Hits & Misses December 2014

I like the Detangling conditioner but I can't stand the smell. It does work better than KCKT.

I didn't even notice the smell. Interesting. Hopefully, it stays that way because my hair feels FABULOUS after using this. I think that this may be headed towards staple status!

Hit: Bobeam Condish – Stimulate

Several months ago, I was able to procure a jar of this product from a beloved LHCF Hair Sista, and my experiences with that one jar is what led to me purchasing an obscene number of jars during a recent sale; but I digress…

This is a light, creamy conditioner that is similar in consistency to Hairveda’s Sitrinillah and Bel Nouvo’s Creamy Castor DC. Apparently, this vendor prefers to fill the jars according to weight and not volume because its contents ended just below the lower portion of the rim. At any rate, upon application, the product completely disappears and is immediately absorbed into the hair, which may lead to heavy-handedness and oversaturation (hey, it only happened once:ohwell:). It also provides instant softness and slip, and it did not take much product to fully saturate my entire head. Since I opted for the Stimulate version of the DC, the peppermint EO caused a nice tingling sensation on my scalp, which I didn’t mind.

I always DC with this product under a cap for approximately an hour without heat and each time I’ve gleaned the same results – highly moisturized, ridiculously soft hair. Let me explain: the first few times I used this product, I kept rinsing and rinsing because the level of softness was so high that I was sure that there was still product in my hair. Let me explain further: the only time a DC proffers this level of softness and moisture is after it has been mixed with a few tablespoons of certain carrier oils. Please, allow me to explain once again: this is a damn good deep conditioner!

Given its exceptional performance and the exemplary customer service displayed by the vendor (e.g., it took 4 days for me to receive my order and she always responds promptly to all inquiries) along with the decent price point ($10 for 8oz), I am willing to overlook the volume versus weight thingy and bestow staple status to this product.

I urge everyone to try this product at least once...just leave a few jars available for me.

I concur. It was out when I grabbed the cocoa conditioner :(

Hits: Natty Butter and Jakeala's Butters...super soft skin. I can't wait to try them on my hair, especially the JAkeala Hemp Parfait

Bellezza Naturalle Soaps
I'm so glad I found this vendor. I placed an order yesterday and already received a shipping notice today. I really hope she keeps up this great customer service, I've convoed with her several times and Sandra the owner is a doll
.

I'm so glad you pulled the coat on this vendor! I ordered a soap/lotion combo in lavender vanilla and couldn't be happier. Shipping and delivery times were on point. The scent is divine, and she threw in a free full bar of soap just because. I'd been holding off buying some new lotion and I'm glad I waited. Thanks again! BIG HIT!

I agree, its bomb. Wish it came in a 16oz bottle.

OGX dry oil spray (any) These are great for pressed/straight hair. Weightless so hair is still full of body.

Revisited Hit:
Darcy's Botanicals Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme. When only a pea sized amount is used, it's perfect. Any thing more will leave you a grease monkey.

Elucence shampoos
Curl Junkie & Giovanni conditioners

BIG disappointment!

HAIRVEDA Deep Conditioning Hair Masque (SITRINILLAH)

I expected it to reach HG status the minute it touched my hair. It did nothing. I slathered on almost a fourth of the jar and I would have had better results rubbing icing through my hair! No slip. No moisture. No detangling. So disappointed.

There is nothing deep conditioning about the ingredients: water, oils, humectant, emulsifiers, preservatives, fragrance. I feel jipped and hoodwinked!

I got the same reaction when I used this. I used half of jar the first time. I just kept slathering to get soften my hair, but nothing happened. I never got the hype about this product. My hair is natural, 4c high porosity, so it needs much more than what this DC has to offer.
I recently tried the new green tea DC, and it was just as disappointing. It might have been a bit better, but worth my time.

MAJOR MISS
Mission Condition Dream a Little Curl left my hair looking like a nightmare. I think somebody forgot the emulsifier because this crap is watery and lumpy and not mixed together at all. Looks like instant oatmeal with too much water added to it. Why do I always get the coal in my socks?:ohwell:

ronie - Your comments are the first on here that I am reading where someone else said it did nothing for their hair. Every other comment made it seem like the second coming of conditioners! As I slathered this mess on, I felt like a fool thinking maybe after I rinse I'll feel the softness. Then as the water got cold, I kept thinking any minute now it'll kick in. Nada. A fool! I even wondered if it was a fake since I didn't get it from the original supplier. It was the WORST conditioner I had EVER used. Even 99cent store no name cheapie do something more than this. Hoodwinked!

I'm selling mine (in product forum) bc so many people loved it so maybe someone else wants the rest of this stuff.

This was another miss for me too. I posted about it in the Mission:Condition thread. The whole line does nothing for me. I had to repurpose everything. I am using it up by mixing it with the monoi, pumpkin and whatever else crap I ordered to prepoo and wash out. The monoi is another big disappointment but at least as a prepoo it leaves my hair moisturized. I can't even prepoo with hairveda.

Revisited Hit:
MHC Buttery Soy Hair Creme. *A Winter HG & A Winter Must Have*

IDareT'sHair - how are you using it?

I used some today on my puff and I haven't decided. I put extra on my edges, tied a scarf on, and now my edges are sleek and smooth so I like that. I haven't decided if it traps moisture well enough to be a true hit for me.

I didn't like Hairveda's mask either. I bought it years ago and it just made my hair hard and smell like oranges for a while. I used the rest of the jar but it did the same thing with every application and I had to follow it with something moisturizing. It didn't even act as a protein treatment - it just made my hair hard for no reason. Everyone raves about it but it didn't work for me, as a natural or relaxed.

Miss : mission condition everything. The conditioners were absolute watery mess, the deep conditioner felt somewhat more like a rinse out conditioner but left half the moisture. This stuff jacked up my hair and caused me extra breakage!

Hit : Annabelle's perfect blends everything! I love her deep conditioning mask, her blueberry deep conditioners and I am about to try her leave in. Erica is very nice and a great business woman. I hate that I wasted money on the mission condition mess and not bought more if Erica's stuff.

Maybe hit : Darcy's botanicals pumpkin seed conditioner. I need to try it again but first tine was great. Detangling power, moisture etc.

Just like any ol' regula' Butta'.:lick:

Please Report back!:yep:

I hate to hear that. I love it! I purchased several over their previous sale. I hope and pray that she didn't change the formulation. Did you use it with heat? I normally leave it on my hair with a plastic bag for 30 minutes to a hour or under my steamer. Give it a try with heat if you haven't. I'm going to check the ingredients now.

. Yep on ingredient is missing. I'm going to try the new one over the weekend. I still have two jars old version in my stash.

Sitrinillah is one of my Ride or Die HG DC'ers:love:(even though I haven't used it much lately).

Too busy experimenting with other stuff....:look:

And it's also one of (if not the only one) of a Citrus-y type product that doesn't set my Scalp totally on FIYAH!:heated:

I don't think it matters. I tried Sitrinillah in 2007/2008 and my hair hated it. I tried in again a couple of years later and my hair still hated it. No softness, no slip, no moisture, just hard hair.

I think Strinillah is a love or hate. My hair loves it. But the ladies I know that don't like it, never like it...no matter what they try. Pre poo, heat, no heat...doesn't matter. It's either love or hate. Lol
