Hey ladies, how does this sound

Are you peed off your hair didnt grow much this year?

How about we try and get that INCH more by Christmas day??

Then straighten our hair out on the day to show off to our family members???

Rules:

-no touchups until a few days before xmas (even if your VERY DUE!)
-no heat until xmas!
protective styles
-SCRITCHING! (whether with oil washing or regular washing, work those scalps!!! - scratch them, massage them...stim-u-late!)
-get on those vits (u better take them daily without fail if you want an inch more by xmas - no messing around...you've heard what really works, so take them!!!)
-REGULAR WASHING that means water has to touch your head at least every 3 days...whether this is by co-washing water only, oil rinsing ANYTHING, water has to hit that scalp 3x a week!
-FISH! and if you dont like fish, you better get some iodine and omegas into your body!!
-Get some indian herbs on that hair! I will teach you how to make black hair tea and other rinses (so dont worry about that part) all u gotta worry about is getting as many indian herbal hair powders and oils AS U CAN!

We havent got tooooo long, approximately 7 weeks!!!

soooo

That sounds good. Although, I don't know if I'll decide to braid in micros by then. I'm also on the protective style and no heat challenge but I might take a pass just to take a progress pic...gotta keep myself motivated. I'll at least cheer everyone on, even if I don't participate.

*crying*
I can't go any longer :nono: yesterday i washed and deep conditioned and and had matts every where it took me some hours with red palm and olive butter to get them all out.

and all the matting was do to shed hair twirling around my length

I wish I could hang a little longer

I only comb on wash day.
I co washed on last wednesday and oil rinsed but did not detangle
I was hoping no combing would not cause breakage

But i always only comb/detangle on wash day

yeh you HAVE to detangle before any water touches your head..

either with fingers

or comb

otherwise

snap, scrackle and pop

i've had a comb cement itself in my hair for hours beforegetting it out and losing truckloads of hair

NOT PRETTY

I'm waiting until I go home to Atlanta for Christmas and having Balisi do my hair if she's available. It's hard work keeping my NG soft, doing this 5 1/2 month relaxer stretch. I think I'mma just do condition washes more often and only use shampoo every two weeks or so. For the wedding that I'm in, I may get an instant weave or wig and wear that. For Thanksgiving at my father's, I may just wear my head in a nice bun. I already do everything that the challenge calls for:

1. Protective Styles
2. Vitamins/supplements
3. Water
4. Exercise 5 or 6 days a week
5. Diet: I love fish and eat it daily; also eggs and my Ultra Plus Thick Hair Shake
6. No heat! It's hard because my shrinkage has me very discouraged. It looks as if my hair is only shoulder length, which I know is not true.

Now all you have to do, Candy, is show us about this black tea rinse. I have black tea bags; I don't have the loose tea.

;)

oooh its nothing to do with tea! its a special hair tea

recipe as follows....

You need:

amla powder
shikakai powder
-distilled water
-hot water
-spoons
-egg
-olive oil
-avocado fruit
-a plastic container
-bowl

-15minutes

------

First stage:

Mash up the flesh of your avocado in a fresh bowl.
add 3 tablespoons of olive oil
add your egg
add your water (half a cup)
mix and blend

Second stage:

empty one tablespoon of shikakhai powder and two tablespoons of amla powder into your contain
add 1/4 cup of HOT water
mix and blend

third stage:

pour the content of the bowl (avocado) into the container with the powder mixture in.
close the lid of the container]
shake vigorously

fourth stage:

add 1/4 cold water to the mixture
use any oil to saturate your hair (shikakhai oil is best) and esp your scalp and scratch for 10 mins
-detangle
-go into the shower, let the warm water rinse your hair
-pour the black tea over your head
-rinse straight away under the warm water
-proceed to condition with any deep con
-rinse out with cold water when ready

fifth stage:

not only can these ayurvedic products and massages encourage growth, your hair will be so strong and moisturized after this, that you will find you will have no need for the protein conditioners or treatments anymore..

I know the black hair tea dont look nice, but if you ask me, the smellier and uglier hair products seem to be fantastic!

This will help stop:

-breakage
-dry hair
-discoloured hair
-shedding

Got everything 'cept for the avocado. Now questions:

1. What properties should the avocado have? How ripe? Soft?
2. How often should this treatment be done?
3. My hair hates protein. Is there a way to tweak this treatment so as not to make it too protein-rich?

Thanks!

SP

Ladies, where can I get the shikaki powder and the amla powder. A lot of the ingredients listed are foreign to me.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

my hair hates protein too!!

which is why i choose to use only one tablespoon of shikakhai...

if you feel this is too strengthening, use less avocado, less shihkakai and more amla and water :)

use around once per week, because if your an oil washer you will have a bit of buildup thats needs to be removed...this treatment helps moistuize and cleanse deeply.

use a ripe avocado, a hass preferabley...this is easier to mash up

Candy, what do you mean by scritching? I thought you weren't supposed to scratch the scalp? I remember reading somewhere that scratching the scalp causes irritation and can damage hair follicles.

But, on the other hand, count me in on the challenge!!

warning, if you have highlights, light hair and want to keep it that way DONT USE THE BLACK HAIR TEA....this treat will darken your hair

hey

if anything i've experienced the complete opposite

my mild scalp psoriarsis has vanished! i havent had a flake for weeks

the folk over of longhaircommunity have been jabbering on about scritching for years, i never took much notice

but it REALLY DOES WORK

i dont think it will damage your scalp at all, aslong as you stay withing that time frame, dont go overboard and dont do anything that causes you pain.

see it as itching your arm...for example.

also if you find time, book youself to have an indian head massage...

they are the besssstt!!!! you come out vibrating from head to toe

they really DIG in though!

I am already doing most of this...I think I can join...I am about 14 weeks post so this will be an interesting little experiment:drunk:
  • I never use heat
  • I exercise every single day
  • I eat fish at least 5 times per week
  • I take liquid vitamins in the evening (When I took them in the morning I would get really tired) Multi, Glucosamine & MSM, & Iron
  • I massage my scalp daily with emu oil and peppermint and rosemary essential oils
  • I always protective style
  • I drink plenty of water
  • I drink green smoothies with carrots daily!
As far as Indian herbs...I have a bunch of Vatika Oil that I can use in my deep conditioners:look: I need to wash/condition my hair more often so I will work on this until Christmas Time:yep:

trimbride! You have an excellent regime/health programme

I'm in! I went out and bought some more vits today because I was thinking I had to step up my hair game to get and retain more inches. I wouldn't mind another inch and a half by Christmas. I got some serious hair goals and I need some serious length and thickness.

I'm in! I was going to do this on my own but more ladies equals more progress! I need stability to keep me motivated! Let's Grow people I want at least 2 more inches by christmas..that's the goal.

Count me in... I am trying to reach APL by Jan 25th so this extra inch by Christmas will help..I may even keep going to 1/25/08 (my college grad date!)

I am using MN and BB growth serum... are topical growth ads ok???:ohwell:
