America's Last Days?

As we watch sin spiral out of control and hearts growing cold and hostility towards The Lord increase - we must face the fact that our nation is on the decline. The fate of a nation that forgets God is sealed: The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God. Psalm 9:17

In addition to this - I had a thought this morning getting dressed for church: "What if America was raised up by The Lord primarily to be in position to free the Jews from the Holocaust? Could it be that the USA has fulfilled her purpose?" I know there is a theme in scripture of The Lord raising up nations to bless or punish Israel... but I couldn't find a particular scripture.
Does this sound off track?

We also know that America doesn't have a key role in End Times Prophesy.

I'm sorry, but the U.S. was sinfully QUIET at the height of the struggle in WWII and went silent despite much American Jewish outcry. Even after '48, when Jews were in tatters and boats, trying to land somewhere (even before the end of the war), the American turned those boats AWAY from these shores. They ended up in Argentina and Cuba. D-Day...bravo...they finally got involved. Franklin Delano Roosevelt didn't give a good darn about Jews and neither did his administration. The Americans got involved for the good christian people of Europe...:perplexed

And since when has this country truly been "g-dly?" They started out wrongly, they will most likely end wrongly....in sin. All the "shoahs" of this country has yielded oceans of tears that G-d saves of each and every victim. He hasn't forgotten and neither should any of us. This country has always been sinful. Now, there have always been SOME good people and most of those have been victimized by a very sinful set of laws, making them question morality even. I personally don't think this nation is any more damned by what's happening now than compared to any other set of circumstances.

Thanks JB.

I do understand what prompted America's involvement. Regardless of the motive the US was instrumental in the end of the Holocaust. The Lord raises up kings and kingdoms to fulfill His purposes and if I am interpreting scripture correctly the nations generally don' have any knowledge of heir purpose in The Lord's plan.

Again, if America is destined to retain its "might" and independence there should be at least a reference to the US in eschatology.

I truly know what you mean, but many people wrongly try to code the U.S. into exchatology. It could be there, but then again, why not other countries? The focus is all wrong, imho (not yours). Every great nation has considered itself worthy to be included in scripture and some are definitely mentioned. G-d does use the nations to His own purpose. I dunno, when I consider the sins of Israel...the sins of the U.S....it's all the same to me. What I think people ought do is pray that G-d ingathers all the people Israel and awakens them to their true heritage. That time is coming. Pray that G-d hasten it. Also, pray that G-d preserves our nation. Well, don't our families live here? Nations have been obliterated...we've seen that with Yugoslavia and several others. May G-d preserve the land of our people...is all I can pray. I don't think they are anymore doomed than any other sinful nation. May the L-rd's anger be slow. Because if not, same-sex marriage wouldn't necessarily tip over the vessel of doom anymore than mass genocides and all other sorts of inhumanity, including abortion...maybe I'm wrong...but I hardly see G-d passing over murder for same-sex marriage.

Praying for God's mercy on our nation? Absolutely!

If America isn't prominent in eschatology, I would wager because it means we would no longer be America--either we're looking at a decimated country, or a country so divided that we actually do split off into regions and are no longer U.S.A.

The Prophecy of St. Nilus, who lived around 400 AD:

"After the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century, the people of that time will become unrecognizable. When the time for the Advent of the Antichrist approaches, people's minds will grow cloudy from carnal passions, and dishonor and lawlessness will grow stronger. Then the world will become unrecognizable. People's appearances will change, and it will be impossible to distinguish men from women due to their shamelessness in dress and style of hair. These people will be cruel and will be like wild animals because of the temptations of the Antichrist. There will be no respect for parents and elders, love will disappear, and Christian pastors, bishops, and priests will become vain men, completely failing to distinguish the right-hand way from the left. At that time the morals and traditions of Christians and of the Church will change. People will abandon modesty, and dissipation will reign. Falsehood and greed will attain great proportions, and woe to those who pile up treasures. Lust, adultery, homosexuality, secret deeds and murder will rule in society.

At that future time, due to the power of such great crimes and licentiousness, people will be deprived of the grace of the Holy Spirit, which they received in Holy Baptism and equally of remorse.

"The Churches of God will be deprived of God-fearing and pious pastors, and woe to the Christians remaining in the world at that time; they will completely lose their faith because they will lack the opportunity of seeing the light of knowledge from anyone at all. Then they will separate themselves out of the world in holy refuges in search of lightening their spiritual sufferings, but everywhere they will meet obstacles and constraints. And all this will result from the fact that the Antichrist wants to be Lord over everything and become the ruler of the whole universe, and he will produce miracles and fantastic signs. He will also give depraved wisdom to an unhappy man so that he will discover a way by which one man can carry on a conversation with another from one end of the earth to the other. At that time men will also fly through the air like birds and descend to the bottom of the sea like fish. And when they have achieved all this, these unhappy people will spend their lives in comfort without knowing, poor souls, that it is deceit of the Antichrist. And, the impious one! ? he will so complete science with vanity that it will go off the right path and lead people to lose faith in the existence of God in three hypostases.

"Then the All-good God will see the downfall of the human race and will shorten the days for the sake of those few who are being saved, because the enemy wants to lead even the chosen into temptation, if that is possible... then the sword of chastisement will suddenly appear and kill the perverter and his servants."

Makes perfect sense. Especially with our growing debt.

Also, according to Ezekiel 38, when Israel is attacked before the Tribulation she will have no allies; so either America has withdrawn support of Israel by then or is no position to lend any assistance.
