Hy all, Im new to LHCF. Im transitioning, last relaxer was June 08. Im transitioning with braids, but my roots seem to be so much thicker than what I remember them to be :lachen:. Anyway, I need to know what is a good moisturizer to use on them. They are pretty rough, and when I got cornrows this weekend, it HURT for the lady to grip them up. Im planning to do the BC in January for my 25th birthday. I read this site almost everyday at work, but I really need to know what moisturizers to use in my head. Also I need some support, because I didnt think it would be this hard....:wallbash:
I have 4a hair from what I can tell...

Hi Vanita! I am also a newbie transitioning. My last relaxer was in June so we are just about in the same boat. I am still trying to find the products that work for my roots as well. Good Luck!

Welcome aboard vanita!

As far as keeping your braids moisturized you can use almost any water based moisturizer. A few that come to mind are African Royale Braid Spray (good overall moisturizer), African Pride and Better Braids. Curl Activator Sprays like S-Curl no drip Spray, Carefree Curl, Sta-Sof-Fro can also work pretty well, just make sure to dilute it with a bit of water first before you apply it to your braids to avoid any product buildup. You can also use any of these when your hair is out of braids, since most contain water and/or glycerin as the main ingredients. Since you’re transitioning with braids you may want to check out http://growafrohairlong.com/braidreg.html for tips on maintaining your hair while it’s in/out of braids. Also be sure to check out the Transitioning Support Thread http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=56005
it’s full of great tips and info that can help you throughout your transition.

Good Luck!
