Aubrey Organics White Camellia DISAPPEARED in my hair!!!!

I've never had this happen to me before.

I just washed my hair w/ Bentonite Clay and rinsed it really well. Then I broke the seal on my brand new AO White Camellia conditioner and slathered it all over my thick, natural 4a/b hair.

I detangled (easily) in sections and twisted each section until I could see the conditioner oozing out from between the twists.

I put on a plastic cap and sat under the dryer for 30 minutes.

Once I took off the cap, a bunch of warm water made its way down my neck and back. I thought that was weird - but whatever.

I go to the mirror to see how my hair looks and the conditioner is GONE. I mean gone, gone. I lift up a twist and CLEAR water is dripping from it.

My hair is plump and soft looking but there is NO TRACE of the conditioner at all.

I rinse my hair and the water runs clear. Was my hair so thirsty that it simply ate every ounce of the White Camellia?

Has this ever happened to you? I'm about to twist my hair and let it air dry. I'm so excited to see how my hair turns out.

your hair must have been hungry!

AO conditioners are awesome, they really do penetrate into the hair shaft. whenever i DC on dry hair (i'm relaxed) with this stuff, my water always rinses clear, and my hair comes out softer than it does with any other conditioner.

The night before last I DCed overnight with AO White Camellia and some Yes To Carrots condish.. And it pretty much completely disappeared too. It was pretty amazing-- for me that's when I know its working.

I added a little more conditioner in the morning and sprayed a little salt water over it--sort of a lazy kiyafizzle (I just took out some kinky twists and I'm pampering before I order my flat iron.) My hair was sooooooo soooooooooooooooooooooooft and strong feeling afterwards.... definitely a keeper. My pj urges (for conditioner) have mainly subsided because with those three things... I think my hair will be happy forever.

And yeah, my hair looked extra plumped and surprisingly incredibly defined afterwards. There was still a lot of lovely fuzziness going on, but there was definitely a lot more clumping than usual..

Ya that happens to me with those conditioners too
That's also why they are very good as leave ins

The same happens to me with WC, stream of water when I take off my plastic cap. I don't like it... It does really well at smoothing my new growth, but I didn't feel like my hair was getting as much 'nourishment' so to speak because it seems like its more water than substance. I like it, but... the jury's still out on this one for me, my hair likes HSR better for sure.

Yeah that happened to me yesterday with apohgee 2 minute, i clarified my hair first so maybe that's why.

Yes, this happens to me with AO conditioners. AO White Camellia is my favorite. I love how it penetrates into the hair shaft.

My hair is soft and moisturized except for the very, very ends - which probably need to be clipped anyway.

that's interesting.

so if the conditioner DOESN'T do this does it mean your hair is already moisturized? Or does it possibly mean it is not penetrating the hair shaft?

I heart AO condishes.... they really moisturize but don't weigh your hair down or make it feel greasy. The hsr and honeysuckle rose are amazing!

Happens to me all the time.

That's the reason I'm so heavy handed with conditioner.

I always assumed that it was because I have very coarse hair. :scratchch

So it's a good thing when that happens? Cool. I went to pick some of this condish up and I can't find it. All I saw was Avalon Organics. When I saw the price of it I turned around and high tailed it out of there. Anyways does anyone have a pic of this condish. I really want to try it as a DC. I am still searching for a moisturizing one.

As I read this thread I remembered reading about this in Ultra Black Hair Growth II by Cathy Howse. I just got out my copy and turned to the chapter about conditioners. Here's what she says on page 93:

"Now, how do you find a good conditioner? Here's a hint. If after sitting under the dryer for a deep condition and there is a lot of water in the bottom of the plastic cap, then certainly it is not on your hair and its contents are mostly water. Water will only condition your hair when it is present. When it evaporates, your hair is left unprotected!"

The same thing has happened to me with some of the deep conditioners that I have used. Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose is one of them. I've never used the White Camellia conditioner.

IDARE- That's the one I seen at whole foods but I could swear it doesn't say Aubrey on it. IDK I searched all up and down that store but I def remember seeing that before. Thanks.

That's It Babe! That's the Bottle all their 'Poos & Conditioners come in! Different Color Labels. So read them. example: HSR, WC, Island Naturals and a few others are YELLOW, GPB, Blue Cammomile etc..BLUE, Rosa Mosqueta BURGANDY.....

If you don't mind ordering online vitacost.com has it at the cheapest I've ever seen it before and shipping is like 5 bucks

I like aubrey the gpb is the BEST for any hair type you probably may see 5 strands of hair at the MOST and I know because I've had mega shedding but if I use that there's noooooo problem. I also love green tea for a no buildup rinse conditioner and currently using a combo of bga for strengthening rinse each time I shampoo and dc'ing with jojoba and aloe and OMG it's sooo good. Jojoba and Aloe is the heaviest but it's healthy for my hair. Too heavy for every week but every other is good

Just to be sure: a good conditioner DOES leave a lot of water behind?

The only thing that I can think is that this is my first time using a no-cone conditioner. And cones don't absorb into the hair, do they?

My hair is still soft today, except the very ends. I'll keep working on them.

I'd like to know the answer to sleepflower question as well. My assumption was that if it was watery or water was in the bag that it isn't a good condish. I am about to go rinse out my AO Island Natural right now. I hope I am suprised. They don't have HSR at the closest whole foods to me just the poo. Sucks but let's see what Island natural is working with.
