Is it just me or has the forum died down quite a bit...

I remember back when I used to come on to LHCF and almost always see 450-500+ members logged into the hair section. Have we run out of hair conversation? Have weaves and wigs left us with nothing to post since out hair is in protective? Have we raved or ripped every product, new product, natural product, growth aids and home recipe known to man? Or am I just logging in a low peak times. My curious mind wonders...I love my LHCF and hate to see it when it's slow. You all are what make LHCF so I'm being stingy and want to make sure you all are here for my hair education needs at all times. :lachen: Thanks.

It has :ohwell:

ETA: I see that a lot of people will look at posts, but only a fraction reply. I think a lot of people lurk instead of posting these days as well.

It has and its very sad because I often times come on lhcf when I'm in class or something. I can come back 5 hours later and threads are in the same position on the first page as they were the last time I was on. Now I have to actually pay attention in class lol

I think it has been quiet around here lately. I just thought it was due to the site hardly ever being functional during the upgrade...I know I got tired of the site being down and stopped logging on :perplexed.

It may have something to do with the like and thank you option too...The option to like something or say thank you takes away the need to post...I know I'm guilty of going in and clicking instead of typing..

I would have to agree. Traffic on the site has gone way down and right around the time that I finally became a paid member smh. lol. I think that a lot of it has to do with all the protective styles. Also when you have a solid regime there isn't as much of a need to lurk on the site all the time. I remember when there would be pages of posts from a few hours. Maybe we can revive the site tho?

I know Im not the only one who hasn't reached their goals yet.

Yes its been a LOT quieter lately than when I first joined in March. Maybe folks are lurking while getting their grow on and are waiting to jump back in with pics...

It definitely has slowed down. It used to take me hours to go through new posts when I get to work in the morning, now I'm done in 30 minutes and I'm forced to start working earlier smh.

It has felt like a ghost town ever since the "upgrade". I'm sorry but it's sooo bootyish. I've thought to myself so many times "Man, Imma quit this site," ever since these changes started happening.....

I noticed the same thing. A lot less update threads and such. I would say the upgrades are to blame but I don't thing that's the sole issue. I agree with a pp that said once you have a regimen there's not a whole lot of reason to post anymore.

I remember a while back a lot of members were discouraging newbies from making posts and instead use the search button. Also some of the members who made the forum more "interesting" got banned. And lets not forget the grammar police and know-it-alls who took a lot of the fun out of posting.

It's probably a combination of a lot of things.

Since the update of this site and over 1000 pages of threads, it makes it hard to navigate and maintain interest at the same time. Before the update, I use to love this site. Now there are too many threads on the same topic and the search engine does not work as effectively like the old site. Just my 2 cents.

I think this has a lot to do with it. Seeing as how there should be new members logging in, thats how you get new threads, different questions, people NOT in PSs, all that. The vets have their regimens, and don't have questions. That's fine. But the forum will die if all it is is vets talking to vets. Gotta let the newbies talk and learn too!

Yeah it has been a bit of a ghost town lately. It all started with the new upgrade, but there was a surge for a little while when people were coming back. Now...idk if people are just waiting until the end of the year for a big reveal or what, but alas it's dead again. Tragic.

I agree. I've always hated the "do a search" crowd. They just come in, contribute nothing to thread, and holla do a search. At least post link to the threads. Geez.

Things have certainly changed since I enrolled almost a year ago.

What attracted me to this site was its high degree of traffic and diverse, supportive environment. However, given the slow down, the funky “upgrades” and the useless search engine, I’ve decided to exit when my membership expires.

The new format discouraged me as well, but I figured I have to be flexible and receptive to change.

Yes I have noticed this as well. I remember Sunday nights this place was live (good post, bad post, Drama/trolls pull out the popcorn). Now its just kinda Blahhh. I was hoping things would pick up around Nov/Dec when challenges end and people start posting their yearly length checks/updates. Also it will be cold/snow outside for most and people will be at home on their computers more.

But yes yes yes this place as been as dry a brick! I find myself "cheating" on LHCF and cruising over to the other hair boards. They stay live. *sigh*

plus it can get condescending. "hey hun, have you searched?" maybe they have, maybe they wanted to see if there are other ideas. Shutting people down discourages posting if all u gonna get is "do a search"

^^like where??? :look: and i've been in law school so I know I haven't been posting much...plus I go to the hairdresser weekly so I dun have much of a regimen anymore...but I do like looking at pics and reveals which I haven't been seeing so much of... But i've def. noticed what you ladies are talking about.

I haven't had any problems with the site but I did stop visiting the hair section as much after I found staple products and regimen (lol)

I know since I Bc'ed I have been in lurk mode or in the ET forum. I'm just waiting for shoulder length then I'll feel like I'm "back in the game".

I think that there are too many challenges...I know we all like them to keep us focused with our hair, but the thread start out very active with people posting to say they want to join, then they die or get lost until it's time to update. We can't post because we're too busy dc'ing, steaming, using ceramides sulfur, rollersetting (no heat), or braiding our hair up to put under our wigs. Just my two cents, lol!

For me it was the upgrade. This site is so confusing now. With ads and all kinds of things scrolling across my screen. It's much harder to navigate than before.

I know for me the upgrades slowed down my computer. But when I first joined earlier this year there were so many posts! I am new to the site but does it always slow down around this time of year?

I agree with everyone who said the upgrade was kind of a thrill killer. The search function is extra slaw now. Before, with the google search engine, you could find exactly what you were looking for. With this new search, I'm always finding things that have NOTHING to do with what I wanted. It sucks that this die down happened right around the time when I came out of lurkdom. :ohwell: hopefully we can bring it back to life. Good post OP. I thought I was the only one who felt this way.

Yeah it has. That's one reason I've been on youtube more lately. LHCF is still my hair home though :)

ugh, sadly...i didn't want to believe it (mainly because it started to die out around the time I became a PAYING member :() but it is going through a drought. Along with all of the other factors that the ladies mentioned (website upgrade, discouraging posters, sucky search......) I think another SERIOUS factor is that fact the MOST of the ladies that have met their hairs have taken what they've learned from here...and started their own blogs/domains that provide a wealth of knowledge to the "new generation" of newbies. Shoot, nowadays all the newbies have to do is follow the blog of someone like MsKibi and probably find all the knowledge they'll ever need without even having to utilize the information of LHCF. And let's not mention alot of the blogs/domains of our hair vets are FREE verses (sp?) the $6.50 fee that you get with this site.
But all in all...I still love my LHCF :yep:

Yep it has. When i first started lurking about a year or 2 ago there seemed to be a never ending amount of new posts. The upgrades which cause my computer to slow down dont help but also like mentioned before most people can find a blog and just replicated the regimen and products from it. And that search engine just comes up with random answers-no where near the question i asked!
