Tell me about hibiscus oil

I have read on several websites and blogs that hibiscus oil is good for hair. It is supposed to help hair grow, strengthen it, and add shine. I would like to hear from someone who has been using hibiscus oil. Do it smell? Does regular use of the oil leave color? I've read that hibiscus is combined with henna to give more reddish color, but I don't know if just the oil would do that.

ugh..I wrote this post & got timed out.

I use hibiscus (aka jabaskusum) infused oil mixed in my deep conditioners, clay mixes or as a pre-poo. Hibiscus has a sweet floral (rose-like) scent. It smells exactly like Starbuck's Passion Tea.

A really strong infusion has a pink tinge. It may color grey or blonde hair if left in. My hair is dark, so I haven't noticed any change. Hibiscus is one of the Ayurvedic herbs that is very conditioning. It can be used for long periods without drying out the hair.

These are the oils I've used:

Jabakusum Taila Perfumed Hair Oil - http://www.myhenna.us/taila-perfumed-hair-oil/

Hesh Ancient Formulae Jabakusum Herbal Hair Oil (contains mineral oil, I no longer use this one) - http://www.amazon.com/Hesh-Jabakusum-Herbal-Hair-200ml/dp/B000OZJPXO

Bibliophile,

Thanks for you response. I don't have the oil, but I have been added hibiscus powder to my conditioners. I like the idea of getting some additional conditioning. I think that it would probably take a lot for me to get any reddish tone, although I would be happy if it was on my gray hairs.:yep:
