Default Naturals...how do you slick your edges down smooth?

Ok, so earlier, I posted a thread asking naturals one thing they miss about past relaxed hair. I adore my natural hair but what I prob miss the most is the smooth edges with no flyaways.

Can anyone recommend a product for a 4b gal like myself that will smooth down my natural hair, wet or dry, without getting those flyaways? I want smooth perfection! Is that asking too much?

I'm not a 4b but using avocado or mango butter on wet hair usually does the trick.

I was gonna co-sign on your post in that thread.

I like for my ponytails to be smooth and I haven't mastered that with my natural hair yet.

Fantasia IC gel.... under conditioner on water-misted hair. The blue Fantasia IC gel with just a little bit of the brown...I did that this morning.... so far, so good!

Try pure honey and some mango butter, preferrably on wet hair, then tie it down tight. I do this for my edges when I'm stretching.

I'm not natural (but texlaxed) with 4b texture. During my latter weeks post relaxer, my edges can get wild. To tame them, I rub castor oil and water between my hands and apply the mixture to my edges. Then, I tie my hair down with a silk scarf for overnight. In the morning, I have nice smooth edges with no flyaways.

ETA: I'm 6 weeks post touchup right now with about 1-1/4 inch of new growth, and this method is working wonderfully.

You know, all the years I've been natural, I've never used any pure natural butters. I gotta get me some, right now, asap.

I use coconut oil.

Have you tried using a scarf? That usually helps.

IC fantasia gel mixed w/ a tad bit of curl wax. THen I tie my hair down w/ a scarf and get in the shower etc.. or what ever else. I even had to use the scarf when my hair was relaxed to control fly aways.

I use Komaza's Coconut Hair Pudding as a gel http://komazacare.com/haircare.html. It's too small to use all over my hair (I'm cheap ) but is slicks my edges back (wet or dry) like nobodies business...and it stays that way ALL DAY.

HTH

When I wash n go...I use conditioner and a scarf to lay my edges down

When I have flat iron....normally all I have to do at night is use a scarf and my hair lays down with no problem.

I use IC Gel on wet or damp hair and it works great. I don't know what will work for dry hair. I rarely style my hair when it's completely dry.

I'm a 4a (I think) and these are some of the main products I use to lay my edges down AFTER they've been moisturized.

OR

AND...

And then I use the neck strips to hold my edges down until dried

Works like a charm!!

Avocado butter or giovanni leave-in conditioner. I know that maybe hard to believe ,but the giovanni conditioner actually makes my edges appear to be permed. I used water/conditoner with a silk scarf.

I'm using Cibu Origumi. It's working well and keeping things shiny the way I like it.

I use the Aveda or Keracare pomade stick and slick it on there then run the tip of my curling iron over it...I don't know if this is healthy or not but it works. Then I tie a silk scarf on super tight and pray to the Hair Goddess that it will be flat in the morning...it usually works!

Gel, a toothbrush and a scarf. I use fantasia gel and brush the edges w/ a toothbrush, the toothbrush gets every little hair smooth, then tie it down with a scarf until it dries. Perfect edges.
