Mine is a different model, it's white. But the one I have does use tap water.

I had my lcl steamer for over 2yrs. It has lasted a good long time and I use it at least 2-3x per month.
pros:good steam flow, price
cons: can't replace damaged parts, hood is not deep enough, 30min of steam only have to use filtered or distilled water only and you have to periodically clean it by steaming white vinegar mixed with water.
I had knocked over my steamer and cracked the water reservoir and the little drip container. I had to use gorilla glue to temporarily fix it. It still works but it was time to get something else.
I decided to make the investment and ordered a pibbs. It's quite expensive, but since I steam so often, it will pay for itself in no time.
