December '08 OCT/Mega-Tek Challenge-Wrap up

:lachen:

I would see this when I'm stuck under the steamer, wouldn't you!? :lachen:

I think it's so slow because of the holidays, and because a lot of people have more or less figured out their routines/regimens, and it's coasting.

Maybe we should all do updates about what we are doing/using? That would be cool.....

I'm using a MT mix (MT, SAA, Honeyquat, MoeGro Oil, Vit. E oil) on Sun/Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri, first applying some coffee oil, and then the MT.
I :look: do a moisturizing DC overnight on Wed, and I steam/DC my hair on Saturday.
Conditioner wise, I'm primarially using Elasta QP IFC and Eqyss Premier, usually mixed with some hibiscus for the extra softening.

I'm henna'ing about every 3-4 months.

ETA: Oooh, share, share!!

what steamer are you using?

what steamer are you using?

SamanathaJones's. :lachen:

Two turbie towels, two showercaps, and a soft bonnet dryer. My head is steaming - I can feel my scalp being stimulated. :lick:
I've been doing it every week since the weather got cold, and it's just been lovely. I'm stuck in one place, since the heat has to be maintained, but it's my 'catch up on LHCF on the weekend' time.

So I've been using MT since early November. So Its been about 5 weeks and some days. I don't really have anything to report other than major shedding. I used the oil from some minced garlic in a jar. Then I realized that I can use the gel from the Garlic Gel Capsules. So I did half my head with the garlic oil an the other half with the gel. I must say that it worked.

Anywho, my hair is a little thicker but I don't know if I should attribute it to the MT or to stretching for 10-12 weeks and texlaxing with a mild relaxer.

I began using it mixed with coconut oil, rosewater and glycerin. I did that for the first week and then I went raw. I also condition the length of my hair with it sometimes followed by another DC with AO HSR. I don't have any problems with protein overload.

So... I guess I'll finish this bottle and see what happens along the way. I think I may try OCT when I get over the price.

Just thought I'd share.

My hair is noticeably thicker, i'm still waiting on my growth spurt from OCT. I just purchased a new bottle of each so hopefully by the end of these bottles (february/mid-march) i should have full sl hair...

Is it normal to not experience a lot of shedding? Almost everyone seems to have shedding issues.
I am using OCT nearly everyday, but I am not loosing a lot of hair at all.
I hope it is working, I can't really tell. I will do some comparisons on the weekend.

The shedding/itching varies from person to person - so if you aren't having a lot of shedding, then yeah, that's normal for you. :yep:

I am still on OCT (using it with MN instead of MT) I still have lots of OCT but I think I am going to go ahead and order more MT. I am tempted to get the holiday pack at OCT jsut so I can try the creme rinse... I am trying to not comb or straighten my hair until sometime in January...tho I may do it next week for my bday. I know MT was working...I think OCT works...but I am not certain. I will take another progress pic maybe in January.

The Ovation Creme Rinse is  when using the Cell Therapy. I use the entire system together and it's my product line for life.

Most of the Cell Therapy users do not experience shedding. I didn't and I've been using it consistently since March 2008.

I will be posting my pics tommorrow After I get my relaxer. This was my first stretch w/o being in braids so it Lasted 8 wks. (im proud of myself.) I cant wait!

I finally got a bottle of MT! I'll also be ordering some OCT before the new year so I can use them both. It does smell good!
I can't wait until the 1st to start using them!

I never had any shedding. :look:

I've been awol for the month. I was in a sew-in so I had discontinued my MT use for a few weeks. Sew-in is out. Hair is freshly relaxed. And I'm still in love.

I've been using MT sine June, so I have obtained quite a bit of growth from it. It's not really evident as far as pictures since I keep cutting my hair. :look: However, I have thin ends so they have got to go. :nono:

I have very fine hair that breaks easily and MT has been helping my hair grow in thicker, stronger, and quicker. I can literally SEE the hair that has grown in pre-MT vs post-MT (serious line of demarcation :nono:) and the difference is astounding. I don't like wearing my hair down anymore since those thin ends are so evident. So I'll probably keep trimming until I have a head full of MT'd hair. :yep:

I'm looking forward to seeing the challengers in the upcoming year. :yep:

Quick history, I was growing out my current bob style and had wonderful progress, I was getting MICRO trims ....just the VERY VERY edges every 6 weeks or so (I know....bad me) and then I decided I wanted to highlight my hair in a few places. Ahhh, YA....horrrible idea. I dye my hair black about 2-3 times a year (permenant color) and have not had issues. My stylist who I totally trust to cut my hair, believed that we could do some higlights (Redken Professional) and "lift" the black and add a funky/cute red color. We applied it, and I sat and sat and sat and then sat under heat and about 30-40 minutes later ......a mild shade of red was creaping through. We laughed and came to the conclusion that the 6-8 or so places that had color would just have to have a subtle tone which was cool also. DC'd, round brush blowdried, quick flat iron to smooth a few areas and I was on my merry way. Then within 2 days I noticed the strands that had been "colored" were so VERY VERY fine and weak, withing a few more days there were breaking at the touch. Everywhere I looked I had broken hair and my head had patches where the texture was drastically different. So over the following 3 months I have had to cut my hair, not trim but cut to gradually get rid of the severly damaged areas, colored a black die after about a month because the "highlight" colored was getting lighter over time and really showed the damage and black die usually conditions my hair? After the black, I began the search for "doing" right by my hair, growing it long (sl) again like I had it last year and challenging myself to grow is to BSL for the first time in my life.

I said ALL that to say that I have had ongoing breakage despite the great products I have found along the way and read about on LHCF but yesterday I tried MEGA TEK REBUILDER for the first time and OMG!!!:drunk: I cannot believe it.....the breakage has been lessened about 90%. I even went as far as to try different types of brushes, combs, finger combing......and practically NO breakage  (I know....low manipulation....but I was in awe that my ivory counter tops and white tee shirt were not covered in hair ends/pieces/breakage like I had grown used to)

When I went to bed last night I remembered I should massage my scalp with MT so I jumped  out of bed, took off my silk wrap and began my new routine of lightly coating and massaging my scalp. Woke up this AM to shiny, bouncy, healthy FEELing hair!!!:yep: I added some FEKKAI glossing cream and I was good to go!!!!

I know I need to manage and balance the moisture to avoid potential breakage from high protein levels and I plan to do so, but ladies....in ONE use, I am a serious believer. Now if this darn product ALSO grows my hair at a faster rate, then FABULOUS, but I was pleased with the almost complete reduction of breakage......even on the damaged strands!!!!!

Im loving how healthy my hairs feels, can't wait to see what 3 more weeks will reveal for this December Challenge!!!!!!!

UPDATE!!! My hair is stronger, getting thicker, and feels softer.....I am surprised how fast this is working to make a difference in my hair! And I ABSOLUTELY have more new growth than I normally would now. I will be adding OCT to my plan starting today....it arrived today. Sooooo exciting to see all these changes! Thanks for the inspiration ladies!!!. :yep:

OT: I so love your haircut! I want that!

Does anyone know when the next progress pics are supposed to be revealed? I always never know and then I put in something long term and then its reveal time!!

I just measured my MT'd hair and I've grown 5 inches in almost 6 months. I'm VERY pleased with my progress with this product. :yep: For the most part I've been consistent, but I wore 2 sew-in weaves during this time and halted MT use while they were in. Never mind pleased, I'm ecstatic about the growth!
