Hello Ladies,

It's time to do our first check-in.
Please answer the following questions:

1. Are you still on track for
APL at the end of March?

Yes-I went back to braids though because the constant manipulation was causing unneccesary hair loss from detangling.

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the
ladies in the challenge (I will
be taking the best 3-6 questions
and using them for the next check in)?

I'll have to think about this one

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without?

Lacio Lacio, coconut oil, prepoo oil mixtures, kitchen sink growth balm:spinning:and currently-Eqyss avocado mist for easy braid moisturizing

4. How often do you wash your hair?

Mostly eod, sometimes daily if my hair smells too "savory" from various herbal potions

And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals?

It's giving me a better perspective on my hair growth rate and keeping me a bit more focused on my topical applications knowing I have an approaching deadline.

Answers are in red^^^^^^^^^

Yes I sure hope I make it

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the

What are you doing to aid in your hair growth?
Are you doing any protective styles?

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without?
Elasta QP Mango Butter
Jazzing Clear rinse
Vaseline intensive care lotion

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals?
Now that its cold I wash my hair once or twice a week (my hair tells me when its time for a wash) I now wash my hair more than I did before and I noticed co-washing over the summer helped me retain length

Hello Ladies,

It's time to do our first check-in.
Please answer the following questions:

1. Are you still on track for
APL at the end of March?

Yes.

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the
ladies in the challenge (I will
be taking the best 3-6 questions
and using them for the next check in)?

My question would be: what is the primary product/method you use that you believe will help you achieve APL length?

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without?

Coconut oil, ORS olive oil moisturizer, Nature's Gate herbal daily conditioner

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals?

I wash about 2x a week and co-wash 2-3x per week. This is helping me reach my goals in that I am caring for my hair with each wash and co-wash, and keeping it moisturized. By having well-maintained hair like this, I will be able to get closer to achieving my goal.

My answers are in green.

Please answer the following questions:

1. Are you still on track for
APL at the end of March?

I sure am, in fact, I'm already there but I want it to become a little fuller by March 30.

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the
ladies in the challenge (I will
be taking the best 3-6 questions
and using them for the next check in)?

I want to know if anyone is stretching their relaxer and what protective styling are you doing to accomplish this.

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without?

My hair loves Kenra Products, Biolage Ceramides, and Salerm 21 with B5 leave in conditioner/moisturizer. This is not fair as my hair loves so much more products.

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals?

I wash and deep condition my hair 3 times per week and this is helping because of the extra stimulation from massaging my scalp during my washes. I use MN too and so washing often is a must to keep my scalp and hair from excess build-up.

1. Are you still on track for
APL at the end of March? I'm not sure if I can make it anymore...:ohwell: Can I get THAT many inches by the end of March?

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the
ladies in the challenge (I will
be taking the best 3-6 questions
and using them for the next check in)? How do I keep my ends moisturized. I'm taking suggestions...

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without? ORS OO in the jar, and CON shampoo- green label, Castor Oil.

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals? about once a week. I don't know if it's helping me or not.

1. Are you still on track for
APL at the end of March? Yes!

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the
ladies in the challenge (I will
be taking the best 3-6 questions
and using them for the next check in)? What are you ladies doing special to retain the most length?

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without? My Dominican Conditioners (Wheat Germ Cond/Rinse, Olive Oil Cond), Daily Moisturizer (FF) and Relaxers.

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is helping you reach your goals? Twice a week. I have been doing this consistently for a year, and my hair is the healthiest it has ever been.

Please answer the following questions:

1. Are you still on track for
APL at the end of March?

Yes. I took a pic at the beg of Jan and at the beg of Feb and the one in the beg of Feb I am soooooo close. Like millimeters, really.

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the
ladies in the challenge (I will
be taking the best 3-6 questions
and using them for the next check in)?

Have you noticed greater than normal growth/retention since you started this challenge, and if so, what do you attribute it to?

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without?

No such products for me. My hair doesn't respond extremely well to products, so nothing makes me say "wow". Right now I alternate between 3 shampoos, 3 conditioners, and 3 moisturizers.

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals?

I normally wash my hair once a week, but I've been doing it more frequently since the beg of this year, probably average once every 4-5 days. I don't know that it's helping, but I like washing my hair so I don't care. :)

I think I am, I think I am!! :grin::look: It looks promising!!

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the
ladies in the challenge (I will

Are there any specific products that have helped you to retain the most length? Do you all have a set regimen -- if so, please share? For the frequent washers, how do you maintain your moisture balance?

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without?
Ayurvedic powders/oils for prepoo & rinse, Coconut Oil, Sunsilk Hydra TLC, and more recently Elucence MB Condish

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals?
Only once a week, but I think I may step it up to 2-3 times a week moving forward. I have been seeing many threads talking about frequent washing, specifically co-washing. I think this will help me to retain length and contribute to the overall health. Once a week is more than I was washing in the past so I think it has helped with the overall health of my hair.

One of my recent pics to show progress is in my avatar, but please feel free to view my Fotki for more. Will flat iron and post pics this weekend, if that's ok:yep::drunk:

I don't have a question but I would just say good luck.

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without?

Sunsilk Anti-esponja conditioner conditioner, Coconut/Castor Oil Mix, Lacio Lacio

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals?

About every 2-3 days. It's been really cold here so I don't do it much when it's cold. I don't think washing has anything to do with it growing.

P.S-- color coded answers!

1. Are you still on track for
APL at the end of March?

Hard to tell. I think I need a solid inch before I can claim it. I guess it is possible now that the weather is warming up and I'm more inclined to work out.

2. What question would you
like to pose to the rest of the
ladies in the challenge (I will

For those who have never been this length before, are you finding your hair awkward to handle?...I am.

3. Name atleast 3 hair products
your hair cant do without?

Coconut Oil, Baking Soda, Cheapie Conditioner.

4. How often do you wash your hair?
And how do you feel this schedule is
helping you to reach your goals?

Lately I've been co-washing every 3 days or so. I pressed last night to do a length check. I'm liking my wash-n-gos and braid outs these days, especially since blowdrying and/or pressing is more tiresome. I'm not sure it's helping me retain length, though. I think I did better when I was pressing once a week and wearing a bun daily... idk.

And how do you feel this schedule is

My longest length ever was mid-back. I dont find it awkward but it just a matter that you have to wear and treat long hair differently. As you grow you will pick up little ques about your hair, you can do this by paying attention to how your hair flows when you are handling it, if you feel resistance, stop doing that and try it another way. You will get very creative with upstyles, especially in the summer to get it off your neck and back.

I wash twice a week with shampoo, yes gurl with poo and my hair isn't dry. Or when I forget to poo again I just conwash. My hair had significant growth when I cowashed it every day when I was stretching. I cut my hair to mid neck in December and now it is base of neck, kinda on the shoulderish, and so much thicker! My hair is in the prime of it's health. Now I just need the length. Hopefully my hair will continue the good work and grow thicker and healthier. Oh yeah, fine haired ladies stay AWAY from the heat, when I dropped the comb my hair thicken up almost instantly.:yep:
