HAIR BUDGET FOR 2007

lAST YEAR I EXPERIMENTED WITH DIFFERENT PRODUCTS BUT I REALIZED HOW MUCH MONEY I SPEND ON MY HAIR, THANKS TO THIS SITE, I NOTICED THAT I COULD TRY CHEAPER EFFECTIVE PRODUCTS THAT WON'T BREAK MY WALLET, ONE SUCH WAS REPLACING APHOGEE FOR NEXXUS EMERGENCY WHICH I USED FOR OVER 7 YEARS, BUT APHOGEE IS JUST AS GOOD, I ALSO NOTICED SUAVE MILK AND HONEY AND GARNIER FRUCTIS WERE GOOD PRODUCTS THAT WEREN'T EXPENSIVE, i ALSO NOTICED THAT MANY OF MY FELLOW LHCF SISTERS THAT HAVE GREAT HAIR DON'T NECESSARILY USE EXPENSIVE PRODUCTS. WITH THESE FACTORS I'VE SET A HAIR BUDGET FOR 2007 OF $740
PERMS FOR 2007 - 60 X 5 =300
SALON VISITS 20 X 15 = 300
HAIR PRODUCTS $ 140
I WILL TRY MY BEST TO STICK TO THIS BUDGET, IF YOU THINK I'M FORGETTING SOMETHING TO INCLUDE IN MY BUDGET LET ME KNOW, ALSO, IF YOU HAVE A HAIR BUDGET YOU WANT TO STICK TO IN 2007 POST IT HERE LETS ACHIEVE HEALTHY HAIR THE AFFORDABLE WAY

I am not good at making budgets, but every thing you just said makes since. I love the fact that I have learned to buy cheaper products. I was reading Shamboosies book (very good), but I felt that I had to have the entire Nexxus line in order to have cool hair. Now i know better. I would have never looked at V05, Suave, Bedhead, MTG and many of the seasonings in my kitchen the way I do now. I do knnow that I will definitely stock up on at least 3 kits of Phyto and lots of henna. Da*n those bad and old box kits that wouldnt straighten my hair. I am now a changed person...

Phyto - $60 x 3 = $180
Henna/Cassia - 300g x 3 = $75.00

These 2, I have to have. I have stocked up on everything else. Got stuff everywhere.

Ok I am done. Enjoy the New Year.

Progress...not perfection
Humm...
Cut/trims, I do supercuts or saturdays 3-4x a year@aprox 20 bucks= 80 bucks
Restocking of Qhemet, 3 times a year avg order 45.00=135.00
Other items, giovanni, shampoos, conditioners, gels i can get locally or other online sites=100.00-150.00

I'm heavy handed with my products tho. 365.00 or 1.00 per day. :)

If I make it to NY this year I want to visit devachan or curves for a cut, and if I come into some extra money I'm going to try to justify the devachan diffuser, but I dont anticipate actually doing those to items.

Part of my new years resolutions is keeping a running total of hair care and fast food tho, so we'll see how this goes. :)

remember to leave a little cushion in your budget for emergency hair situations, also subtract from your budget when you spend for hair producsts and services

wow i was just thinking about this last friday when i went to go purchase 3 packs of weave for $70. i mean i was really devastated , but i still bought it

my problem seems to be that i feel the need to get my hair done in expensive styles every 3 weeks

so my plan

do my own sew ins.... free
keep my hair stlyes in longer

I was thinking about this just yesterday since I was pricing around for henna/indigo.

Texlax Touchups - 3 x $55 = $165
Various Products - $300 (i really just want to get a good deep conditioner and a heat protectant serum of some sort)
Random blowouts @ salon - 5 x $30 = $150 (though i suspect i'll keep doing it on my own and using my beloved maxiglide for FREE)

Most of the money I spent this year on products was because of my PJ'ism :wallbash: ....I put a personal choke hold on my online spending habits by limiting my product purchases to locally obtainable purchases ONLY :look: ....I'm giving myself some room for big ticket items ie: stand alone hair dryer (I think that's what it's called :perplexed ) and that crazy looking diffuser I saw on naturallycurly.com

I'm guessing my "hair budget" for 2007 will be $1000 (keeping in mind that I have 2 heads of hair to care for)

I have tried a budget and never stick to one. I have swapped my eating out budget for hair, so this works for me.

I blew my budget in the 4th quarter of 2006.... so my only goal is not buy another dangblasted product until all of this is used up!

I self relax, and do my own hair - so I anticipate my purchases this year to be limited to relaxers. I set a budget of thinks relating to that at $150

Hey, Lady I live in Michigan too. My mother lives in Detroit and I was wondering where you go for a salon visit that only costs $20.00. I could sure use the savings....Thanks so much!

I blew any kind of budget in 2006,but I found great cheap staples. I love the cheapie Sauve for prepoos, and Queen Helene Cholestorol (sp). I also make my own spray moisturizer and I love castor oil. (I still want to try Asha's,and Kinky Curling Custard.) I also have to keep Afro Detangler in my stock because my son's hair loves it.;)

2007 will be a good year for me.:D

I know exactly what works for my hair now. I don't go to salons. I own a new Solia and a new Sedu flat iron. I have a ton of hair pins and combs for french twists. I still have a good stockpile of the "old" Nexxus products...

I don't think I will spend any more than $150 total on my hair in 2007. That's just the cost of replacing my salon size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, protein and oils and butters.:)

It is really hard to stick to a budget on hair care products because everytime I log on to LHCF someone is reviewing a product that I just have to try. :dizzy:

My resolution for 2007 is not to buy anymore products until my current ones are all used up.

I could not pay myself to stick to hair budget - I am an accountant! I consider my hair the area where I splurge and pamper myself. I enjoy spending on my hair becasue it is the one thing I do for me!

I can however see how costly it can become, props to you for setting a budget. Good Luck to You!

The good news for me is I finally learned how to self relax and I don't go to salons, so that saves me $$. I have an inexpensive source for henna locally which is nice. I've got my trusty Maxiglide and I've narrowed down my staples. So any odd pj indulgances really won't break the bank for me. I'm psyched for 2007.

I have so much products its a crying shame I might have to put mines together and take a picture as well. I try not to buy to many things and then I get on here and have to run out and get something else new. I been on vacation the last two weeks. I spent. 200.00 just from reading on here. I brought DCR whatever the numbers are. Mrs Jessie's buttercream, two phonies, Henna. Lenzi request, Gosh no wonder I am sitting home New Years busted. I don't plan to spend more then I say 1,000.00.
I plan to get three wigs
two UPC phonies
tons of conditioner
aphogee (never tried it going to soon)
Henna and all the stuff that goes with it
a new flat iron
one gallon leave in conditioner as soon as I can find one.
silk scarves to tie my head up with.
and hopefully by July my hair will be long enough for me to need a couple of colorful wraps for my hair.
sam's club has those gallon containers that tilt and you used the cup that comes with it to pour out what you need- for washing your clothes I was thinking about going out and getting one use up the stuff for my clothes and then filled it with cheap conditioner

Me too. I know I won't be buying any new products until I run out, but I have no idea when that will be. Also, I have plans to get some braids done and I have to buy some more vitamins, so putting up a set number would probabaly be futile.

Last year I think I spend over a grand on hair products alone. This year I am not going to spend over $200. Mostly for insta weave and perms. That's it.

I didn't give this area up my 2007 financial plans until I saw this post. Thinking about it, I feel my hair is a luxury I should bre able to spend as needed to achieve the results I desire. Yet & still her's my breakdown referencing 2006 all-year splurging.....

Vitamins/Minerals= $25.00 monthly ($250/yr)
Hair Products= $20-$25 monthly (self relax,clip, & all) ($250-300/yr)
Hair Tools (combs,brushes,ornaments,dryer etc)= $30 month ($360/yr)

Estimated 2007 Hair care spending= $910-$1000 yearly

Not bad, I feel I'm worth a hell of lot more, so $1500/yr wouldn't be bad if I added a few salon visits to give myself a break 4 times during the year.

My goal is to finish every product I start and to not buy any new replacement products until the old ones are used. That should keep my spending under wraps.
