Blow Dry Regimen???

I've found a pretty good routine that I use now that i don't plan on changing. Number one, it just doesn't happen without a denman. For a leave in/thermal protector I use aphogee pro vitamin; no shedding and no breakage. Then I usually use a creamier heavier blowdry cream on top to help with frizz and keep it moisturized. Next I flat iron.

Question: Does anyone sweat a lot in their heads while working out? That's been my biggest challenge when it comes to blow outs.

What brand name is this dryer? Is it tourmaline?

@MsAminta I plan on laying off the flat iron completely. I'm assuming a light blow dry will be okay especially with a heat protectant.

It's the CHI Hand Shot Ceramic Hair Dryer. It's pricey.:look:

@ Poohbear, do the teeth on the comb straighten your hair well? The teeth look short. I think Conair makes one like this. I was considering it.

yodie - yes, the teeth on the comb helps straighten out my hair. The teeth really aren't that short as they look in the picture. The key is to blowdry in small sections so you're not trying to run the teeth through a big section of hair. I have fine dense hair strands, so I have to be more careful when running the teeth through my hair.

I have the Conair Silver Bird. I use the comb attachment, but my hair is dry, and has been banded. I want the Sedu blowdryer. I think it is because I have their flatiron, which I love.

I have the Silver Bird too! I like it. Especially the concentrated nozzle.

i also think im adopting a regimen of heat use...especially with my mini twists. since i plan on washing them when i have them in (once a week) and want to keep them looking decent for weeks.

what i'll probably do is put my twists in sections and dry them under my hooded dryer to about 85% and then wrap my twists to stretch them more overnight.

i was just using my hooded dryer for my dc's, but im going to start using it to actually dry my hair.

hopefully my twists will last (look neat) for a long time this way.

I told that I would post pics of hair that I have blow dried. First, I pre-pooed yesterday. Then used WEN Pomagranate to wash, oil rinsed with grapeseed/rice bran oil, then DC with WEN 613 overnight. Then, using steam for twenty minutes (but I had this on all day, steamed last night). I used Paul Mitchel The Conditioner as a leave in, along with Roux 233 Treatment and shine. Put in one ponytail, then banded. I took that down and placed in a loose bun to run an errand.

And now I am ready to blow dry. Here is my hair before:

I sectioned from ear to ear, and sprayed that with Aphogee Green Tea Recontructor

First sectioned blow dried (yes my roots are slighty wavy):

Then divided from section into two, sprayed and combed out (both sections done the same):

After that section is blow dried:

Finished product:

I did add coconut oil to each section after blow drying. Then I placed in a pony, a bit more coconut oil, then baggied. And yes that is a baggie that my newspaper came in. Its the perfect size and length :yep: I put a scarf on, for my edges.

And there you go. Without additonal time for picture taking, this takes about 15 minutes from start to finish. The Aphogee to me, makes all the difference. It was made to use with heat. I ordered some CHI Keratin Mist. But if it doesn't give me the same effect, then back to the Green Tea.

Sorry for the novel :spinning:

Please come back and share how this works for you (and share pics if you like). I know I love pics!!!! LOL

Wow, your hair gets really straight with the blowdryer cutenss !

My hair doesn't like the blow dryer but I've been doing a monthly light flat iron this fall (around 300 degrees). The end result is in my siggie and my avi. I'm just terrible at styling it afterwards. And I also sweat in my head.

I'll be stalking this thread for more tips. :)

I plan to rock the stretched hair for 2 weeks at a time and then go to something that I can wet daily like mini braids or cornrows under wigs for 2-3 weeks. My hair likes to be watered and I sweat from dancing. I dunno what to do w/my hair when I dance to keep the roots straight. The ponytail didn't work for me.

cutenss Thank you for the "novel" and pics! Love it! I think I might need to try banding some time. I was lol at the newspaper baggy. It's a really good idea though. Does your hair start to revert at all with the baggy? I am really liking your blow dry regi! Especially the baggy with the coconut oil.

I'm going to be a blow dry natural. Currently sitting at 9 - 10 inches of hair and I'm tired of knots! Gotta perfect my blow dry technique though. I'll post my regimen when I wash next week.

I think the moisture from my pre-poo, DC, along with the Green Tea helps. The more moisture I put into my hair, the straighter the results. And your thick hair is :lick:

Thanks MsAminta No, my pony doesn't revert. My roots will revert, but I will sweat in my scalp. And the coconut oil does not weigh my hair down. Now I cannot flat iron with oils. My strands are too fine for that. This way my hair has some "texture". And this has also helped with SSK's tremendously :lick:

I do greenandchic. I attended a workshop on hair products (won't say which one) and the speaker suggested that I alter my workout schedule to meet the needs of my hair (as in ... don't go to the gym as much):ohwell:

How do you guys get your ends of your hair straight/taut if you use the tension method? Mine are always fuzzy.

Mine too. Once I combed through with the attachment and breakage city. If your hand is holding the ends taut, it's not getting the heat.

I have the purple Solia dryer + the Willie Morrow comb attachment. I have to keep my hair stretched now to control ssks, but I alternate between blow drying, bantu knots, and rollersets. I do a protein treatment with egg, shampoo, and DC prior to using any kind of heat.

I use the comb attachment, but only to help stretch the hair in locations. So I use it to pull it taut and I try to blow dry the ends FIRST to get it straight and then middle/root. I'm going to try to do it with my fingers, but this helps speed the process.

I never fully comb with the comb attachment, I ain't built for that disaster :nono::nono:

I just want the ends to not look like a puff ball once I'm done. SO frustrating. Like how do these women do it??
