Every since I started wearing a wig, I have Totally Neglected my hair and I can tell, I just throw the wig on and go, My Husband keep telling me to throw the damn wig in the Trash. I am sick of the Jerry Juice, but it is the only thing that keeps my hair soft at the moment, so I used that like every other day! My hair hates shea butter, shea butter and aloe, oils etc. But I ordered a Butter and it should be here this week and I am gonna see how that works. Wish Me Luck!!

Revamping my entire reggie since I'm a red head again :D. Co-washing is making a come back, incorporating more ceramide products, looking into the John Frieda glosses as well as the cellophanes from roundbrushhair, and Aphogee products will definitely be more prevalent.

I think I subscribed already but its been a while...

Ladies I did a length check on April 28 and my longest layer has reached BSL....but my top and sides are now neck length (from lower ear length in Dec)....the bangs are now Chin Length....they were nose length in Dec.

But I am gonna hit a summer spurt myself and with the frizziness, 85-106 degree heat where I live and the travel plans I have (just got back from the Bahamas and I have been out of town 2 weekends in a row since then....sigh)......I threw this mop in long WL individual braids w/ extensions....Took 13 hours since my hair is longer and 120 bucks but my braider is the best (used 3 packs of kanekalon bulk hair at 1.99 each) and I am rocking these bad boys until the end of June or july if I can help it...

I plan on getting the front re-touched in a few weeks, and I plan to do a tea rinse tonight (experiment for shedding)....

Summer Regimen w/Braids:

Wash with Joico Kpax Shampoo mixed with a lil CON every 2 weeks...
Condish with Joico Kpax Condish mixed with VO5 condish......

I am going with Joico because its a mild protein and strengthens my hair with the braids in it.

I am going to experiment with this Black Tea Rinse because I learned it helps reduce shedding.....using Bigelow English Breakfast Tea tonight and again in 2-3 weeks.....
Even though I get a summer growth spurt I shed more in the summer...so I am hoping I have less shed hairs when i take these braids out....

This is me on the beach in Nassau a couple weeks ago with the braids....soooo lazy...I know...:yep:

My current regimen;

Wash every two weeks with Hello Hydration Shampoo and conditioner
Air dry with KBB Hair milk
Twist on dry hair with ORS lock and twist gel(staple since my bc)
Leave twist in 1-2 weeks
If I take my twist out after only 1 week I will wear a twistout for that week until my wash day.
I moisturize daily with a water based product that contains glycerin. Right now I'm using Sofnfree n'Pretty Olive Oil Detangler.

Well it's the middle of May. I guess I will get on trying to co-wash either every day or every other day.

Also, I need to get on my Iron pills. I get crazy growth :drunk: but retention's a ***** and that's just because of my Anemia.

I'm gonna stick with just deep conditioning once a week. I use ORS Hair Mayo, that works best for me. What are you ladies using?

Newly natural here....

Ladies who have had successfully shiny twist-outs, what cream/butter/oil combinations have given you the best twistout results? I can't seeem to find something that works to my liking. Please help!

i havent checked in in a while but im still loving my hair. i no longer twist or twist out because im lazy lol. so im back to co washing and w&g daily and i love that. im almost out of co wash conditioners so i will re up soon. right now all i have to co wash is yes to carrots which i hate, vo5 which is good but not natural like i prefer and HE.

i have realized that if i slather my hair in oil before i co wash i dont even need a comb to detangle. somehow i feel like i already knew that lmao.

im still using coconut oil and kbb hair milk daily. i also found a new love which is afroveda pur whipped gelly. i used it when i first went natural and it made my hair so crunchy but now my hair seems to love it.

Well, lately I have been conditioner washing every 3-4 days with suave coconut and using my S-curl mixed with Shescent it Coconut Leave In, Once a week, Once a week I use Shampoo, and then about every 8 weeks or so I do a Hard Aphogee Treatment. This works really good for my hair. Oh, and that wig is in the Trash!

I've been lurking in this thread since it started...I might as well post :look:. My regimen (for the summer) is just co-washing and braid-outs... I use whatever conditioner I can find laying around like Aussie Moist, HE LTR, AO HSR or whatever...then use either KC Knot Today or HE HH as a leave in along with coconut oil and seal the ends with shea butter.

Has anyone done braid-outs for awhile and gotten good growth? Or did you feel like you were manipulating your hair too much?? tia.

I am thinking of trying light blow drying for the summer and keeping my hair braided. My hair loves to be braided. I just don't like the look of braid outs on this length. I have been extra lazy with my co washed but it is getting doodoo hot here so I will start back or at least spritzing.

I'm still doing the chunky twist out thing and I LOVE it!! I've been experimenting with it to get different looks or adding accessories (flexi 8, banana clips, etc). I will wash or cowash with something ( MnT, Tresemme Naturals, Skala) then do a DC I've been doing a lot of balanced DCs (protein/moisture mixes) and then layer it with a thin leave in ( Shea Butter Rinse, Curls Milkshake, KBB hair milk/nectar) then a thicker leave in ( Curls souflee, whipped cream, BRBC) and seal with VF or a butter mix.

My Hair has been so soft and shiny. I pray it is growing and I'm retaining. SSKs are starting to rear their ugly heads. I'll do a Search & Destroy next wash day.

wow i'm so glad i came across your post!!! I've been looking into this line in particular but many naturals have suggested that it is not for 'kinky' hair and that it doesn't give enough moisture for 4a hair.....:perplexed:perplexed:perplexed your input would be much appreciated TIA:yep::yep:

Twistouts never look that great on me, but I tried a twist n curl this weekend. I knew it wouldn't be shiny (like kimmaytubes xD) because
a. i'm a 4b and
b. i dont have a hooded dryer

but I tried it just airdried on perm rods that were all different sizes because I rarely use them and lost some of them

It came out...alright. :perplexed I know my cellphone sucks and its hard to see but It's kind of decent. I used aloe vera gel on old twists and just curled them and unravelled the twists, and used Dove holding spray so it didn't frizz. I have a date tonight and while its not the most glam thing in the world, I suppose it will do. :look: I'm still going to bring my hairzing as backup. Twistouts have always failed me  and I don't trust their lasting ability

I just cowash, moisturize and twist with some kind of butter. I like a Shea and CO mix as well as an improvised Crisco butter.

I have found that it is an okay line. It has done a good job with keeping my hair moisturized and giving me a good twist out. I get it locally and pay about $1-2 less than the site. I don't use a lot of product (souffle, hair cream) when I do my hair so it is lasting a while. The milkshake for me is good but not worth the money for the size of the jar because I need to use quite a bit to feel that I truly got it through all my hair. I haven't used the conditioners so I can't speak on those. HTH

I am just a guest, I have no part to play, I just have to be there for a couple hrs, should I still take them down? :look: lol, I did ask the question, but dang I wanted to keep them longer, lol.

I see,. Um, for me the only thing that stops itchies in their tracks (other than co-washing) is MN. It gets rid of the itch/flakes. I know, sounds crazy.:look:

hola chicas!!!

coming out of the closet....i'm offically transitioning. i've said this once before and regret getting weak and going back to relaxers. however, now i'm ready and commited. i'm looking for some links to websites, blogs, and youtub accounts in relation to natural hair. i fell like a newbie all over again and have to educate myself in hair care. i'm really looking for some inspiration aka hair porn, lol.

any tips and suggestions would be appreciated. i'm not great with hair typing at all...my NG is wavy and some tight coils....any idea on what i might be. i really would like to check out some blogs of ladies with my same/similar hair type.

Hello everyone. I have to go back and read this thread all the way through. My regimen challenge was a fail of epic proportions. Also, I decided to join the jheri juice challenge, and that was a fail too. I like the benefits from using the juice (excellent at reducing breakage), but it does nothing in terms of keeping my ends from knotting. I also had a seriously bad build-up incident from the Jheri Juice that caused me to quit.

Also, I tried going back to Qhemet Biologics products. While I like QB, they are far too concentrated for my fine strands. After that I tried using straight shea butter (even though I've been known to have semi-allergic reactions to it-read: bad acne). I didn't break out, but I don't like how much I have to manipulate my hair. It ruins the little curl pattern I have, and gives me poodle hair. Still gives my hair the best definition after styling. However, it's too rich to use in my fine hair.

So, I went to Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In. Excellent moisturizer.

However...

I get small clumps in my hair, and when I rinse it out in the shower it makes my back itch.

I really can't win y'all. I've bee natural for almost three years, and I just can't win at the product game.

However....

I have completely defeated the manipulation game. :dance7:

I know exactly how to treat my hair in order to get it to retain length. I have figured out a great routine for myself. I basically just prepoo dc with oil (my favorite being EVOO-my only staple). Then I wash my hair in sections in the shower. After I wash a section, I condition it and then finger comb it. After I finger comb, then I use my denman brush. My hair is thriving off of this. No more manual breakage. Gets all the shed hair out which in turn reduces knots. I'm loving it.

The shampoo and condition I'm using now is the Rosemary mint line by Suave. It's okay. No invigoration, but it gets the job done. After I'm finished with them, I want to find a shampoo that actually invigorates my scalp. However, I have 32 oz. bottles. By the time I finish them off, I will most likely be at a point where I don't care and just pick up more Suave.

And just to add...the one good thing about the Jheri Juice build-up incident is that it made me realize I haven't really been cleaning my hair. My hair feels much better now that I'm using a stronger shampoo. I'm also no longer going to be using glycerin in my hair. I just need to find a good moisturizer. Probably back to the black earth spray.

Oh yeah, forgot to add...

I no longer put anything on my scalp-except for when I'm washing it with shampoo. I even consciously avoid putting conditioner on it. My hair feels much better, and I don't have to waste time oiling it. The sebum itself keeps my scalp and roots soft and smooth.
