I just counted and I have about 20. It could be a lot worse i suppose. My goal is to narrow down to the essentials that i know actually work. I think having a list like this will show me when i am buying something similar to what i already have. Here's what i think i NEED:

- 1 Clarifying Shampoo
- 1 Moisturising Shampoo
- 1 Light/Cheap Conditoner [for weave]
- 1 Deep Conditioner
- 1 Protein Treatment
- 1 Heat Protectant
- 1 Gel
- 1 Oil Moisturizer
- 1 Growth Enhancer
- 1 Sheen Spray

How many products do you have?
Do you need them all?
What items must you have? [list above is my example]

UPDATE
i now have 15 products!

12 Oct, ETA:
The more i think about this whole thing, the less products i really want. i keep eye balling John Masters, but its so expensive, so i'm wondering if i can get away with 5 products for my hair. and 2 for the weave. :scratchch

1 Shampoo
1 Clarifier
1 Protein Deep Conditioner
1 Leave In
1 homemade growth treatment

For The Weave
1 Shampoo
1 Conditioner

Wow if I had to guess, I think I have about 100 products seriously. I probably only need:
Clarifying shampoo
Moisturizing shampoo
Protein treatment
Moisturizing conditioner
Cheap conditioner for co washes
Oils
Braid spray
Growth spray
Scalp grease/lotion
Twisting gel
Hair moisturizer lotion/grease (for hair and ends)

I think I have between 30-40. I definately don't need all of them. I've been trying to narrow them down for months and last weekend I went out and bought 2 deep conditioners, 2 gels, 2 hair combs.

I only need:
Clarifying shampoo
Moisturizing shampoo
deep conditioner
protien treatment
Cheap conditioner (for co washes)
Oils
gel
leave-in conditioner
anti-frizz serum
curl enhancer

Ok so that is only 10. My new goal.

Woops I forgot I self texturize. So add relaxer and neutralizing shampoo.

I don't even know. I have bought a lot of things in the last two months so I have lost count. Also I have more than one of certain products, for instance I have two Suave milk and honey conditioners and two motions cpr conditioners. I will get help one day  .

1 Instant Conditoner
1 Deep Conditioner
1 Setting Cream
1 Setting Lotion

2 Oils
1 Growth Spray
1 Sheen Spray

When I wash I use:
Burt's Bees baby or Rosemary Mint shampoo bar
Pantene conditioner
Pantene leave-in conditioner spray
Biosilk serum
Occasionally I use olive oil as well.

When I roller set and/or press I use all of the above minus the olive oil.

I use a clarifying shampoo once a week.

So, total I have 4 products I use daily.

What I need:

Clarifying shampoo
Conditioner for cowashes
Leave in conditioner
Moisturizer

What I like to have in addition:

Protein conditioner
Deep conditioner

That's really all I should have around here. I have thrown a lot of stuff out recently, but I still have stuff lying around that I just don't use.

Let's put it this way: I recently moved. It took 2 1/2 boxes for all my hair stuff to include flat iron, rollers, flexi rod, etc.

I would love to cut it down to:

1 Clarifying shampoo
2 Moisturizing shampoos
1 Neutralizing shampoo
2 Instant conditioners
1 deep conditioner
1 protein conditioner
1 leave in conditioner
1 setting foam
1 moisturizer
2 oils (olive and jojoba)
1 oil sheen
1 serum (has to be NTM)

That's still 15 products. Geesh there's no hope for me! :look:

I need:

1 Moisturizing Shampoo
1 Clarifying Shampoo
2 Moisturizing Conditioners (to alternate)
2 Leave-In Conditioners (one moisturizing one protein)
1 Heavy Protein Treatment
1 Light Protein treatment
1 Hair Oil
1 Daily Moisturizer
1 Gel
1 Pomade
1 Serum (for flatironing)
1 Shine product (oil sheen, etc)
Total:14 Items.

What I have is about 9 conditioners, 4 leave-ins, and then everything else on the list is at one. I know I definetly don't need all the conditioners, but I'm almost out of the others so that will be at 2 soon.

Man oh man ... I definitely have a problem. I have almost 200 bottles of hair products and out of that, only about 15 of them are shampoo. I don't buy a lot of leave-ins but I have bought soooo many conditioners that it's ridiculous. I have ... let's see ... 1,2,3... 4 big bins (like the size that you would store comforters) full of hair products. Then I have ... hmm ... 1,2,3,4 medium-sized bins full of hair products. Then hmm ... a 4-shelf stand with hair products and uh ... 2 other tower stands with all hair stuff ... and uh another stand with 4 drawers full of hair products and then I have some bags in the closet from the Beauty Supply store in the city full of dominican products and another bag in my room from ACE full of products that I just bought.. Oh and a shelf in the bathroom with about 6 products for my boys.

AY! AY! AY! Pienso que soy un heroinómano de producto!

Help is on the way though. I am having a big yard sale with focus on hair stuff of course and am going to get rid of the things that I have used but are not my staples and I have tried more than once but don't like. I doubt that I will stop buying new hair products because that's my only habit (don't smoke, drink, get my hair done, nails done, party, etc.).

Anyway the product that are always in heavy rotation are:

Redken All Soft Line
Redken Extreme Line
Redken Cleansing Cream
Paul Mitchell Moisture Line
Paul Mitchell Smoothing Line
Nacidit Olive Oil Rinse
Nexxus Therappe
Nexxus Humectress
Nexxus Keraphix
Nexxus Emergencee
Affirm Sustenance
L'oreal Smooth Intense Serum
Rusk Smoother Leave-In
Aquage Smoothing Shampoo
Jamaican Mango and Lime - No More Itch Spray
Salerm Wheat Germ Mask
Pantene Light Detangling Spray (once I run out of the old formula I will no longer be using this though .... the new formula smells awful and is unbearable)

and hopefully soon to be added will be:

Palm Oil
Silicon Mix
Sedal Anti-Sponge Leave-In
Aquage Healing Conditioner
Monoi Oil

-1 grease/pomade

I've got...

9 shampoos

10 conditioners

10 dyes

9 random hair products

I've got a few spares of some of the things around somewhere too.
This is in my student house. At home I've got more things. Not more than this lot though... I don't think.

The minumum I'd need at any one time would be:

1 shampoo
1 clarifying shampoo
1 moisturising conditioner
1 protein conditioner
coconut oil
1 cream heat protector
1 spray heat protector
1 serum
1 bottle of dye

ETA: make that 10 random hair products, just spotted a bottle of Alma oil...
