Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

I definitely missed it! Can you give the gist of what the hair architypes are? And what difference would that make with how you use the Press Play Line?
Mya rarely saves and posts her lives. When she does, its usually little snippets. So I took notes. I waited until I made it home to look over them so I dont tell you anything wrong.

There are 8 DouxPrints
1. Proud Mary
She wants to wear her virgin curly/coily hair 100% of the time.
-To get Douxplex technology, she can use Press Rewind Shampoo, Fast Forward Conditioner, Just Glaze as a leave-in, Gangster Wrap as a leave-in, Doux Drops for shine and Mist Demeaner from the Bee Girl Collection for shine.

2. 2 Timer
She only straightens her hair roughly 2 times a year for special occasions
-She needs to use Press Rewind Shampoo and Fast Forward Conditioner for a month with weekly washes before attempting to straighten her hair. She should also consider using Silent Treatment. She can use the whole system when straightening her hair, but should manage her expectations.

3. Hyrbid Hustler
She wears her hair stretched out as in blowouts, but never bone straight.
-She can use the whole system minus Silent Treatment. Blowouts need the frizz.

4. El Chopo
She wears pixies, fade, finger waves and use micro curling irons.
-She can use the whole system. Gangster Wrap will be useful.

5. Monie in the Middle
She is transitioning from relaxed to natural. I guess this could apply to someone who is a long term stretcher. She is wearing her straight as she transitions.
-She can use the whole system. Silent treatment should mainly be used on the new growth. Gangster Wrap can give more control on the roots also.

6. Bougie Bombshell
She is a roller set girl who mainly does doobie wraps. So wet set on rollers and then flat wrap under a hooded dryer. Not the Dominican blowout.
-She only needs Press Rewind Shampoo, Fast Foward Conditioner, Silent Treatment (maybe) and Gangster Wrap.

7. Versatile Vixen
She goes back and fourth between wearing her hair straight and then natural. So 50/50.

8. Straight Gansta
She is a straight hair natural. She wears her straight 90% of the time and doesn't care if she losses her curls.

Versatile Vixen and Gangsta have the same routine. I will fall under Versatile Vixen. So I paid more attention to this info. The system as a whole should be used. She doesn't suggest cherry picking products to get the best effect. I guess Gangsta Wrap could be used for something like slick backs. There is a big emphasis on Silent Treatment. It is a humidity shield that last 30 days or 4 washes on the hair. It seems very similar to Color Wow Dream Coat or Dry Bar Smoothing Sealant.

To start the system, a person would first do the Press Rewind Shampoo, Fast Foward Conditioner and then Silent Treatment. If you want the full strength of the humidity shield, you would forgo the conditioner and go straight in with Silent Treatment. This treatment is only suppose to be used once a month. From there, you use O.P.P. heat protecting spray to flat iron and Doux Drops as a finishing polish.

This seems to be coming from the perspective that a person washes their hair weekly instead of the silk press every 2 to 4 weeks as we often see pushed. So for the next 3 weeks, you use Press Rewind, Fast Foward, O.PP. and Doux Drops on each straightening session. Then you start the process over again after roughly 30 days. Make sure scalp and hair are both dry before flat ironing.

To ensure curls will stay intact for the Versatile Vixen, it is suggest to use a ceramic flat iron and keep the temperature between 380F and 410F. To find optimal temperature, do a patch test with heat on the most resistant area. Go up on heat in 5 degree increments until desired temperature is found. She put emphasis on trying to use the lowest temperature that works. Also, she says that a person can use a higher temperature with ceramic than titanium and not mess up the curl pattern.

For Straight Gangstas, she said they could be using heat as a relaxer alternative. If you don't care about your curls, you can use titanium flat irons in addition to ceramic. The sweet spot is usually 410- 420, but you can go as high as you need without burning your hair off. Using titanium at high heats to straighten the hair on a weekly basis will loosen your curls.

@DVAntDany Thank you so much for giving such a thorough response! I really appreciate it!

So I'm Straight Gangsta for the foreseeable future LOL. Good to know that Silent Treatment is meant to be used once a month or every 4 washes. I'll keep that in mind.

This product has been in my stash for YEARS. I almost threw it away! It didn’t go bad so I tried it and I am in LOVE. I apply over my gel when I'm washing and if I need to slick my hair back it provides hold. I slick my hair back with a leave in.

I finally made my way near a Target yesterday. I had checked in store availability last week and they had everything in stock. Now the only things they had in stock from the newest collections were the 808 gel and the gansta wrap foam. They might be sold out everywhere at this point. I'm glad that I didn't wait to order, but they haven't shipped out anything either. So its still a waiting game.

Did you get around to watching their Instagram Live? It was really informative. They will have even more of them related to the new items and give live demos as well. In case you missed it, Mya went over her Douxprints (hair architype/profiles) and told how best to use this new system based on the hair architype.
I didn't watch their Instagram live, but today I will check their page and still if it is still on there. I already have a pretty large range that I used to make my presses last a full month. So, I know this line won't be a night and day difference for straightening my hair, but I expect they will be a good addition to my hair arsenal. I am off to search for the video. I love Mya's personality. She reminds me of my older female cousins.

Ahh I looks like I missed it. I thought I had time to go back.

Well, I am a "Versatile Vixen" based on your notes and go back and forth between different styles. Thanks for the notes. I bought the whole line. It hasn't shipped yet but I don't plan to straighten my hair again until spring after or around Easter. So I am not rushing. I just didn't want items to be sold out by the time I was ready for it. Good Day has been out of stock for a long time and I didn't want to risk that on one of these.

I need to grow up certain spots in my head to get it all even.

I’m taking MSM with biotin and added in geritol with some additional B 12. I’m a few different lengths with my last cut in August.

Currently collar bone length stretched in the back. The sides are shoulder length stretched.

The middle of my head is the shortest along with my bang.

I’m thinking to going to grow it all out to collar bone stretched. However I need to stay up on my trims and not get scissor happy.

Unless your hair
is relaxed and
you want it
to fall to
the same level
because you will
wear it down,
what you describe
sounds like your
hair is uniform
length all around.

The hair at
the nape will
stretch to the
farthest point
on your body
cuz it has a
short distance
to go. The hair
at the crown
has to travel
farthest so will
fall to a higher
part on your
body. This afro
is a perfect
circle because
the hair is
uniform length all
around.

The nape naturally
would reach farther
than the crown.

So don't go
all scissor happy
and cut your
hair in a shape
for wearing straight
hair down all
the time if
you plan on
having versatility
of wearing hair
in different styles
including updos.

Pantene avocado shampoo and conditioner does really well and my hair has grown tremendously. I can only find it on amazon to buy

Has anyone tried this? My daughter used it today and said her grandmother bought it for her. After rinsing this conditioner her hair was easier to detangle. I’m prepooing with it now. Been snowed in and bored, so it’s time for some self care.

There is something to behold to happy hair growth and health. Looking at research today on thyroid and mental health and the more I learned the more I see how this may contribute to my lack of baby toe length hair despite my hardest and costly efforts. It’s a hard pill to think as I don’t enjoy Drs yet will need to get examined but finding a functional Dr will be interesting.

GL to you!! I'm hoping you find a compassionate, compatible doc who listens to you and helps resolve your concerns!

I swear finding a doctor wasn't hard for me until the last 6 or 7 years! Lol

Thank you, I really hope so my last few doctors I feel just don’t think outside the box which is how they are trained.

On the Pantene website, it states the coconut milk and avocado shampoo and conditioner are no longer available. I'm not sure that actually means discontinued because it says the same for new products they have recently released. However, they have discontinued quite a few products over the past few months. I mostly see the Nutrient Blends styling/treatment products gradually dwindling.

Anyone have a fav hard water shampoo before I go to Sally’s this week? I know they have one. Was debating on that or the Malibu one. I know most of y’all live in mansions with water softeners in it. I’m trying to be on that soon.

I just tried the Malibu one, and it didn't strip my hair at all! It left it clean and moisturized. My hair came out really light when I flatironed it. For me, it didn't feel clarifying but my hair's porosity is low.

Ok this is good to hear did you use the packet too or just the shampoo?
