To braid or to relax?

This question isnt about me actually. A friend of mine has been
trying to strech her relaxer and her last relaxer was in the middle
of january I think... Thing is, before that she relaxed too often so
I think it weakened her hair. I dont know if there is such a thing
as over moisture but her hair that is already fine feels too soft
and has been breaking like crazy. She has this kinda huge spot in
the back where all her relaxed ends broke off and it's only new
growth. So my question is what should she do? And she also trying to
decide whether to relax or braid. I would say braid to give her hair
some rest but your advices and inputs are more than welcomed...

Overmoisturized hair needs protein to strengthen it. Has she been using protein conditioners as a part of her regimen? I wouldn't braid or relax right now. How is she wearing her hair currently? Maybe a protective style will help get her hair back into condition.

She had not used any protein conditioners until yesterday when I advised her to use one. She has short hair, wouldnt know how long in inches but it is quite short. So I dont know what she could do in terms of protective styling...

I agree w/ cornrows (not too tight) or maybe a sewn in weave. Make sure you direct her to some of the braid and weave maintenance sites on here. HTH

ok Ladies, thanks so much for your input. She was thinking about individuals but I do think cornrows would be better. Chanteuse, what web sites are u talking about and where on the board can I find links to those web sites? TIA
Any other input welcomed :)
