For those who have been relaxed and natural

Relaxed or Natural my hair:

-does not like silicones
-grows A LOT when in protective styles
-likes to be conditioned/moisturized in sections
-hates heavy products
-likes natural products

My hair (relaxed or natural):

•does what it wants to, WHEN it wants to. if it wants to curl up, it'll curl up. if it wants to be straight, it'll be straight. It has NO regard for how I (the "parent") wants to style it!
•my hair LOVES a good DC
•it can retain moisture better than I think it can
•it THRIVES when left alone in PS
•it doesn't like to be cornrowed (but then again that could be due to my lack of braiding skills!)
•it hates when I get a bad case of product junkie-ism and throw 50-11 products on it

My natural hair is:
Darker, shinier, silkier simply because the hair shaft has not been compromised

My relaxed hair:
Retained more length on the crown than the nape and didn't like a lot of oils

My relaxed and natural hair
Prefers to be washed every four days because my hair tends to get dry after that and my scalp starts to itch

*however if I treated my relaxed hair as I treat my natural hair now I believe my relaxed hair would have done better than it did

OP, great thread. I'm taking notes. I don't have anything to contribute just yet. I'm newly natural after being relaxed for the past 20+ years.
