My Awesome Braidout PICS & VIDEO

Hey Ladies,

Just thought I'd share. I have been experimenting with braidouts for a while now and through experimenting, I came up with this method. It is like a regular braidout only my braidout involves a satin scarf :) (I tend to think outside the box).
The Reason why I use a satin scarf: I wanted a more defined, more uniform curl pattern from root to ends but could not achieve that with a traditional braidout. Most people's hair is thinner at the ends than at the base of the head. When you do a braid, the braid gets smaller and smaller towards the ends. That means that when the braids are undone, you end up with nice big waves/curls near the top of your head but non-uniform tiny waves at the ends. I hate that look.

I did a couple of video tutorials on it on Youtube.
I am in love with this method. It works for me. And I say, don't knock it until you try it. Check out the vids.

Oh my God, you are a GODSEND!! :worship2::worship2:

Without even opening this thread, I came across your YT video because I did a braidout last night, but hated my ends! I got a lot of compliments but my ends didn't come out looking too good for me. I will try your methods this weekend.

Thank you so very much!

I subscribed to your channel!! :blowkiss:

Very smart, and your hair is beautiful! Now all I have to do is find some of those satin strips. I'll definitely be trying this, on both blowdried (stretched) hair and when I get tired of wearing my hair straight after a Dominican blowout.

What is the Silk Remedy generic for? I have a stash of GVP products that I love, but I don't think I've seen that one before. Quick, my 15% off coupon expires Saturday! :lachen:

Your right that is awesome. I will try that and see if it works, if not I will def remember this for when my hair gets longer. I like your whole technique. Your hair is nice and your edges are on point.

I think you can get one of those satin things at wal mart. The one that tie around your head with the two strings, and cut it in half and use that. Does that make sense? I got this from a youtuber for defining waves in the front. If it doesn't make sense I will find the video.

I just cut up a regular satin scarf like this http://www.sallybeauty.com/Wrapping-Scarf/SBS-480170,default,pd.html

I always use the silk remedy before styling, it doesn't matter what I'm doing. I just love how it makes my hair feel silky, smooth and soft.

Very creative! If you can use strips from a satin scarf for braidouts, I wonder what other ways you can use it.

This braid out is the bomb! But I can't cornrow to save my life, so I can't rock it.
You don't have to do cornrows, you can do individual braids. I show how to do this here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaEE2cN7DwY

Your hair is beautiful!!!...thanks for posting...I'm not good at cornrows but I'm gonna try it...are you putting hair in with satin as you braid or using the satin as the "third" piece of hair?...I hope that makes since :perplexed

I am not good at cornrows either. You don't have to do it with cornrows though. Try individual braids. With individual braids, the satin scarf is the 3rd piece of the braid. This video shows how I make the single braids with the scarf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaEE2cN7DwY&feature=related
