Hi ladies,

I was just wondering what is silicon mix and what does it do for your hair?
I know so many women use it, so what are the benefits?????

TIA

It is one of my staples. I love the smell, it detangles my hair very well, and leaves it very soft.

I don't know if OP is still confused but I am. Is it a conditioner called Silicone Mix that I can get from a store or site or is it Silicone that you mix into your conditioner?

You could probably get it from the store, but I order mine from Sickbay.biz. It is called Silicone Mix and it's a Dominican conditioner that works very well.

Like one of the other posters mentioned, I mix this too (not that it needs to be mixed, it can stand alone) but I have so many conditioners and my hair likes them all. I really need to join PJ Rehab...

You should try it, you won't be sorry.

Rivas Silicon Mix Intensive Conditioner is made by Avanti Labs in the Dominican Republic. It is my favorite deep conditioner. I also use their leave-in conditioner (my absolute favorite). My hair does not tangle after using this product, even when I am over 12 weeks post-relaxer. I am the Silicon Mix Junkie and usually use it with every wash (2x a week). I sit under the dryer with it for ten minutes and my tangles just drop dead!

I used to sell it but I think you can get it from Roundbrushair.com (am I spelling this correctly, people?). It comes in 8oz, 16oz, 32oz....

But I got the 60 ounce jar so I am the ultimate Silicon Mix Junkie! :weird:

I would have gotten that one, but I had 2 16 oz jars that I just bought before that Sickbay sale, so for the sale I got the 36 ounce jar. I have enough to last me until April. I also got the Pearl one, that is pretty good too!

I LOVE me some silicon mix conditioner! It was the first dominican product that I used. It smells great and my hair loves it. I just keep buying more and more..I even let hubby use it once a week after he gets his hair cut and even he is hooked.

BTW: They can keep the shampoo..I bought a whole bottle and found out after one use that it has formaldehyde in it..so yeah, I wasted my money..

www.roundbrushhair.com The site has info about Silicon Mix and other Dominican products as well. I have the 60 oz jar as well. I'd say if you're a relaxer stretcher or transitioner, give it a go. Detangles like nobody's business. It does contain MO and cones (hence the name) so if you're trying to avoid these, this may not be the product for you. Another thing, in order to avoid build up, I don't use it very often-like I won't use it 2-3 days in a row if I'm using it to cowash.

I totally agree with you and I just bought another 60oz from the Wheaton Beauty Supply Store in MD. I dc all day with this stuff. I LUUUUUUUUV it!

How does it compare to Lacio Lacio (my current leave in of choice)?
MUCH thicker than Lacio2, left my hair smoother and shinier than Lacio when rolleretting. I can use it on both wet and dry hair while Lacio is too runny for me to use on my dry hair. HTH

Thanks! I like the wet and dry factor. I've only used lacio wet, never dry and would like the versatility.

I mix my Silicon Mix leave-in conditioner with Lacio and get great results, the best of both worlds, even add castor oil sometimes.
The Silicon Conditioner is my Baby Daddy,my hair loves it,I buy the 60 0z size also.

I love this condish, I use it weeks at a time consecutively with no buildup issues. It doesn't have any more cones in it than a normal DC and it's where we get the slip factor from and how it helps to detangle so well. It's a great balanced DC with it's share of protein.

I'm not big into ingredients, I just want a product to work. But for those of you who are label readers, here's some info and sources for you.:computer:

Ingredients: Water, Mineral Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Glycerine, Citric Acid, Cetrimonium Chloride, Dimethycone Copolyol, Cyclomethicone, Keratin, Ceramide, Diazolidinyl Urea and Lodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance.

Cyclomethicones evaporate quickly after helping to carry oils into the top layer of epidermis. From there, they may be absorbed by the skin. Cyclomethicones perform a similar function in hair care products by helping nutrients enter the hair shaft. http://www.3dchem.com/molecules.asp?ID=315

Mineral Oil - see here... http://www.cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredient_details.php?ingredient_id=922

Dimethycone Copolyol - see here.... http://www.cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredient_details.php?ingredient_id=1437

See, ladies, nothing to be afraid of. It's a great product!:yep:

Is it considered a protein conditioner or a moisturizing conditioner?
I believe it's the best of both worlds. I was just about to post the ingredients but Your Cheeziness already did. I love the keratin and ceramide factor.
^^Same question. Last week I ordered some silicon mix conditioner and lacio lacio leave in. Do they work well on naturals?
I think it does. I also noticed when I was still using a relaxer, it didn't work well on freshly relaxed hair. I got better results the further I got into a stretch. Even now, when I need a tried and true detangler, I pull this one out and it melts those tangles right away.

This was my 1st Dominican staple, but like I said in my first post, I wouldn't recommend using it all the time unless you clarify or chelate because it may cause build up.
