Sorry I’m so late with my post! During this first quarter, I had my very first bout with shedding. It was short lived, the culprit was my diet, but the effects are still visible. I’m hoping to regain some density over the next quarter. My density is already on the low side (genetics), so I don’t need it be any lower, lol.
I’m currently wearing WNGs. I may have to find a gel with a harder cast to protect my ends. I got my hair trimmed last week and she had to cut a 1/2” off. That’s a month of growth for me. I already have so many gels, that I can’t justify buying something else right now.
Below are pictures with my hair curly, since this is how I wear my hair 95% off the time. It will be an accomplishment if I can reach curly bob status at the end of the challenge.
My hair is neck length when straight.

I don't have any pictures with a pull test since my coils are so tight and I can't get an accurate length check, BUT I took my hair out of their twists on Sunday to wash it and my hair did this

This is the first time in years that my hair looked anything like my avatar in terms of length!

I've been having a lot of success with washing my hair loose and detangling it under running water, every week. However, I know that my hair used to do really well when I would leave my hair in twists for two weeks at a time. I think that I'm going to try my old method of keeping my hair in twists for two weeks while still washing every week. If my hair still detangles easily, then I'll try this styling/wasshing method going forward.

Late check in! I don’t have much of an update in terms of length as I trimmed my hair beginning of April as my ends were just off so I cut off roughly one inch everywhere. Current length is front - 19.5, middle - 22, back - 18. I dyed my hair to jet black this month to see more shine so I think I will start keeping up with that every few months. The first three pics are on blown out hair/wand curls and the last is on my hair pre dye but with a blown out braid out. I’ve definitely been slacking on my hair as I’ve used heat more to switch it up. I’ve been focused on weight loss more atm so trying to get it together now.

@snoop I love the texture of your hair:love:

Had an excellent wash day and had to talk about it.

Prepooing took forever as I parted each quadrant into 4s. This proved handy as I shampooed in the twists and then pulled out the twists and deep conditioned. My twists were loose at the root which was excellent for cleaning my scalp. I think I finally cracked the code for a shorter wash day (done in 43 mins). DCing was a breeze as I didn't even use a comb to detangle, only needed my fingers.

I had a really good wash day this past Sunday. Im going to do a henna gloss this weekend and wash again either Saturday or Sunday.
My current washngo looks like it will last the week. Ive been letting it steam up in the shower these past two days and it feels moisturized so no need to spritz or anything.

I'm content where I am. Lets see what the rest of the season looks like.

I never did check-in in April  I will check in during July. I saw someone else do a length check with wet hair. I think that is a good idea for me. I will try to remember to do a mud-wash and take my update pictures that way. Perhaps I will start this month and do it monthly. :yep: Now, I just need to remember

Just make sure you use the same mud recipe each time. Depending on what I mix, my hair looks really short or really long.

Gorgeous hair!

I’m struggling with my hair. It’s dry and breaking. I think my troubles started when I used a glycolic acid blend to cleanse my scalp. My scalp and hair rebelled. It stripped my hair. It’s okay. Ill figure it out.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that you had this happen. Did you only use it once? Do you think that it was the quantity of glycolic acid that you used?

Early check in.

The front of my hair is starting to gain some traction. It's now grazing just below my jebs, which is a new length for me!

As for the back, I'm still continuing to grow out the various lengths as is. I still can't get a accurate length check outside of the shower, but one side in the back is now grazing WL and the other is grazing HL!

I'm not sure what it is specifically that's working, possibly adding WAY more water to my hair on wash day or my weekly dose of protein. Whatever it is, I'm here for it!

(I'll try to get some pictures of the back.)

What’s a jeb?

Here is my length check I did last month. I have the same length as I started because I cut my hair again. Unless the hair growth gods shine down on me I will not reach APL this year. I'm doing no direct heat for 6 months so the next length check will be when I straighten for Christmas time.
