Fast and Easy Braidout **PICS & Video** - Satin Scarf Method

Hey all :),

Just thought I'd share....
Some time ago I made a thread about my Satin Scarf Braidout with video tutorial - i.e. how to do a braidout with cornrows.

Alot of people indicated that they didn't know how to cornrow /french braid etc.

So I made a video tutorial showing how to do a braidout with regular single braids /plaits - No Cornrows.

It is fast and easy, but most importantly the results are much better than the normal braidouts.

Check out the video...

This is a really great method. I already do cornrow braidouts with great success but as you said on your blog, the hair gets thinner towards the end. I will definitely be trying the scarfing method. Thank you for sharing. Off to watch the rest of your videos.

Thank you guys.
For those of you who are going to try the satin scarf braidout method. Good luck, I know it will turn out awesome - at least once you get the technique down right. :)

Practice makes perfect...

Thanks SO much for the video! I'm going to start practicing that tonight.

One question though- what happened when you got to the end of your hair? You did some kind of knot move. I'd be so greatful if you had the time to clarify that. I can just see myself now getting my ends all crimped and caught in a knot :drunk: lol.

I JUST did a braid-out the night before last and when I took it down yesterday, it was a complete mess!!! I am definitely going to try this from now on. Thanks so much for this, because I was about to give up on braid-outs!

@Tickin4Gold: Do you think these braids could be don with ribbons instead of scarfs?

I have NOT tried a braidout with ribbons.
I still have a couple rolls of ribbons.

But not once while I was braiding my hair with satin fabric did I look at the ribbon and think it could do just as good a job as the actual fabric.

Reasons:

1. it is too thin

2. the widest ribbon would only be around 2" wide- not wide enough. I recommend at least 3" inches wide. The smaller the width of the fabric, the smaller curls you will get. I personally like bigger curls.

3. ribbons do not have soft edges or curve at the edges as well as the satin fabric. The sharp edges could cause the hair to have indents and crinkles in some places.

4. ribbons do not stretch- the satin scarves do

So for those reasons I haven't tried it. But I will try it at some point try it on a small section of my hair and post my results.

Now I could be wrong on all accounts which is why I will try the ribbons to see if it will actually work. One day...

Thanks for the vid! I loved your results and the fact that it doesn't seem too complicated, as I'm still a bit of novice at hair styling.
