I am so upset right now, I could cry. About two years ago, I had a bad experience with a hairdresser who caused my then past shoulder length hair to thin horribly to the point where there was no point in keeping the ends so I cut my hair to about 4 inches all around and started over. In the past two years I grew my hair back out this time reaching armpit length and was so excited about my journey to BSL. I decided to try the crown and glory method in an effort to speed up this process because in the past my hair has responded very well to braid extensions. However, this time, when I took the braids down as I usually do, I washed my hair (per the C&G method) which caused horrible tangling and matting as I had not had a relaxer in 11 weeks and I have 4something hair. Anyway, long story short, I ended up going to JC Penney to get it detangled where the stylists (3 of them) took over 2 hours to detangle my then thick armpit length hair which has now been reduced to extremely thin slightly above arm pit length mess. I cannot believe that all of my hard work and diligence in caring for my hair has been undone in a matter of hours. I am primarily upset because I don't think I had to loose as much hair as I did in the detangling process and would not have if the stylists had even remotely tried to listen to me when I repeatedly asked them not to try to detangle my hair by combing from root to tip in one stroke or not to use a rattail fine-tooth comb on my 11 week post hair. No, none of my requests were acknowledged. Unfortunately, I had few options. The good thing about it is that my hair will grow back and maybe even healthier than before. I guess I want to get some feedback from you ladies, especially those of you who have experienced setbacks on the best way to get the thickness back. I was thinking of getting a braid in weave just in the middle and wearing it in a bun or ponytail at all times between relaxers. I am wondering if this will help my hair grow or be more damaging. What do you all think? If not the weave, a better alternative?
