Should I just skip a relaxer and get braids?

I have been wanting to get braids for the longest but I didn't have the money. I will be 10 weeks post relaxer next friday and I will have some money. Since I found someone yesterday that does braids I was wondering should I get some braids or get a relaxer and wait six weeks after that?

I would get the braids.

If your hair is strong right now, I'd opt for the braids. It will give your hair time to rest. If you relax and then wait to braid, your hair may not be as strong. Hopefully, this makes sense.

Personally, I'd rather get braids on hair that's got 10 weeks of new growth as opposed to 6. The more of your natural hair, the better IMO. You've already waited 10, why not wait 1 more and go for it!

Braids get my vote. My last relaxer was March 2004 and I've had 3 sets of braids since then. I can't wait to touch up in Sept. I'm currently in braids and giving serious thought to braiding in Sept instead of touching up.
