Coming from another site:

Shapelys is promoting Sulu.

Shapelys says its the same ingrediants [
http://suluhair. com/ingredients. html
<http://suluhair. com/ingredients. html> ] just a diff oil and that they
added fragrance. [ They've listened to compliments/ complaints about
the burnt bacon smell that u all said. They mention the internet chat
rooms : http://suluhair. com/test- store.html
<http://suluhair. com/test- store.html> ]

It is called Sulu [ I wonder the significance of Sulu ].
" Introducing SULU MAX GRO, from the makers of Shapley's Original M-T-G.
Addressing the needs of ethnic hair care, MAX GRO offers an improved
applicator, a better carrier oil and a human friendly scent! Expect the
same great proven results as:
Dermatologist Tested & Approved. "

I have it, but I've only used it twice (It arrived Monday). I paid $11.95, not including shipping, for an 8 oz. bottle. I think the original is cheaper and you get much more but I was afraid of that infamous "bacon grease" smell...

I've never smelled the original so I can't really compare the two but I don't think the smell is bad (don't get me wrong, the fragrance they added certainly wasn't roses). It smells like something I've definitely used before, I'm thinking Sulfur 8 but it's been so long. Throughout the day I got a couple faint whiffs of the stuff, but I didn't mind. On the bad smell-o-meter I give it a 3.9 or 4.2 out of 10. It's also ubergreasy, it arrived in 2 super thick, governemnt sealed plastic bags and was all over my hands before I even opened the bottle. Maybe that was just my package though.

I plan on using it once a night so we'll see how well it works.

I am interested to learn how it smells as I need something for softness and moisture! Moisture evaporates out of my hair like nobody's business.

There are some previous posts on this for more info (just type in Sulu or something into the search engine) and I don't remember seeing anyone stating that MTG worked and that Sulu didn't. I don't think the results will totally different from one another. I'm sure we're just paying for that added fragrance, whatever it is.

I don't think this would a very good moisturizer, though, it doesn't even list water as an ingredient. LHCF has taught me that oils don't moisturize (thanks guys!). At best, maybe you could use it to seal in a moisturizer after you find a good one?

I threw that mess out and did not even try it.

Smells the same if you ask me (and KhandiB. tried to get her to use some of it. :lachen: She threw that out, too.)

Haha, maybe I'm just weird and don't mind the smell. But I could never throw it away. I'm gonna get my 11.95 + shipping's worth of this stuff!

Girl, $12 is not worth it for me to be walking around smelling like MTG.

You are not weird though. There are other's that don't mind the scent of Sulu or MTG. I guess it is just different for everyone.

But, for me - NOPE. Not what I want to smell like. Besides, I spend more on pretty smelling shampoos and conditioners, lotions and body sprays. I'd rather smell those. :yep:

I think I will stick to what I have been doing. I let my bottle of MTG sit until all the sulfur settles in the bottom, siphon off the oil using a turkey baster, then replace it with a combo of olive and castor oils plus a few drops of peppermint oil. Voila......no smell. When I was using MTG straight up, my DH said I smelled like a turkey leg. No smart arse comments from him when I doctor it up this way.

I ordered it as well and threw it away. There was fragrance added but the smell was still over powering and awful. Couldn't do it. Not enough masking in the world. :ohwell: Also, as with MTG - most of my hair reacted well but it broke my crown off. :wallbash:
