Hi Sherry Love I'm new too and I have a lot to learn. You are one of the reasons I decided to join this board. I also read about you on one of the other boards. I don't know if you realize it or not, but you are so inspiring to a lot of folks.
Because of your advice I also now use all natural products. I absolutley love the Giovanni Direct Leave in and the Aubrey aloe gel. This stuff is awsome.
My hair was very damaged and felt like straw before and now it is so soft and shiny. You really know your stuff Sherry Love. I like that you keep your regimen simple. I think less is better when it comes to our hair. Congrats to you! and you go girl!

it is so funny because the day after (6/13/03) i originally posted this topic my grandma chopped four inches off of my hair.
But I am almost back to that length, and it looks much healthier.... .

Sherry when I first came to this site, you were feature of the month, I was in awe!!!
Then as I started to see other ladies here accomplishing the same thing, all my doubts about growing hair to waist length flew away. I am so glad I stayed. This time I am not giving up on my hair uh uh no way!! Sherry your hair is beautiful:D

Sherry, it was you that led me to LHCF. Fell in love with your hair then when I found you on another board and like a faithful fan followed you here. I still
your hair. I noticed when you grew an inch in a month after the trim even though you take very little by way of hair vits... and so hearing you're AT waist-length (how modest of you to play that down), comes as no surprise. You have always defied what I considered normal and re-educated me, not just by words, but by visible proof on what black hair is capable of.

Keep up the good work, Sherry; there's many of us that look up to you!

Very beautiful, if your mom and grandmother's hair is like yours, hair is truly your family's crowning glory, you are very blessed to be an heiress to such beautiful locks. You are an inspiration to me.

Hi, Sherrylove

Thank you for your response and encouragement. My hair is approximately 8-10 inches long. I wash it every week sometimes twice (not often though), apply deep conditioner (Aphogee, Cathy Howse or and other Protein conditioner to it). I apply a moisturizer either olive oil, wildgrowth, or luster silk pink oil (not recently though), blow dry (not completely) then air dry for about 2 hours. I tried to do a wetset but my hair is very coarse. It looks good the first day but I'm unable to run a comb through it after awhile. I used to have a perm, approximately four years ago, either stress or too many different stylists caused it to come out. I was diagnosed with having seborrhea dermatitis (scalp disorder).
I had obtained right about shoulder length hair earlier in my stages with the perm but something went wrong. I had prayed for help for my hair and came across the book Why Black Women are Losing their hair and then I found Cathy Howse book another 6". Both were very information. I can't believe that I absolutely knew nothing about moisturing the hair. Yes, I was one of those people who greased their scalp and hair. Now that I look back when I had the perm it must have been the wetsets I was doing to retain moisture. But as I mentioned earlier I am natural with press and curl option and I want to still obtain that length and possibly longer with what I'm doing now. Maybe some day I may revisit the idea of getting another relaxer. Thanks again.
