***The Secret to The African American Girls Long Hair***

A1 shut up!! :lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

:giggle:

You know what I thought of when I read the bolded?

Hold on, now I see it. The picture of the little girl was her when she was a little girl. She's probably always had long hair. She's just not showing her face as an adult. If you look at the first video when she's flinging her hair back you can see that she definitely has hips and is an adult. The only clips of a child are in photo form, not in video form so those are probably childhood photos.
Right . . . this is what I was thinking. The first video you can tell it is a woman.

I think its so stupid that people onTHIS site are questioning the "blackness" of this lady. :lachen:What? Her hair is too long to be black? And to think she has type 2 hair? LMAO Thats a braid out if I aint never seen one in my LIFE! Even if it aint the lady thats speaking (which I think it is with chronological pictures) SO WHAT? Her hair is still gorgeous and if it aint her then why would she let someone videotape her hair? Blah! Some of yall really make me nausesous!

Vaseline never worked wonders for my hair natural or relaxed hair. I remember i used to think vaseline would moisturizer my hair and i would keep puttin more an more on and could never understand why my hair would not get moistrized.

Her hais is very nice though

I agree it did nothing for me either, but my sister loves it. She used it to seal moisture in her hair. It grew to her waist at the time. But it may have been other factors as well like she was preggo and on vitimins. I think it depends on how much you use.

All i want to know is who is the child with the maxi glide? she sounds like an older woman to me so were maxiglides around in the 70s and 80s. Plus the quality of that pic doesn't match

So true!

I went and looked at the two vids again.

In the first vid her hair looks... off. Like she has a good amount of hair of her own, but it looks weavish to me.

The second vid...

When was the maxiglide created? The girl in the first pic of the second vid with the maxiglide couldn't be the grown woman... :perplexed

Also... the baby pic looks digital - it also doesn't look much like her, but I was born fair and with straight hair myself, so I guess that part is possible. A digital camera 1970's?

The rest of the pics after the baby pic look scanned.

It's weird!

Is it safe to say there will NOT be a melted Vaseline challenge? (Although, a trip to the BSS shows that the majority of folks are purchasing hopped up Vaseline.)

Btw, she's only listed as age 22 in her profile. Both could be her.

Ok the little girl must be her daughter. Her voice sounds like an older woman and those pictures looked more like something taken in the 90's. The little girl's hair was very lovely.

When I was little my mom washed my hair every 2 months :perplexed
Put Vaseline every day
BRUSHED my hair every single day

But she also never cut my hair, hardly ever put any type of heat on it, and my hair was always in a protective bun 24/7.

My opinion is that even if you use Vaseline your hair can thrive. I can't imagine following the 1978 regimen on my daughter's hair, but I'm sure that the protective styles and not cutting my hair ever probably contributed to me having very long hair as a child. I don't know if this woman is for real or not. The only thing that confused me is that she said she doesn't use heat but presses her hair and uses a Maxiglide. She has beautiful hair.

Oh I highly recommend the Stickman eats Boogerman video :lachen:

Hmmm... 1986 there were no commercial digital cameras, so that wouldn't explain the baby pic... unless it's not digital.

However, I know photograpy and it looks digital to me. My bf is a professional photograper and I had him look at the pic :lachen: he says it looks digital too.

Were maxiglides around in 1998? She looked to be about 12 years old in the first pic of the second video.

I don't think they are the same person after looking very closely at the pics and taking everything into consideration.

I dunno what the heck is goin on here  She should post if it's her or her daughter.

Am I alone in thinking that both vids are of HER? :look:

Nope, I think they are both her as well. There are a lot of people whose voices don't match their looks.

That's what I think also, but I'm not certain.

:lachen:ITA!!!! someone with type 2 hair is not going to be plaiting, vaselining and pressing their hair, um no. If you look closely that is a braidout on pressed hair.:yep: Not even going to touch the questioning of blackness:ohwell:

At bolded: I sure hope not. It better be be a melted vaseline-clarifying shampoo challenge if so.:lachen:

I think the first video was a picture of her daughter and the video was her. The second video was a child. Her child probably. The length (as with most people) is genetic. She's not doing anything most people don't already do here.

Nope, I think they are both her as well. There are a lot of people whose voices don't match their looks.

LOL at the predictability of one's voice:look:. I must have skipped that lecture in biology.

Still not understanding the controversy, I initially got the impression that the first woman with the long braid was the mother, but those child pictures could very well be of someone who is 22 now. In the comments, the daughter tells someone that she is the daughter:
Thanks For Watching! This is my hair. I'm the daughter, replying back to all comments.

Their/Her hair is pretty and what I call the well executed old school press, just done with a flat iron now. Nothing special, but maybe not as widely known today. Although it is a little unclear I think it is a mother /daughter or daughter with a more mature sounding voice. I am not seeing the scandal, but oh well:rolleyes:.Ima leave folks to do what they do.

Really?

There were no comments last time I looked.

And there was no explanation as to who the people in the vids were.

If it was explained a little better, then there wouldn't be so many questions. All she had to do was stick a little "pictures of my daughter's hair" SOMEWHERE in there. the title, the vid, the comments... somewhere dammit

....

different strokes for different folks!

if she wants to brush her hair for 15 minutes, and wash it 1x every two weeks, and put hot melted vaseline jelly on it, its all good, as long as it works for her!

would i recommend this? nah. not at all.

Why am I back in this thread??? Perhaps it's the most interesting thing that popped up in new posts...

Anyway, her regimen would work for my eldest daughter because her hair is going to be long regardless. Vaseline's (petroleum jelly) is still the favored base in a bunch of stuff. I won't be applying Vaseline to my hair, but something about it fascinates me. Perhaps I just like melted stuff....cheese and fudge and what not.

I'd be soooo reluctant to create any videos about anything due to the scrutiny that follows. Unless she's got stock in Vaseline, Nexxus, or Maxiglide, there doesn't seem to be any agenda. She's got a simple regimen and whether that includes melted vasie or not, it works for her. Proof is in the pudding. :)

I don't think that's her smacking but the clicking on and off of her recording her voice overs for the video. You can tell with the change of the background noise.
Her hair is beautiful. So wait. That is the daughter AND her hair?

Well you all have upset some folks:

I WOULD NEVER go to longhaircareforumDOTcom!!
All those catty, *****y women do is sit around, gossip, talk about "There's no way that can be her hair" and "oh there were no digital cameras back then so how can she take pictures"...

That **** pisses me off. I hate that site and would never join. No real love, no real inspiration. NONE at ALL!

Just last week or so, they made an entire thread about devoted to hating on some lady's growth vid on youtube.

BIT CHES! BI TCHES! BI TCHES! BIT CHES!
Someone here posted this after I complimented the lady and also suggested that different things worked for different people....

Listen, I think that "girl" in the picture is her. She is just little.

As if it's not understandable to question what makes no sense. As if we aren't used to seeing black women with long hair.

You just post a video not telling who anyone is and expect no one to ask questions or wonder what's going on?

Yeah, I said that it looks like a digital baby photo, and I don't think that the baby pic is her. I assumed that it was her DAUGHTER. Most people do think it's her hair. Hell, I even said she has good artistic talent from her pokemon vids.

People really need to learn how to communicate better. If she just would have explained in 10 measly seconds who these people were supposed to be in the vids, then all of this confusion would have been avoided.

I don't know why we are so obsessed over the voice. It is interesting to me that any outside video/hair pic etc...seems to be questioned/trashed to no extent.

It's not only the voice.

Video 1 - a grown woman
Video 2 - a little girl

No explanations as to who is who.

How we supposed to know? :perplexed

As for other people being trashed from youtube, I think that's bad. However in this case I can see WHY there was/is confusion.

I mean, even NOW we can't agree if it's just the woman, or the woman and the woman's child.

This thread is still going on. Geez, it's just hair. Whoever hair it is, it's beautiful. I can see that there is some truth to her response.

:lachen::lachen:...I saw that comment...it made me chuckle

I do think we tend to hate on folks' youtube videos in general (Unless it's someone most people know and posts regularly on LHCF...)....we pick it apart from top to bottom, video second by video second critiquing and adding critical comments- analyzing it like that's our jobs... :ohwell:

she was just sharing what works for her (try'na help some sista's out...) and even if the fact is she has managed to maintain her length from when she was a child, she must be doing something right for her hair...it ain't breakin' off...she's sitting on it (thick and full all the way to the ends)...how many folks on here can say that?:nono:

I think her hair is beautiful :yep:
