Crown & Glory washing method and dry scalp?

For those of you that have a dry/flaky scalp and wash your hair using the Crown & Glory Method (washing hair in 4 or more braids w/diluted shampoo), are you effectively able to get the scalp clean? Since you are not supposed to be to rough with your hair using this method what have been your results? For those that have trouble with this washing method due to dry scalp or hair not getting clean etc, how did you combat it?

Do you mean you wash your braids in four braids, or your hair in-between wearing braids ie during the break from braids? Sorry if that's a dumb question.
