I would take legal action and put her on blast. That means she owes you some good money. And from this day forward use watermark.

Personal pictures are automatically copyright protected by law, you do not have to register them. He is a thief and scammer and I wouldn't let him get a way with this.

1.send a 'cease & desist' email to both of his sites [email protected] AND [email protected] and demand that he removes your pix due to copy right volation, within 24 or 48 hrs.

2.If he won't remove them, then report him to the ISP/webhost, which for this site I believe is godaddy.com. They will shut the site down. You can file a complain at: copyrightclaimsgoaddy.com.

3.If for some reason that does not work, contact flicker/fotki. I'm not sure what their copyright protection policy is though.

4. NOW, if that doesn't work here is his name, address and phone number:
James, Trentton
4019 s 44th street
phoenix, Arizona 85040
United States
(602) 454-1414
<--- I called the number, there was no answer but it rang.

I googled his name and the 'twistedbooks' email addy, and he has posts all over the web on various online forums asking for advice on his 'electronic book' business and how to get more traffic to his site.

That book has never been featured on those mags/news stations and I believe the Dr. nuevo is just a fake alias to make the book look more credible.

Very very good idea! Thanks for looking into this.

I haven't read the entire thread but why should the ladies be careful? If she took the pictures without permission she is clearly in the wrong. She should know that the victims are mobilizing and that her "business" is about to go down. :nono: :fistshake:
I say that because some are people are saying they will send emails that say something legal thing but don't have an action plan behind it. Since this guy does have a direct link to this thread, he can see many threats may be empty. Him knowing some threats are empty is not going to garner the result we want.

If I were you I would have contacted every well known station listed next to as seen on Etc. And then looked into suing for whatever proceeds made so far.

This is what I was thinking as well. Unfortunately, once you put some pictures on the internet, they're there forever and you don't have much recourse (unless someone posted nude pictures or something of the like). My parents are attorneys and they have scared my brother and me with stories. My brother doesn't have ANY type of social networking page because he has a somewhat secretive job and people he's worked with have been fired for things that USED to be on their pages (just because you've taken it down or made it private doesn't mean it can't be found or viewed by people who know how to do such things).

When I looked at the website, I figured it wasn't really "seen on" those networks at all. She's probably lying about that as well. I would contact the stations and magazines she says she's been featured on/in and explain the situation. I can see some type of "undercover expose" on 20/20 or something.

How much you want to bet the book's content is stolen too? He probably lifted text directly from our threads. SMH

If the site is still up tomorrow you ladies should call GoDaddy. They'll remove it.

HOW ABOUT WE BUY A COPY OF THE BOOK CUT & PASTE EVERY WORD AND PUT IN A THREAD FOR EVERYONE TO READ FOR FREEEEEEEE, LETS SHE HOW THEY LIKE THIER COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT ABUSED...

Seeing how this dude just looooves to hit up black hair care forums, I am going to bet that the information in the book is just a compilation of the things you can find here and other forums for free. But he is just trying to take advantage of everyone's work and pass it off as new knowledge.

Like someone said this is pretty sad, seeing that he had the energy to go from fotki to fotki trying to match everyone picture up based on skin color and bras.:nono:

Pun intended
The picture of "Dr. Nuevo" is probably a stolen picture, too. This is ugly. My sympathies to all involved.

This is sooo shady and dishonest... I am sorry this happen to you. I still think you need to make them remove it or take a legal action.
Just to cheer you up it also means you hair is stunning for it to be chosen for their marketing purposes :)

This is awful! I would do more than just ask for them to be removed. I think they should have some other consequence. Report them to the BBB as well for listing false ads and testimonials. It's rubbish.

I also think it's funny for them to post comparison pics of a natural puff and one of someone's hair flat ironed. Just plain stupid.

I had some multi-quotes in here, but now I can't find them.

Re: GreenEyedJen's comment: YES!!!! Photos aren't automatically removed once they're deleted from the Internet because photos have URLs of their own. This digital age is a trip, man!!!!!

lilsparkle825: I peeped the grammar errors too.:nono::nono::nono: If you're going to lie and pretend, AT LEAST do it well!

Btw, the Go Daddy Customer Service number is (480) 505-8877.

I feel so sorry for all the ladies who had their pictures stolen. I want to cuss (not curse) those people out for you. I called the number & got a disconnect message when I blocked and unblocked my number. I'll go back through this thread & find the e-mail information.

I mean she is lying over this whole thing as if her book made the girl hair grow... I would have excused her if she was advertising a flat ironning ( like if she had a hair care salon or something like that) and couldn't find a good picture to put up from her previous work. But she is selling her book based on lies... this is a shame

OMG this is awful!

For the ladies that had their pictures stolen, I'm wondering if these pictures were also used in the book.

That is awful...
ladies, I've also seen stolen pictures in a beauty and hair blog. This blogger posted pictures of her dominican salon experience and, although she credited one rollerset picture to the correct blogger, she then posted a picture of Dee at beautylogic.com who has a beautiful head of hair and did not credit her and let people assume it was HER hair. People were complimenting her on her hair and she never once corrected them. When Dee contacted the blogger, she said the pictures were not copyrighted so she could use them as she saw fit :/
pathetic

This is one of the reasons i've been thinking of locking my fotki or just closing it all together.

Sorry this happened to you OP.

I just don't understand why people steal others pictures. It seems especially strange to take a picture of someone else and claim it's you.

Oh man....so you have to have a premium account to lock albums on fotki?! When did they do that? I guess I'll be deleting a lot of stuff.

Somethings been telling me to do this anyway and this thread confirms it.

After reading the testimonials a few times, I think the typos are because the person putting it together are using product reviews from different people and patching them together to create the testimonials.

They take a review from lets say five sources and piece together a sentence or 2 from each one.

Thank you ladies for your support & advice! Thank you for sending him e-mails as well.

The stupid site is still up and running. What the heck?! I don't know about the other ladies that had their pics stolen, but I am ready to seek legal advice and sue for compensation. He/she/it is using our pics without consent, for commercial purposes. WHICH IS BEYOND ILLEGAL.

And get this...ITS NOT ACTUALLY A BOOK. From my understanding its just an e-book which you can download after you pay.

I've spread the word on several other hair sites. Unfortunately, those who are desperate enough to pay for that e-book probably don't even know about LHCF or any other sites with free info.

In summary, this is a HOT MESS. You ladies are great.

***AS FOR NOW, LADIES WHO HAD THEIR PICS STOLEN PLEASE TAKE A SCREEN SHOT OF YOUR PIC ON THE WEBSITE***

I agree with suing for what every proceeds she has so far from her books. next time she will be more honest with her crap. I think testimonials should have to go through some type of verification to many LIARS!
