Well Ladies,

Today is the day! After six months of hiding behind buns, twists, braids, weaves, rollersets, wash n' gos, phony ponies, and yes wigs, it's time to let your hair swang!:rocker:

Whether you've retained length, thickness, or your hair is healthier than it's ever been, let's celebrate the fruitage of all of our hard labor.

Don't forget to join the new challenge if you haven't already:

Now let those locks flow for all to see!:lick: :needpics:

Here's mine, overall I'm happy with my progress, and in comparison from a year ago, the health of my hair has done a 180! I'm about an inch away from APL, so I should reach it before spring
Pic 5: HYH Part 2 starting pic
Pic 1: August 2011
Pic 2: Dec 2011
Pic 3: EOY 2010 Pic after 4 inch cut due to major breakage :nono:
Pic 4: Dec 2011 (same shirt as EOY 2010 to compare)
For some reason the pictures didn't load in the message in the order I uploaded them :ohwell:

June 2011 (A couple of inches from APL - the bra is really high)

December 2011 (Maybe an inch past APL?)

I cut about an inch in October and trimmed 1/4" - 1/2" in December.

Saving my spot. I'll be back to update after I flatiron.

ETA: Ok here are my pics. The first one is from the end of Nov. 2010. The second one is the June 30 2011 pic and the last one if 12/31/2011.

There is not much difference between the last two. Although it's hard to tell, in the middle pic, my hair is hitting probably in the middle of the bra. In the last pic, it is under the bra, but I couldn't stretch it all the way and take a good picture.

I did trim an inch or so after the June 30 pic, but still. I know I grow extremely slow in the fall/winter months, so maybe I need to try an growth aid to assist my progress.

Every time I attempt to flat iron it's a major fail LOLso on only posting curly pics if that's OK. I wasn't totally consistent in this challenge...mostly because I get best results with wigs & I couldn't always get my hair braided. I think I may have found a solution for the new year so I hope to keep my hair hidden for at least 6 months.

Anyway here is my starting pic

And here is from 3 weeks ago

And this is from 2 days ago

Okay ladies, as some of you know, I suffered quite few setbacks this year, from stress breakage, to a scissor happy stylist, to just plain ol' neglect.:nono: So I'm not too thrilled with my progress. Here goes:

This pic was taken in August (I was late posting due to twists):

Today's length check stretched/unstretched:

Here is a pic of the stress breakage back in April. My hair had broken down to an inch long throughout my head. :nono:

The broken pieces are growing in nicely:

Don't like how thin my hair looks straight, and I also need a trim (not feeling those raggedy looking ends one bit).

Here is a wet length check:

Actually, if I stop and put things into perspective, I actually did well in getting back most of the length I lost earlier this year. That said, I'm looking forward to great progress in 2012!:yep:

I'll be in next weekend when my photographer runs from Christmas break. Plus, I'm pissed b/c I burned my freaking hair. I had the flatiron up too high and now all I smell is burnt hair.

Congrats ladies. you all did well. CoCo, your broken pieces are growing in well, you have beautiful hair.

My main style of choice was wash-n-gos, keep in mind that I started back at NL back in March with some left over relaxed ends. Now I'm fully natural since March and also trimmed my ends back in september and I am very satisfied with the results i had this year.

From August to December 2011

Thank you Ijanei! When I woke up this morning I put things into a new perspective. I've pretty much gained back most of what I lost, and I am determined to keep it moving in 2012.:yep:

You've made such beautiful progress! I remember how much you struggled with the HYH challenge a few cycles back. This year you really embraced it, and now you're Au Naturale, AND you've grown to new lengths! I can see you at BSL by the end of the year, if not sooner.:yep:

This was one of the first challenges I joined when I first found LHCF. I had always had pretty decent relaxed hair, but starting a demanding job, I decided to weave it and forget it. I did that back to back for about 6 months. Not good. I started my hair journey in March 2011, with a big broken off patch of hair at the back on my head :nono:

My first attempt at twists....pitiful, i know.

I finally did a length check (around July2011)..I still had relaxed ends tho, not sure why I was holding onto them. The orange line is where my natural hair ended.

I finally BCd in October, and I am in LOVE with my hair. I have tried so many new things, become an unrepentant product junkie, and discovered the beauty of my hair.

I hid my hair with rope twist braids for 6-8weeks at a time

Length check in Oct, 2011

Dec 2011 Length Check

Here are some styles while hiding my hair..

I made my 2011 goal of SL!! :dance7: On to APL in 2012:grin:
