Hello Ladies,
I hope you are all well.
In light of the events that took place today on the board, I wanted to take this time to give you ladies some advice on dealing with trolls. I wasn't logged on at the time and didn't see what took place, but after all of the PM's I've received, I thought it would be good to address this subject.
For those who don't know, a troll is a person who logs onto a message board and starts making statements that are meant to incite negative reactions from members. Their sole purpose is to cause an uproar and get everyone upset. If they can make enough nasty comments to get people angry enough to respond to their posts, they have achieved their objectives.
We're going to get them. There isn't much that can be done about that.
But, you do have some power over them. The best thing to do is to starve a troll. Don't feed them, don't give them what they want. Your best line of defense is to ignore them until someone comes along and just shuts the thread down all together. They can't enjoy themselves that much if no-one responds to what they're saying. No response takes all the fun out of their silly antics.
I know this can be difficult because the urge to put some of these individuals in their place can be overwhelming.
Believe me, I do understand the desire to tell some folks off.
But often times, it just makes matters worst.
So ladies, enjoy your time on the board. It was created for like-minded women to come together and talk about hair, and a lot of other topics. Should a troll happen to cross your path, ignore them if you can. It's one time when your silence will speak volumes.
