Are twists like braids meaning should you still give your hair a break? And ifso what does a break for a natural head afro? I'm doing them without extensions do I still a break at all?

For me, twists or braids on natural hair without extensions is a break. Loose hair equals knots, tangles, etc.

If anything I would just change up the parts.

thats what i would suggest.
maybe do teeny tiny ones one week, then do bigger ones the next week or however often you are doing your hair over...for longer hair, a break IMO would be bantu knots or buns...but for a fro I guess just changing the parts as Kusare said.

I agree with the posters no break is really needed when the twists are done on natural hair... just wash condition and redo when your ready

I've been wearing twists with my hair for years, and it's thrived. It's only 'breaks' are getting washed, usually.
The only part I really focus on moving around is my center part - I angle it different directions. I fingerpart for the twists, so I'm pretty certain I'm hitting different 'parts' every time I do my hair.

I do the 'grab and twist' thing also  so I don't have any worries about permanent parts.
