Tips for growing hair out at the nape?

I'm having difficulty with one area in my nape. One side is growing out beautifully and the other seems to be stuck or evil or something of that sort. smh. I don't know exactly what I should do to the hair to help it grow. Any suggestions?

from what i've read here, moisturizing the nape separately and not relaxing it (or relaxing it every other relaxer) helps.

My nape grew when I kept it up as high as possible off my shoulders. I wore my hair on the top of my head for about 8 months one year, kept it moisterized, and I haven't had a problem w/my nape since. It falls in line w/the rest of my hair.
