Oh good!! That's what I was looking for someone else on the site that had done that with good results. I feel confident about it now.

I turned to henna because for the Summer I tried to lighten my hair using Textures and Tones but it dried my hair out so bad I was about to BC my APL hair . I finally got it back into condition using Ojon but I didn't want to use chemical dyes again.

I started using henna for grey coverage around my hairline and conditioning. Even though I liked it I still want my base dark brown color back so I'm gonna use the Bigen to do that cause I've never had a problem with it and then I'll continue with the henna and indigo.

I also want to buy a nice ponytail and you can't find one to match the dark auburn color I'm getting with the henna over my lightened hair.

I did a lot of research before I started with the henna so I didn't have much mess at all. I was well prepared for the worst and it worked out better than I thought. I plan to make that a keeper .

Thanks ladies, it seem that bigen can be a bit dry on the hair and some ladies had other problems. Sooooo I yesterday I bought Dark & Lovely Reviving Semi-Permanent Hair Color in Radiant Black. Hopefully this works :yep:

Black was put in my hair at at hair salon and I hated it
because the color was a flat, dull black that looked like
ink or shoe polish in my hair...had no depth.

Bottom line: it is not a natural looking color in my opinion.

I'm thinking about using Bigen.

Has anyone with relaxed hair had successful results?

I've seen the various responses in the thread but I'm not sure whose relaxed.

ETA: And I want a shiny black color. Which would be better, oriental black, blue black, or some other color?

TIA

I like the Bigen color. Make sure to condition well afterwards.

Dont use Blue Black unless you literally want BLUE BLACK. :lachen:

Yes. It is wonderful. Covers gray completely and is very true to the sample shade. It comes out very solid. Cathy Howse recommends this because it is non-damaging. I am upset though because it does makes my scalp tingle and I dont' know if this is an allergic reaction. My stylist is going to contact the company to see if he can base my scalp before applying it.

oh damn :lachen:

I'm thinking of buying that today but if that is the case I will get the oriental black. I like blue black but if the blue is gonna be so obvious then I'll pass

I use it and love it. Oriental black, great coverage expecially the gray. I tried what Cathy Howse said about coloring after relaxing....nope did not work for me it HURT!!!!! I now color with Bigen about 1-2 weeks later and color with Dark and Lovely or something similar the same day as my relaxer because the relaxer tends to strip whatever color I had in out.

Yeah I don't put mine in after a relaxer either. I do it 2 weeks before or after I relax.

Mine doesn't come out dull or looking like shoe polish. It leaves my hair soft.....probably cause of the shampoo and conditioner I use. Plus my hair is already well conditioned before I apply it.

I use the Oriental Black and I buy it from a Korean store.
The Blue Black will leave you with blue highlights. If that's what you want....then go for it. I prefer a natural looking black.

The blue is obvious to me in light. It doesn't look blue blue but you cant ell thats the base of it. I wanted that though. If you want just jet black I would go with the Oriental Black

Glad to hear that you can use Bigen over previously BAQ henna'd hair. Does anyone think it would be okay to use this over hair thats been henna'd with LUSH Henna?? Its supposedly all natural, the ingredients are:

Indigo Henna (Indigofera Tintctoria), Fair Trade Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Red Henna (Lawsonia inermis), Irish Moss Powder (Chondrus crispus), Clove Bud Oil (Eugenia caryophyllus), *Citral, *Eugenol, *Geraniol, *Citronellol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume.

*Naturally occurs in essential oils

I've used this twice so far, should I be okay using Bigen over that? :perplexed

I want to try this product because I am tired of the frequent touchups that I have to do because semi-permanent are not doing the job of covering my gray strands. I think I will try this 1-2 weeks after I relax.

Does anybody known if it would be ok to add some olive oil or avocado oil to the mixture to ensure your hair is being conditioned?

Yea me 2. I love jet black hair and my hair never gets black enough for me. They talking about this gets BLACK-BLACK, so this sounds like the answer, but these reviews are 50/50 :perplexed

OK...... Ladies I have mustard up the nerve to buy Bigen and will be buying it today in Oriental Black from Sallys. Afterwards I am gonna let the conditioner sit on my hair for a long time with a plastic cap to seal in the moisture, I don't want the drying affect :nono:..

I tried the Soft Sheen Carson Dark & Lovely Semi-Permanent in Radiant Black and that stuff rinsed out in one shampoo :wallbash:. I am really hoping that I don't have a setback or it damages my hair :nono:. I will post an update once I do the color..

I know the directions say to not wash after dying.......just rinse it out....but I wash my hair then condition it for 30mins.

Use a good moisturizing conditioner afterwards and you should be fine.
Be sure and let us know how it turns out.

I love my bigen. :yep:

Ingredients: sodim perborate, cellulose gum, P-Phenylenendiamine sulfate, m-aminophenol, sodium carbonate, disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate, magnesium stearate, fragrance, O-Aminophenol, P-Aminophenol.

what exactly does PPD do to the hair? I know it's in a lot of hair dyes which breaks of a lot of people's hair

I used a cheapie conditioner. I don't know exact measurements. I probably used about 1/4 bottle of conditioner, 1/4 bottle of water (so we're up to 1/2 bottle of liquid) and then I added 2 bottles of the Oriental black.
My hair was really conditioned and the color was very rich. But it messed up my shower something awful though in the rinse out. I had to use a cleaner with bleach to remove it all.

This is a great mixture. I am going to try this.

It is not what it really does to hair, but to skin. Some have allergic reactions, but that is the same with other hair color and relaxers and all the other hair chemicals. That risk is there, but people still do it.

PPD deposits color to the hair surface the way henna does, but it is NOT henna. It is a chemical and the risk of irritation to skin is there.

I had a severe reaction to Bigen. I had to go to a dermatologist and after an allergy for ppd, I was prescribed Prednisone. Was told that everytime I was exposed to ppd the reaction could be worse possible leading to anaphylactic shock.
