I just got a Darcy's Shea product that wasn't very scented. I may put some fragrance in it

That's interesting because in my experience all of their products is highly scented. I ordered their Leave-In in watermelon and the cherry kernel oil that's scented with cherry and they both smell like Jolly Ranchers!

Come to think of it, the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creame is not that scented either to my disappointment, but I think they use vanilla absolute which is nice...

ETA: added a dropperful of the cherry almond to my spray bottle of water and oil that I spritz with nightly. I love how it smells!

Pokahontas which base did you buy. I really really really wanna but the 7lbs of the organical deep conditioner but there aren't that many reviews on it

I haven't ordered just yet but I plan to get the organical one. That's the one ellepixie raved about and it's the base that some natural hair product vendors use.

Nonie or anyone else. Can I add the fragrance oils to say Africa's best herbal oil or Scurl moisturizer spray, and would it over power the original smell and take on a green apple etc scent?

CandiedLipgloss, I haven't the foggiest idea since I don't know the product in question or how potent it is. You could also end up with a whole different scent from the mingling of the scents. For what it's worth, if you don't like the smell of S Curl, Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1 is just as good and many find its sweet smell to remind them of strawberries. Sometimes adding a nice smell to sth funky just gives you perfumed funk, which could be worse, even sickening.

Ladies sometimes I hate lhcf. I'm supposed to be on a budget because I'm a PJ. Then you bring up a great site like this?!? I'm gonna have to eat in the cafeteria for free for a while.

Mixed HE LTR LI with Jamican Fruit, very tropical/fruity.

I have regular cold pressed castor oil (not JBCO) but I don't like the smell. Do you think one of the vanilla/ cake batter scents can mask it?

Anyone know the answer to this? I've never mixed oils or mixed scents before so I'm unsure. I'm talking about the light yellow (almost clear) castor oil. Ideally I wanted it to smell like the Hairveda Vatika Frosting so I would use cake batter.

Also, if we are trying to mask a strong smell. Does the quality of your oil decrease if you add too much scents?

Each scent has a recommended usage, say 5%-10% of your final product. Exceeding that percentage will affect the quality of your product and might make it unsafe to use on your skin. Every scent is different so check with the manufactor.

I know you can mask the stink of castor oil with essential oils so I'm sure a synthetic scent will work too.

What you get, what you get, and from who?

lovebug10, if I had some regular castro oil I would try it for you to see. Do you have a FO at home? If so try it with like an ounce just to see.

I know for sure if you were mixing different oils together it would be fine as far as masking the scent but just str8 up castro IDK.

BUMPING for you also.

Yea you can definitely mask it. Regular co doesn't have a strong smell so it shouldn't be hard at all anytime I managed to cover the funky smell of this monoi oil I ordered. It was gross bur now it smells like vanilla frosting :)
