My hair is 9wks post. I just took the braids out today and it was breaking so much that I swore never to braid my hair again. I am so sad. :nono:. I think I have to relax asap.

If you just took out braids, you should detangle, wash, deep condition really well with a good quality deep conditioner expressly meant for that purpose - not a conditioner you leave on longer or use with heat, but a real deep conditioner.

After that, be gentle with your hair and relax in another week or two - two is recommened, but I did it after one and was fine.

After unbraiding, your hair can be in a fragile state; it's best to lavish your locks with care before relaxing.

Are you able to fix your link so the picture can be viewed? When did your hair start breaking? While taking the braids down? After you washed? Could it have possibly just been shedding?

I am still trying to figure out this all posting pics thing.

My hair started breaking after I washed. It was breaking during unbraiding too, but mostly after washing.
I did a protein treatment, was this a mistake?

Did you follow the protein with lots of moisture? I know after I do any sort of protein treatment I need big doses of heavy moisture.

Time to deep condition with MOISTURE now.

Copy the links and put them in the "insert image" window that pops up when you are posting to the thread.

Oh, my goodness. thank you so much.
please PM me the instructions.
Thanks again

You should definitely wait until you spend at least a WEEK moisturizing your hair. I once went straight from braids to a perm and it broke my hair off:crying3:. Since you did a protein treatment - you hair is probably craving moisture right now. :orders: Absolutely DC your hair and follow with CO washes for at least one week but two weeks would be better - I would try to squeeze in a DC with every wash. Moisturize and seal ends. Stay away from products with protein right now and just baby and moisturize your hair as much as possible!!!!

the SAME thing happened to me. :( I got a perm the day after I took my braids out. all the growth (which was a lot) i got from the braids broke off. i got non stop breakage for 2 years straight. I had healthy thick SL and it broke off so bad. it got soooooooooooooo thin. I was so mad that my hairdresser didn't tell me to wait. I learned it later on on my own. That was almost 10 years ago and I kid you not my hair has not been the same since

please wait at least 2 weeks. you could get a blowout instead. just dont relax right away:nono:
