also doing a litte research and thoroughly reading a past "gate", makes me think twice before purchasing.

ETA* Going to look thru stash and see what I know I will not use and can be tossed. I hate to toss stuff, but there may be some older items in the stash that I know I am not going to use.

Used up some Back To Basics Jasmine Curl Refreshing Conditioner tonight. I may buy a few more oils this session to make a mix to help with my alopecia. My mom bought me some Rogaine but I haven't decided if I will use it.

I haven't used anything up but here are my plans:

I will use up my henna and indigo, I DOUBT I will repurchase based on time. If I do one here one there.

I am wigging for now. I am going to CANCEL my next Wen gallon order. I don't think I am going to use this up by then, Plus I have extra bottles and him with all these seasonal try me's which I will purchase because it is CHAZ Dean and he is the Man in my eyes. LOL

Anywho, good luck ladies, I am still in it, and feeling so very positive!

Hey laaadies!!

You know I'm in! (Bree of BriNique--my cousin isn't in this challenge. poor baby.)

So I haven't used anything up as of late, but my Organix is running low (I'll be using it mainly for co-washes, just to get it out of my face!)

i'll include pics of my stash as of late (it's basically this photo, nothing has been added, and nothing removed!)

Staples/ trying to use up:
-elasta qp mango butter (heavy moisturizer)
-organix conditioner (co-wash conditioner)
-ORS replensihing conditioner (light protien PC)
-Kenra (moistruizing DC)
-Silk Elements mask (moisturizing DC)
-HE LTR leave-in (leave-in/ moisturizer)
-Shea Moisture Curl (light moisturizer)
-Kinky Curly Knot Today (leave-in)

so...yeah. Goal is to be done with Organix by the end of the month. Everything else, use in moderation but don't be scrrrrrrrrd.

I'm kinda scared to run out of Kenra, i love it so.

Hair plans for the next fe weeks: braid-outs and buns and top knots oh my!

This weekend I was supposed to go to an outdoor expo where my intent was to pick up some locally made hair products. But it was cold and neither I nor my mom were feeling going. So the good news is that by not going it prevented my adding anything new to my stash. :yay:

We still have happily natural coming up though so will add something soon. :yep:

Not really close to using anything up, but a few things are in play. I have a half bottle of 3 different conditioners. They will definitely be gone by years end. And having good results with my leave-in so that will definitely be gone. I am switching to moisturizing 2x a day so I should flow through my moisturizing products pretty quickly.

I have fewer products but I am mixing more so my closet is fuller now with stuff at 16 products then it was when I had 40 :perplexed:

I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and buy a bottle of my African Royal BRX braid spray. My sew-in is itching like its going out of style and that stuff was my savior during my transition. Best way to keep my braids and scalp moisturized without weighing the weave down or creating buildup. I wonder if I could mix in some sulfur so I can get a bit of it everytime I spray. Hmm...

Used up some V05 Champagne Kisses last night. Working on 2 more conditioners, a moisturizer, and an oil. Hopefully I'll be done with all by the end of the month.

Have to add 2 things to my stash... the argan serum which I mentioned last week  and I bought a jar to KCCC to try on my twists. I had such great results with it last time I used it so decided to try it to see if I enjoy it as much as I remember.

I will use up most of my TW conditioner after my DC today. And every time I get close to the end of a bottle I get sad   But don't know when I will replace it until after I use up the other conditioner I have.

Adding my BRX braid spray to the list. Life saver I tell ya. Weave is still coming out though. That broad is horrible.
