What Do Men Have Against FAKE HAIR???

I've been walking around all day in my new wig (check my fotki if you haven't seen it ) and have been getting TONS of complements from random people! I was so proud of myself. I sprayed each section of my wig with plain water and pincurled it all around. Then I go see my man and he's so against my wig. I made a comment about being ready to get home so that I could take this wig off (because my head gets itchy and hot), and he was like, "You need to take it off and burn it!" Ouch! That's harsh! What's up with men and fake hair?? My SO never wants to admit he likes my hair when he knows it's fake, whether it's weave or a wig or extensions. But him and all men drool over women in the entertainment industry when it's obvious that their hair is fake! What's the deal?? Do men just not like hair when they know it's fake? If they thought it was real would they like it more? :ohwell:

For some reason I think many men want their own woman to have/sport her own hair. I think they may be okay with braids sometimes.

To us, fake hair is like an accessory. Not to them though...

As far as the women in entertainment, the men are attracted to the image of that person including the hair. (which happens to be fake) But I'm sure the mystique would soon go away if the man was personally involved with that woman and he had to live up close and person with the woman and her fake hair.

Yeah, he's probably embarrassed that his girl is wearing a wig or a weave. Because I can honestly tell you that when most guys see women with long hair they don't wander if its weave. They automatically assume that its that girl hair. I have gotten in plenty of fights with male friends when I have looked at a girl and remarked that her hair is weave. They always counter with, "How do you know?" or "It don't matter, she working that weave." or "That aint weave! You just jealous!" LOL.

Honestly they are attracted to long hair no matter how you get it. Even if it looks rough to us (females), men sometimes have a hard time telling the difference. So, I just think its the fact that your significant other KNOWS that its a weave which is whats making him feel all self-conscious.

My b/f's best friend has a store and the guy also sells weaves and wigs. SO while we were straightening my hair the friend called and my b/f telling his friend "val having some issues with her hair" SO his friend asked " she want me to send her some weave?" my b/f said "no, I don't like it"

All this going on like I'm not even sitting right there *rolleyes*

I don't know what it is.. But I bought a half wig over the weekend and wore it to church on Sunday..

I got lots of compliments from people at church. But uuuhhh.. DH told me I needed to take it back to the store! :lachen::lachen::lachen:

EXACTLY what i mean!!! you guys all raise good points, though. most men are so nonobservent... you could really fool them with anything. i guess what i just don't get is when they know it looks good and they know that everyone else thinks it looks good (so i wouldn't think he would be embarassed) but they still don't like it JUST because it's fake!!!

lol .... i just have to laugh ( at myself ) ......

My hair is in such bad shape my guy don't mind if I wear wigs, falls etc..
As a matter of fact he PREFERS and ENCOURAGES me to wear them more often ..

He has been so used to me in these hair accessories cuz that is all that I basically wear. Even to BED !!!!!!

BUT ...... since LCHF ... i have been wearing alot of scarves at home and at nite ...

lol ......... oh well .... he gets his hair sometimes

it's b/c they cant tell the difference
so when they find out they feel deceived/tricked. :perplexed
tell a man beyonce wears a wig and he'll fight you to the death. :wallbash:

I'm not sure it's the look of a wig or weave. I've heard some men say it's because they can't run their fingers through it.

I just have to say this!...How would you feel dating a guy who was wearing a "TOUPEE"? AND that just about everybody around you knew this guy and knew it was a toupee. Would you want him to just go with his own hair or lack thereof,...say he had some baldness issues, or just did not like his hair, or was trying to grow it out and wanted to sport a "weave" for a special event...or how would you feel about "a matching set?"a his and her weave...? lolol Would you want him to sleep in it or hang it on the bedpost overnight?
Me, I would be happier with his own hair or the lack thereof: Now about celebrities: Remember RICK JAMES? Now errybody knew:.......but he definitely had a way with many of the ladies: But if he were not a celebrity, women would probably have run the other way.....you have seen his pics without the "toupee"...(WIG!)...and remember MICHAEL JACKSON...that is not his real hair ya'll.....but he drove many gals over the edge...."HEE HEE!" Now if he was not a celebrity you would not want to date him with or without the wig, at this point, but you get my drift.....Michael has been wearing a toupe for years......Ashford and Simpson.....was he wearing his own hair?.....or was that a "wig? now if the brothers who are not entertainers started showing up at the club wearing "afro...straight or curly...headcoverings...how would you feel about it...or if your husband or SO was wearing a variety of wigs and weaves and extensions...and his choice of colors...maybe blonde one week and red the next...would you be comfortable with it.....MY point....it is just a style option............right???????...........or would the ladies start trippin!!!!!!...................bonjour

Good point, laCriolla. Me and my SO were watching the BET awards and Beyonce came on. He had the NERVE to ask me if her BUTT-LENGTH blonde weave was real!!!! :nono: I looked at him like he was cwazy.

My hubby doesn't mind weaves that much but he absolutely loathes wigs with a passion. I think that it has to do with the idea of taking it off at night and seeing a stocking cap covering my hair.

Personally I think they are against false advertising. Its cool if its on TV because its meant to be fake. No woman can rock a Rihanna do one day and a Beyonce do the next with their own hair, so they have to uphold the image with the weave. But they know we're real, they can touch us and see us everyday, so there is no point to be so elaborate and fake.

Not to mention if I was a dude, and I was dating a girl with what appeared to be long, thick, full, shiny hair... and all of a sudden here come children that aint got NO hair on their head, I would feel jipped, like there was a lot of false advertising going on. Just like when people get nose jobs, etc and fail to tell their partner. Then comes baby with a honker the size of a small country.

I know as a woman, I never have the problem of wondering what my man's hair looks like b/c they don't deceive me with their hair, but Im sure men are worried these days.

I would be happy if he didn't want me to wear weave, it means he loves you and your hair, and doesn't need you to add some weave to be pretty because he already sees it. Now I would be confused if he wanted you to wear the wig all the time though...

Giirlllllll you are crazy! :ohwell::perplexed:yep::drunk::lachen:
I am rolling out of my chair
You are so right though. Thats why the closest I'll ever get to fake hair is braids. I can't do it. As soon as I did it, it then it would give my BF the right to be sporting a lace front whenever he felt like it... and then I would have to whoop his behind. :naughty: We just can't have that.

OMG...you've given me a whole new perspective:scratchch

I just asked one of my male friends to actually get a male's point of view and he said, "Because it's FAKE!!! It's different if a woman lost all of her hair due to an illness like cancer and wore it." He emphasized the word fake, loudly.

Most of the guys that I know are aware that Beyonce's hair is fake and don't seem to care for it.

I think that's my DHs problem...he has "hand in the hair" disease BAD. He doesn't mind the look so much, he just wants to be able to touch my real hair...and I can understand that. I make sure I give him plenty of "real me" time and he's all good:grin:

yeah okay... they don't seem to mind when we wear false eyelashes, acrylic nails and paint up our faces with make-up. and i don't see them following suit (okay, so a few trannies are) :lachen:

Personally I feel the same way. I don't like fake anything. I dón't wear fake nails. I've never worn a weave. I don't wear make up. I did go buy a wig and a phony pony but I still havén't gotten up the nerve to wear them because they are fake. They do match my hair color and texture almost to a T so don't worry about other people knowing its fake but I would know and that bothers me.

I know that sounds weird doesn't it.

He hasn't said anything about make-up unless it looks bad. He just doesn't like fake hair.

The bolded doesn't sound weird. :nono: If they make you feel uncomfortable, then don't wear them. If your feelings change, then go for it.

This is a topic that angers me--- a lot of guys hate fake hair but drool and allow beyonce, tyra, and halle berry (yes she wears them too!) to wear extensions.

But we can't- our hair has to be down to the floor and 100% real. This topic has always bothered me. I like this thread. LOL :lachen:
