Weaves for Fine & Thin Hair

I live in NYC, and for the folks that live here you know it's been HUMID HELL. I've been considering a sew-in, so I can add some volume, and a little length. The other day I looked like Sho Nuff from the last Dragon, because I had these puffy roots, and limped frizzed end, twas not a pretty sight.

I've never had weaves or braids before, so I was wondering if it's okay for fine, thin hair. I'm just worried that I might experience a lot of breakage. Any advice?

I have fine and thin hair and I just removed a weave that I had for 7 weeks with very little shedding. The key for me was to leave my edges out and to moisturise every 2 days. I am on the weave challenge so I will be leaving my hair out for 2 weeks, relaxing and then after 2 more weeks I will put in another weave. I will be doing this until December
