Time of the End

Some things need to be discussed and its time, because time as we know it will soon end.

Predators and Victims

The degradation of society reveals an especially ugly blotch on the lives of children who have been victims of often unspeakable forms of abuse.

A mother is being sentenced this week for beating her two-year-old and gluing the child’s hands to a wall for potty training problems. [1]
The sentencing of retired college football coach Jerry Sandusky, who in a recently released tape from jail claims to be innocent [2], reminds us of the prevalence of child abuse, having been found guilty of 45 of 48 charges of sexual abuse over a 15-year period.
Wikipedia defines child abuse as:

“The physical, sexual or emotional mistreatment or neglect of a child or children. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Department for Children And Families (DCF) define child maltreatment as any act or series of acts of commission or omission by a parent or other caregiver that results in harm, potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child. Child abuse can occur in a child's home, or in the organizations, schools or communities the child interacts with. There are four major categories of child abuse: neglect, physical abuse, psychological or emotional abuse, and sexual abuse.” [3]

How prevalent is child abuse in the U.S.? The American National Committee to Prevent Child Abuse provides statistics on different forms of abuse. The 1997 records show neglect represented 54 percent of confirmed cases of child abuse, 22 percent for physical abuse, 8 percent for sexual abuse, 4 percent for emotional maltreatment, and 12 percent for other forms of maltreatment. During a one-year period (2005-2006) researchers in the U.S. found 91,000 cases of neglect [CDC Report].

While we might quickly picture children with bruises or broken bones, or babies being shaken, the emotional trauma and psychological effects create developmental problems and attachment disorders that can last a lifetime. Even children witnessing domestic violence can struggle with depression, anxiety, and greater illness. The damage to society when children are abused is multi-generational. People who abuse children leave a trail of broken lives behind them.

How long will God withhold judgment against a world in which children are abused? The increase in the number of innocent victims we read about in the news, not just in society at large but even within our churches, make one shudder at the thought of a final judgment against the evils of this world. But it is this judgment that will bring the end of it once and for all.

Do the signs of the times cause you to long for Jesus to come? Have you ever wondered why God permits evil to go on and when it will all end? The Bible speaks of a day coming when Satan will no longer destroy people’s lives through abuse. You can learn about these topics in upcoming seminars listed on this website.

“Even so, come Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).

Cold Realities

Ice in the Arctic sea has melted away at a record level this fall since scientists began tracking data back in 1979. The dramatic change appears to indicate that global warming is impacting our planet and will have long-term effects that will potentially create even more extreme weather on earth.

“It's worsening. In the U.S. July was the hottest month ever recorded and this year is on track to be the nation's warmest. Climate scientists say it's a combination of natural drought and man-made global warming. Each decade since the 1970s has been nearly one-third of a degree warmer than the previous one.

Sea levels are rising while Arctic sea ice was at a record low in September. U.S. public health officials are partially blaming unusually hot and dry weather for an outbreak of the deadly West Nile virus that is on pace to be the worst ever. Scientists blame global warming for more frequent weather disasters, with the World Health Organization saying: "Climatic changes already are estimated to cause over 150,000 deaths annually." [1]

The Arctic is a potent weather-maker for the temperate zone, and is sometimes dubbed Earth's air conditioner for its cooling effects. However, as ice wanes and temperatures rise in the far north, the Arctic could add more heat and moisture to the climate system. "What happens in the Arctic doesn't stay in the Arctic," said Dan Lashof, a climate scientist at the nonprofit Natural Resources Defense Council. "This has a real impact on Americans where they live and work." Melting Arctic ice changes the shape and position of the jetstream, allowing tropical air to penetrate further north and Arctic air to penetrate further south, Lashof said in a telephone interview, leading to more extreme weather. [2]

Whether you believe that global warming is caused by human activity or not, it's a fact that Jesus pointed to changing weather and extreme climate conditions coming to our planet as we near His return. The signs of the times are not limited to the decaying moral conditions of society. Drought, famine, pestilences, and earthquakes are all indicators in the natural world that our world is falling apart. Even the sun, moon, and stars will tell us times are changing (see Luke 21:25). The growing numbers of signs in the physical world tell us that our world will soon end.

Christians do not need to live in fear. People who carefully study Bible prophecy know that before the end arrives and Jesus takes those who choose life to heaven that perilous times will come. What will it take to be ready? How can a person live in peace above the storms all around us? You do not need to ponder the statements of scientists or meteorologists to prepare for the end of all things as we know them. Amazing Facts provides prophecy seminars across North America by skilled Bible teachers who clearly walk you through what the Scriptures say about Christ’s soon coming. We strongly encourage you to attend one of these events listed on this website!

Some people hover over weather reports and are very concerned about how things are changing on our planet. But we should not neglect to look at the weather reports in Scripture. Jesus promises to end all devastating natural disasters and make our world new again. Are you ready for that type of global change?

By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

TALISAY, Philippines (AP) — More than 800 tons of fish have died and rotted on fish farms in a lake near Taal volcano south of Manila, with authorities blaming it on a sudden temperature drop.

Ogeechee River: Something fishy
Posted: May 28, 2011 - 6:50pm

SOMETHING FISHY happened over the past two weeks in the Ogeechee River. State environmental officials must get to the bottom of it.

The state Environmental Protection Division announced Thursday that a bacterial disease is the direct cause of a large fish kill that reportedly has left thousands of fish dead since at least Friday, May 20, and prompted a ban on public swimming two days later.

Losing so many fish — redbreast, blue gill, black crappie, catfish — is heartbreaking. The black water in the lower stretches of the Ogeechee is favored by anglers, and this loss may put a dent in future catches.

Fortunately, the ban on swimming lasted just six days and was lifted right before the three-day Memorial Day weekend, a time when many area residents are out on the water.

But more troubling for now is the lack of information about what triggered the deaths.

State environmental officials report that the bacteria that killed the fish, Columnaris, is only a threat when fish are under stress, such as the lack of dissolved oxygen in the water. But the EPD has not pinpointed the cause of this stress.

In fact, Tim Barrett, a state Department of Natural Resources fisheries supervisor based in Richmond Hill, said last Monday that conditions on the Ogeechee didn’t seem ripe for a natural dip in oxygen that can kill fish. “It’s really hot, and there are low flows, but we haven’t found any low dissolved oxygen readings today.”

The kill zone ranged from Screven County to Chatham County — a distance of roughly
50 miles.

Officials said the dead fish were first reported downstream from King America Finishing Inc., a large textile factory that applies fire retardants and water-resistant coatings to fabric. It’s the only large industrial facility with significant discharges into the Ogeechee.

But representatives from EPD and the federal Environmental Protection Agency checked out the plant Monday and apparently found nothing amiss. Hence, there must be something else, such as nonpoint-source pollution (pollution that doesn’t come from a single source).

Whatever it is, the EPD must find it. Identifying the culprit and then doing something about it is the only way to prevent similar fish kills and river closures from happening again.

Meanwhile, the EPD has another job to do: Examine its own response.

State officials checked out the dead fish May 20. But the EPD didn’t issue warnings about eating the fish or swimming in the Ogeechee until May 22. And it wasn’t until May 23 that someone with the Effingham Emergency Management Agency put up warning signs at the Steel Bridge boat landing at the Effingham-Bulloch county line.

At the very least, the time lapse is troubling.

Dianna Wedincamp, who’s with the nonprofit Ogeechee Riverkeeper organization, said the it needlessly exposed people to potential danger. “There were kids in the river,” she said. “People were having fish fries from the fish they were catching.”

F. Allen Barnes, Georgia’s EPD director, owes it to citizens in this part of Georgia to explain the warning process. If the public was at risk because of poor communications, he should vow to fix it so it never happens again. If there was no risk, he should let the public know that, too.

Dead fish aren’t symptoms of a healthy Ogeechee. Georgians who fish, boat and float on this lovely river as it unwinds itself to the sea want to know more, and they expect the EPD and EPA to protect them.

Dead sucker fish found at Teal Lake

NEGAUNEE -- Sucker fish occur naturally in many of the U.P.'s inland lakes, like at Teal Lake in Negaunee, which has an abundant population.

The fish can normally be found in shallow water, like by the shore. That's because they're bottom feeding animals. They're infamous for eating all the nutrients from the lake, diminishing the sport fish population, and now, they're dying.

But one U.P. fisherman we spoke with says having them dead isn't much better than having them alive.

"It's just kind of unattractive to keep fish in there. You see dead fish in there and you wonder what kind of disease would cause that or how it affects other fish," says Michael Leach.

Michael might be glad to hear that it's not a disease--it's their tendency towards the bottoms of lakes that's causing them to die.

"It's a very stressful time for them, as they're depositing their eggs, they rough themselves up on the gravel on the shoals, and when we have temperature changes at night and hot days, they undergo a lot of stress," says George Madison of the DNR.

In the past, the D.N.R. has netted the suckers to regulate the population. This year, they have a different solution.

"Instead what we're going to do is stick Great Lakes muskies in there, a low level of muskies, and we'll let this predator fish utilize the suckers as a forage base and add to the sport fishery experience there," Madison says.

DNR officials have been out to the lake to investigate the problem, and they say it's nothing out of the ordinary. We went out Wednesday to check out the beach, and all the dead fish we saw a few days ago were gone.

"The natural processes will take place. The fish will sink to the bottom of the lake, the crayfish and insects will eat them; if there's one on the shore, sea gulls and things like that will eat them. They'll disappear quite quickly," Madison explains.

This is welcome news for fishermen and Teal Lake beachgoers alike.

There is just not enough room to post all of the dead that has happen over the last two years.

The Bible declares that in the last days there will be a proliferation of war and strife. Nations will be unable to reach lasting peaceable agreements with one another leading to outbreaks of war and vast bloodshed.

The Midwestern United States has been hit with the worst drought in 56 years. The forecast by the International Grains Council is cutting the expected 2012 corn harvest by 25 million tons. Hurricane Isaac brought welcome relief, but a little too late. July was the hottest month on record for this region ever since records were kept. Thousands of livestock have been lost.

“The relief from last week's rain may help planting conditions for winter wheat, but it's come too late to make much difference to summer crops. And it didn't even reach Iowa and Nebraska; 71% of Nebraska is now in "exceptional drought," the highest level on the scale. On Thursday, the Federal Reserve of St. Louis reported that drought had ravaged farmers' income expectations in seven states, including Illinois and Missouri.

“The farmers and ranchers of the American heartland are not alone. According to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the land surface temperature in the Northern Hemisphere was the warmest ever in July, 2.14 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the average. From Ukraine to Yellowstone, in Pakistan and Kazakhstan, the skies have stayed clear, and the earth has been parched. And on the world's commodity exchanges, the prices of corn, soybeans, wheat and tea are surging. The World Bank's food price index rose 10% in July.” [1]

Rainfall in most places in the world have been below average. While 2010 and 2011 were certainly “wet” years, rainfall is becoming less reliable. Records over the last 100 years show that “peaks and troughs in rainfall, particularly north of the equator, have become sharper and bigger. It’s either deluge or drought.” [Ibid.] Colin Chartres, who is the head of the International Water Management Institute says we can expect more extreme weather. Even the rapidly melting polar ice caps show grave concern. Some scientists believe the North Pole could be ice-free in the summer within a decade. Ice moderates temperatures in the North Hemisphere and without it more of the sun’s rays are absorbed in to the ocean which increases global temperatures.

The Bible predicts that “there will be famines … in various places” (Matthew 24:7) before Christ comes. Famines caused by drought were not uncommon in Bible times. Sometimes they came as judgments of God (see 2 Samuel 21:1). But Jesus makes a clear statement about famines in the last days (see also Mark 13:8 and Luke 21:11). The frequency and intensity of natural disasters points to a world that is getting ripe for the Lord’s soon return. As mankind increasingly turns away from God, as violence increases and wars abound, as people’s hearts become dry and hard … there will be famines.

But not all famines are found in nature and measured by meteorologists. Prophets predicted there will be a famine for the Word of God. “‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord God, ‘That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the LORD’” (Amos 8:11).

Are you hungry to know what the Bible says about the last days? How does one prepare for the time of the end? As our world teeters toward destruction, where can a person find security in these troubled times? What does the Bible say about Christ’s coming? Are we truly getting closer to Jesus’ return? You can find answers in the Bible.

PERSECUTION

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

Christian Persecution: 6 Quick Takes from Around the World
February 8, 2013 By Rebecca Hamilton 6 Comments

Agape Girgis, 13, abducted by radical Islamists.
Violent persecutors of Christians appear to be cowards as well as bigots. How else to interpret their propensity for preying on Christian clergy, women and children?
They especially seem to like abducting little girls.
There is a method to this evil. After all, if you destroy the young girls, you in effect doom your opponent to die out and die off. Mothers everywhere are the heart of any home and family. Homes and families are the primary means of transmitting values and culture from one generation to the next. Given those two facts, these cowardly, totally unmanly attacks on women and little girls take on the shape and form of what they really are: A means of slow and deliberate genocide.
Christians are being attacked with what appears to be genocidal intent in a good part of the world today. They are being oppressed and imprisoned by legal discrimination in other areas. In much of the rest of the world, Christians are increasingly subjected to a barrage of mockery, hate speech and unceasing attempts to limit their sphere of influence.
I write these articles in an attempt to increase Christian awareness of what’s happening. We’ve been like the frog in the pan of water on the burner, unaware that the water is heating up and will eventually boil us to death.
Christians need to wake up.
Here are 6 quick takes on Christian persecution from around the world.
1
Egypt, 15 years in prison for mother and seven children, converts to Christianity
The case concerns Nadia Mohamed Ali, a mother of eight children, born Christian, but converted to Islam to marry her husband. After his death, she decides to return to her original religion with her children. The authorities accuse her of having changed names on documents to skip procedure.

Cairo (AsiaNews / Agencies) – The criminal court of Beni Suef (115 km south of Cairo) has sentenced an entire family to prison for converting to Christianity. Nadia Mohamed Ali and her children Mohab, Maged, Sherif, Amira, Amir, and Nancy Ahmed Mohamed abdel-Wahab will spend 15 years in prison. Seven other people involved in the case were sentenced to five years in prison. (Read the Asia News article here.)

2
Lao Police Arrest Christian Pastors for Spreading Christian Religion
The Phin district police of Savannakhet province of Laos arrested and detained three Christian pastors for disseminating Christian religion. The incident took place approximately 5:00 p.m. on February 5, 2013, when three Christian pastors took a copy of a movie CD about the End Times to a local shop for making copies.
Police Lieutenant Khamvee accompanied by his two deputies stormed the shop and arrested the three pastors. The shop owner was also taken to the police station for further questioning but he was later released. However, the three pastors are being detained arbitrarily in the Phin district prison. OVER 500 CHRISTIAN GIRLS KIDNAPPED BY MUSLIMS IN EGYPT SINCE REVOLUTION
Over 500 Christian girls have been abducted in Egypt since the revolution of January 2011; they are taken by Salafists who forcibly convert them to Islam and marry them to Muslim men against their will.

The number of cases has been documented by the non-governmental Christian organisation Association of Victims of Abduction and Enforced Disappearance (AVAED), which says that Salafist sheiks are behind nearly all of the abductions and the interior ministry colludes with them. (Read the rest of the Barnabas Fund article here.)

Christians are ‘Butchered Like Animals’ in Northern Nigeria
Christians are targeted and “butchered like animals” nearly every day in northern Nigerian cities, with little alarm sounded by the international community, according to a Voice Of the Martyrs worker. Christians are targeted in their homes, at their businesses, on farms, while traveling on highways and even in their churches.
“These Christians are imprisoned—though there may not be physical walls barricading them—but they are confined to one fate which is death by bombing, bullet, fire, cutlasses, machetes and economic hardship,” the VOM worker said. “Christians are not allowed to go to markets or farms, all for the sake of their faith in Christ Jesus.
“These Christians live as if every day were their last. Someone told me in one of the cities, ‘We are just but walking corpses on the street, waiting for our burial days.’ And although seen as second-class citizens, these Christians [in northern Nigeria] remain strong in their faith, and only wish to advance the gospel.” (Read the rest of the Charisma News article here. )

4
India: Kashmir Mob Tries to Lynch 12 Christian Tourists
Srinagar (AsiaNews) – On the basis of false allegations of forced conversions, more and more Christians in Kashmir are victims of persecution. This according to Sajan George, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), after the attempted assault on a group of 12 foreign tourists, accused via Facebook of practicing forced conversions in Tangmarg area north of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred late in the evening of 2 February.
Around 10 pm a crowd of people gathered in front of a hotel in Srinagar, the capital, throwing stones against the walls and asking for the immediate trial of foreigners, eight Americans and four Koreans. Intervening on the spot, the police searched luggage and documents of the tourists. On finding nothing, the officers dispersed the protesters. When checking their passports, the police reported that the group has also visited other Muslim countries, including Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
The violent reaction was triggered by a photo published on the Facebook page Gulmarg News. The image shows three oriental girls, while the caption warns, “Caution Kashmir! Islam in Kashmir is under attack, Christians trying to convert Muslims,” recounting the testimony of a boy, who in exchange for chocolate would have been forced to recant Islam and convert to Christianity. (Read the rest of the AsiaNews story here.)

5
19 Christian Children Rescued from Radical Islamist Trafficker
International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that 19 children, who were to be sold to fundamentalist Islamic boarding schools (madrassas), have been rescued.
Traffickers lied to the children’s parents, saying they would take the children to Christian boarding schools in Dhaka, Bangladesh, when in fact they were intending to sell the children to various madrassas. Students from Dhaka University discovered the children and rescued them. This is not the first instance of Christian children being trafficked to madrassas, as upwards of 150 children have been rescued from similar situations since July. Egypt: Christian Girl, 13, Abducted by Muslims
(AINA) — On December 23, 2012, 13-year-old Agape Essam Girgis from the village of Nahda, el-Ameriya, near Alexandria, went to school as usual. Failing to return home, the family knew that she went out of school accompanied by the Muslim social worker Heba and two teachers, one of the them a Salafist. She stayed missing for 9 days.

On December 31 state security contacted Bishop Pachomios and told him that they have the kidnapped girl. She was handed over to her family and the church priest where she stayed with his family for some time due to the terrible ordeal she experienced during her abduction.
Activist Ramy Attia Zakaria, of the April 6 Liberal Movement in Alexandria, interviewed Agape upon her return and said it is now confirmed that her Muslim social worker Heba was behind the abduction. “Agape left school with her and two teachers. The girl was drugged in the car to wake up in a secluded house with two sheikhs and an elderly woman,” Ramy said.
Agape said that during her stay with the Salafis sheikhs they tried to make her convert to Islam by saying the “Islamic Two Faith Confessions” but she refused. They forced her to wear the full veil and took photos of her in this dress. Agape said that she was beaten two or three times when she refused to convert to Islam.
After her release she was taken to el-Ameriya police station where she was told to say that “she has left home and went to el-Ameriya, where she found a sheikh and she told him that she wants to convert to Islam,” continued Ramy. When her family received her from the police station, her father, who works as a tailor, said they do not wish to accuse anyone in this case as he was pleased to get his daughter back. “Besides I have a younger daughter and I fear for her safety” said her father. Agape’s father and their church priest decided that she will not go back to school. Activist Ramy said that most of the Coptic inhabitants of Alexandria are refusing to send daughters older than 9 to school. He accused the Salafist Sheikh Sherif el-Hawary in el-Ameriya of being behind all abductions of Coptic girls in Alexandria and surrounding areas.
“From the beginning of the Egyptian Revolution on January 25, 2011 until January 26, 2013, over 500 girls have been abducted,” says Ebram Louis, founder of the Coptic non-governmental organization Association of Victims of Abduction and Enforced Disappearance (AVAED), which handles cases of abducted Coptic minors. Louis blamed the interior ministry for all the disappearances of Coptic minors, saying the ministry colludes with the Muslims. “There is hardly a day which passes by without a Coptic girl disappearing.” (Read the rest of this Assyrian International News Agency story here.)

PESTILENCE AND DISEASE
... and there shall be famines, and pestilences ...
(Matthew 24:7)

We hear now of earthquakes in divers places, of fires, of tempests, of disasters by sea and land, of pestilence, of famine. What weight do these signs have upon you? This is only the beginning of what shall be. The description of the day of God is given through John by the Revelator. The cry of the terror-stricken myriads has fallen upon the ear of John. "The great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" The apostle himself was awed and overwhelmed.

here is a sample of one of the studies.

The vast kingdom of Babylon was opulent and
prosperous, yet Nebuchadnezzar the king stirred in his royal bed.
How long would this golden era last, he wondered, and what
would become of his powerful empire when he was gone?
With these disturbing questions in mind, the mighty
monarch drifted off to sleep. That night, a vivid image of a
towering multi-mineral man flashed into his mind with a
panorama of color unlike anything he had ever experienced.
Throwing aside his embroidered covers, the king jumped out of bed and shouted
to his bodyguards: “Call all the magicians and astrologers to come at once. I must
know the meaning of this dream!” The king’s wise men were roused
and herded into the presence of the bewildered sovereign. “And the king said
unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the
dream.” Daniel 2:3. One of the phony prophets smugly responded, “Tell your
servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation.” But as often happens with
dreams, the details had already grown cloudy in Nebuchadnezzar’s mind. These
men had claimed divine insight, but the king was beginning to doubt their
abilities. This would be the perfect test. “Tell me the dream and
the interpretation, and you will be rewarded,” the king told his
counselors, “otherwise I will cut you in pieces and turn your
homes into dumps!”

The magicians and astrologers had no choice but to admit
that they were powerless to explain the king’s dream without
first hearing it. Furious with these imposters, the king
commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be gathered for
execution. However, the Lord still had one person in Babylon
who could explain the dream of the colossal Millennial Man.The Study
Fill in the blanks after reading each Bible text.

1. Why did God give the Babylonian king this dream?
Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth
_______________, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what
shall be in the _______________ days.

NOTE: In this dream of the multi-mineral image, God outlined for all future
millenniums the rise and fall of the empires that would have a direct influence on
His people.
2. When the king’s counselors failed to reveal and interpret
the dream, what was Nebuchadnezzar’s command?
Daniel 2:12 The king ... commanded to _______________ all the wise
men of Babylon.
NOTE: The astrologers and magicians of Babylon claimed to have supernatural
power, but when they could not reveal the dream to the king, they were shown to
be impotent imposters. If the king had recalled the dream, they would have simply
manufactured a bogus interpretation. In his rage, Nebuchadnezzar commanded all
the wise men to be slain—even those who were not present. Among those absent
from the first meeting with the king was a God-fearing captive named Daniel,
who had just been trained for the king’s service.
3. When Daniel learned about the death decree, what did
he ask of the king and what did he tell his friends?
A. Daniel 2:16 Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give
him_______________, and that he would shew the king the
_______________.
B. Daniel 2:17, 18 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing
_______________ to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:
That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this
_______________.
NOTE: Daniel requested a little time from Nebuchadnezzar and promised that he
would reveal the dream and its meaning. The king, who was still desperate to
know the significance of his vision, granted Daniel’s request. Then he and his
friends appealed to the only Source who could reveal the king’s dream. They
prayed to the God of heaven.
4. When the Lord revealed the dream to Daniel, to whom
did he give praise and credit?
Daniel 2:23, 28 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou
_______________ of my fathers. ... There is a _______________ in
heaven that _______________ secrets.
NOTE: The rise and fall of empires may appear as if happening by the will of
men, but Daniel’s prayer of praise clearly reveals the essence of divine
intervention. Nothing happens that God is not already aware of and has not
allowed. Sometimes we may not understand what is happening in our world
today or why, but it is comforting to know that God is still sovereign. Only
Daniel could reveal the dream to the king, yet he clearly gives the credit to the
One who revealed the dream to him—the God of heaven.
5. What two objects did Daniel say the king saw in his
dream?
A. Daniel 2:31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold, a
_______________ _______________ .
B. Daniel 2:34 Thou sawest ... that a _______________ was cut out
without hands.
NOTE: The first thing the king saw was a great image made of the following
mineral elements:
1. The head was of gold.
2. The breast and arms were of silver.
3. The belly and thighs were of brass.
4. The legs were of iron.
5. The feet of iron and clay.
Next, the king saw a stone that had been cut without hands. At this point, King
Nebuchadnezzar was no doubt sitting spellbound on the edge of his throne.
Daniel had related the dream precisely as God had given it to him. Now the
king eagerly waited, wondering what the dream meant. Daniel proceeded to
explain the interpretation as the Lord had revealed it to him, and we would do
well to take it just as He gave it. The only safe way to interpret the Bible and
prophecy is to allow the Bible to explain itself.
6. What does the head of gold represent?
Daniel 2:38 Thou art this _______________ of gold.
NOTE: The king was regarded as the head of the state. This is why
Nebuchadnezzar represented Babylon, the empire that began the prophecy.
Neo-Babylon ruled the world from 612-539 B.C. as one of the mightiest
empires of antiquity—one that could aptly be described as the head of gold.
Notice that the prophecy begins with Daniel’s time.
7. Would the Babylonian kingdom last forever?
Daniel 2:39 After thee shall arise _______________ kingdom inferior
to thee.
NOTE: Babylon’s supremacy would not last forever. Succeeding kingdoms,
inferior to Babylon, would rule in their turn. Just as silver is inferior to gold, so
the kingdom that followed Babylon enjoyed diminished glory. Led by Cyrus in
539 B.C., the Medo-Persian empire conquered Babylon and reduced it to ruins.
The Medes and Persians were the ruling world power from 539-331 B.C.
During their reign, all taxes had to be paid in silver.

8. What metal would represent the kingdom that followed Medo-Persia?

Daniel 2:39 Another third kingdom of _______________ ... shall bear
rule over all the earth.

NOTE: The brass kingdom of Greece came into power when Alexander the
Great conquered the Medes and Persians at the battle of Arbela in 331 B.C.,
and Greece remained in power until about 168 B.C. Greek soldiers were called
“brazen coated” because their armor was all bronze. Notice how each succeeding
mineral depicted in the image is less valuable, yet more enduring than the one
before it.

9. What metal represents the fourth kingdom?

Daniel 2:40 The fourth kingdom shall be strong as_______________.
NOTE: The iron monarchy of Rome conquered the Greeks in 168 B.C. and
enjoyed world supremacy until Rome was captured by the Ostrogoths in A.D.
476. Rome is the kingdom that dominated the world when Jesus Christ was
born. Notice how Daniel foretold a thousand years of world history with
unerring accuracy. The rise and fall of these four world empires—Babylon,
Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome—are clearly foretold in the Bible and proved
by the history books.

10. What would happen after the fall of the Roman
Empire?
Daniel 2:41, 42 The kingdom shall be _______________. ... As the
toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be
partly strong, and partly broken.
NOTE: When the Roman Empire began to crumble in A.D. 476, it was not
overtaken by another world power. Instead, barbarian tribes conquered the
Roman Empire and divided it—just as Daniel prophesied. Ten of these tribes
evolved into modern Europe. They were the Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Franks,
Vandals, Alemannians, Sueves, Anglo-Saxons, Heruls, Lombards, and
Burgundians. Seven of them still exist today in Europe. For example, the AngloSaxons became the English, the Franks became the French, the Alemannians
became the Germans, and the Lombards became the Italians.

11. Would these 10 kingdoms ever succeed in uniting?
Daniel 2:43 They shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they
shall _______________ _______________ one to another, even as
iron is not mixed with clay.

NOTE: Through marriage, alliances, and treaties, men have vainly attempted to
reunite the European continent. All throughout history, leaders such as
Charlemagne, Napoleon, Kaiser Wilhelm, Mussolini, and Hitler have fought to
build a new European empire; but these words of Scripture have stopped every
single would-be world ruler. Revelation 13 tells us there will be another attempt
to establish a universal religion, but Daniel’s prophecy clearly states that the
world will remain politically divided for the rest of Earth’s history

12. Who will set up the final kingdom?

Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the _______________
of _______________ set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed.

NOTE: The next great universal kingdom will be the kingdom of heaven, which
is described in Matthew 25:31-34.

13. What does the stone do to the other world kingdoms?
Daniel 2:34, 35 A stone was cut out without hands, which
_______________ the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and
_______________ them to pieces. ... And the stone that smote the image
became a great _______________, and filled the whole earth.

NOTE: The stone that was cut without human hands represents God’s kingdom.
It will not be a conglomeration of earthly kingdoms, but a total replacement
(Revelation 21:1). The Scriptures declare that when Jesus Christ returns to earth,
He will completely consume all the kingdoms of earth and establish an everlasting
kingdom (Daniel 2:44). What exciting news! Jesus Christ is coming again! All
history is moving toward this climactic conclusion, when the Son of God shall
return in majesty to bring in the kingdom of everlasting righteousness. King
Nebuchadnezzar may have thought that he had defeated the true God when he
besieged Jerusalem and plundered the temple (Daniel 1:1, 2), but he was shown
very quickly that God is ruler over all. Human events are under His control, and
ultimately He will win the conflict. Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, and the
10 divisions of the Roman Empire may have sought to usurp divine authority and
destroy the people of God, but all earthly kingdoms will eventually be crushed by
the coming of Christ. Thank God, He will win the great controversy!
14. After hearing Daniel’s clear interpretation of the dream,
what did Nebuchadnezzar say about the Lord?

Daniel 2:47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is,
that your God is a _______________ of _______________, and a Lord
of kings, and a revealer of secrets.

NOTE: Having seen that God has complete control of world events, even
Nebuchadnezzar readily acknowledged that the God Daniel served was above all
the heathen gods of Babylon. How quickly the picture had changed! Daniel and
his friends, because of their faithfulness to God, were elevated from their initial
captivity in Babylon to positions of prominent leadership for the kingdom (Daniel
2:48, 49). God always honors those who honor Him (1 Samuel 2:30).

Your Response

Recognizing that God is in full control of earthly events, are you willing to let
Him have full control of your life?
ANSWER: _______________

Gold = Babylon
The head of gold represented Babylon,
which was the ruling world power from
612-539 B.C.

Silver = Medo-Persia
The chest of silver represented
Medo-Persia, the ruling
world empire from
539-331 B.C.

Bronze = Greece
The thighs of bronze
represented Greece, the dominant
world ruler from 331-168 B.C.

Iron = Rome
The legs of iron represented Rome,
which enjoyed world supremacy
from 168 B.C.-A.D. 476.

Iron and Clay =
the Divided Empire
The feet that were partly iron and
partly clay represented a divided
empire that would not cleave together.
No single power has ruled the world
since A.D. 476, and it will remain
divided until Christ’s return.

Hey thanks for your comments. I posted the link above. you can take both courses and they are actually different one is more informative then the other but the same nonetheless. I would post them all, but I completed these studies and some should be of a personal thing and should not be posted. Let me know if you take the courses, a friend of mines is doing them and she is very new to anything Christian wise and I decided to take the classes again with her.

The disciples of Jesus were completely devastated. All of their hopes and dreams for the new kingdom of God had been nailed to a cross the previous Friday. Reeling with grief and confusion, Cleopas and his companion slowly made the seven-mile trip from Jerusalem down to their home in the little town of Emmaus. As the sun was setting that Sunday afternoon and they trod their way down the bumpy road, a stranger drew near to journey with them. Little did they know that this new traveling companion was the resurrected Lord Himself. Paying little heed to their fellow pilgrim, the two dejected disciples rehearsed the staggering events of the weekend, feeling more despondent with every step.

As Jesus silently listened, He desperately longed to reveal Himself to His downcast friends. But the Lord deliberately shielded His true identity because they needed now, more than ever, to understand the Scriptures. If Christ had allowed these two faithful followers to recognize who He was, they would have been far too excited to listen to the important truths He had to share.

Even after three and a half years of listening to His teaching and preaching, they still did not comprehend the nature of His mission. He had plainly told them, "The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him." Mark 9:31, 32. Jesus gently interrupted their sad conversation, and for the next two hours He gave them the keys for understanding all Scripture and prophecy.

1. How much of the Scriptures are we commanded to believe?
Luke 24:25 Believe ______ that the prophets have spoken.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God.
Answer:

NOTE: The complete oracles (sacred truth) of God are contained in the writings of the Old and New Testaments. The keys to understanding the prophecies of Revelation are found primarily in the stories of the Old Testament. For example, of the 404 verses found in the book of Revelation, 278 of them are echoes from other stories and prophecies in the Old Testament.

2. Whom did Jesus say the Scriptures and prophecies reveal?
Luke 24:27 Beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning ________.

John 5:39 Search the Scriptures; for ... they are they which testify of me.

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass.
Answer:

NOTE: The central figure in all of Scripture and prophecy is Jesus. This captivating series will cover many themes of prophecy, but keep in mind that the primary focus of Daniel and Revelation is Jesus Christ and His kingdom.

3. What is another name used in the Bible for Jesus?
John 1:1 In the beginning was the ______, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.
Answer:

4. What kind of people did God use to write the Bible?
2 Peter 1:21 _______ men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Answer:

5. Eternal life comes from knowing Jesus (John 17:3). How was Jesus known to His disciples?
Luke 24:35 He was known of them in breaking of __________.
Answer:

NOTE: In the Bible, bread is a symbol of the Word of God. Jesus said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4. As we read, digest, and follow the Scriptures, we will find strength, joy, peace, and everlasting life.

6. How important should Bible study be to the Christian?
Job 23:12 I have esteemed the words of his mouth ________ than my necessary food.

Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Answer:

NOTE: The devil hates the Bible and will do almost anything to prevent people from reading it. He knows that its prophecies expose his plans to deceive the human race. So don't be surprised if Satan attempts to distract you from this series of lessons or tries to get you preoccupied with other things. God will make a way for those who seek to know the truth to find it.

7. Who helps us understand the Bible?
John 16:13 When he, the __________ of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, ... shall teach you all things.

1 Corinthians 2:13 We speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth.
Answer:

8. What must I do to be certain the Holy Spirit is guiding my Bible study?
Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, ______, and it shall be given you.

Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

John 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God.
Answer:

NOTE: Part of the work of the Holy Spirit is to help us understand the truth of the Scriptures. This is why we should always ask the Holy Spirit to guide us before we open God's book. I can be certain the Holy Spirit is guiding my Bible study if (1) I ask Him to guide me, and (2) I am willing to accept and follow truth as He reveals it to me.

9. How does prayerful study of the Word help us?
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not ______ against thee.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Romans 15:4 Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we ... might have hope.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God ... and it shall be given him.
Answer:

10. What method of Bible study do the Scriptures recommend?
Isaiah 28:10 For ______________ must be upon precept, ... line upon line, ... here a little, and there a little.

1 Corinthians 2:13 But which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

2 Peter 1:20 No prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
Answer:

NOTE: We must lay aside our own ideas and study the Bible by reading everything in the Scriptures on any given subject ("here a little, and there a little") and by comparing all the verses for input. We should let the Bible speak for itself. When this is done, the truth always comes through clearly. This is how Jesus convinced the two disciples on the road to Emmaus that He was indeed the Messiah (Luke 24:27).

11. What will studying the Scriptures do for us?
2 Timothy 3:15 Thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto _________ through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Answer:

NOTE: The Scriptures help us understand God's great plan of salvation--the most important information ever given to mortals.

12. According to Jesus, where do we find the truth?
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the __________, and the life.

John 17:17 ...Thy word is truth.
Answer:

NOTE: We find the truth in God's Word--the Bible. Truth is a scarce commodity in today's world, and all the people of earth suffer as a result. The truth about everything that really matters is found in Scripture. Studying and following its counsel sets people free (John 8:32) and brings them happy, abundant living (John 15:11).

13. What warnings regarding Bible study are given in the Scriptures?
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, ... rightly ________________ the word of truth.

2 Peter 3:16 In all his epistles ... are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
Answer:

NOTE: "Rightly dividing the word of truth" means to interpret it correctly and truthfully. There is great danger in twisting Scripture to make it say what we want it to say. What I say about the Bible matters little. What counts is what Scripture says about itself.

14. How should we test all religious teachings and doctrines?
Acts 17:11 They received the word with all readiness of mind, and ________________ the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Answer:

NOTE: All religious teachings should be checked by the Bible. If any teaching does not clearly agree with the Scriptures, it is false and should be abandoned.

15. What happened when Jesus explained the Scriptures to His two discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus?
Luke 24:32 Did not our __________ burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
Answer:

16. After these two disciples knew that Jesus was alive and heard Him explain the prophecies, what did they do?
Luke 24:33 They rose up the same hour, and ________________ to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them.
Answer:

NOTE: One of the first reactions these disciples had after hearing Jesus explain the Scriptures was a burning desire to share the good news with others. We hope it is also your desire to invite your friends to join you in this dynamic series of Bible studies.

17. Do you wish to fully understand and follow the Scriptures?

Answer:
Yes
No

IMO I think we have many more years to go at least 100 years

blqlady, Interesting. How so?

I think less then 20. Because of the condition of the earth and the way people are treating one another and the new laws and the constant anger. Also the new illness, I have shingles. I had shingles around Christmas time and I have them again. How can so many people be getting shingles. Stress and if your immune system is low. So many people are sick at the same time. Colds last longer then usual. I don't think I even posted about the sickness yet.

Why do you think we have so much time, Just curious. We have all the signs that God is coming soon. But I am interested in knowing your point of view if you don't mind. not to pick it apart but its just interesting to know.
