"I'm a need to take my hair back to school..bc this ish got the wrong grade, I dunno if it cheated" :lachen::lachen::lachen:...She ignorant as hail, but I laughed so much!! and she does have a point to a certain degree.

Just wrote a big long reply, but either the board is acting crazy or it's me :)

I was responding to you the idea that women who embrace their natural hair usually embrace a natural lifestyle. You are going to a whole new topic with the good hair/bad hair. Obviously this is an issue. But I did not think this was what we were talking about.

I never said there wasn't a good hair/bad hair debate. I'm well aware of the issues that can arise surrounding wearing one's natural hair. I was under the impression that we were talking about naturals trying to be more natural in other parts of their lives, so I didn't even address these issues because they're not part of the point.

As to whether or not natural women are assumed to use "juices and berries" all the time ....well, we can bat anecdotal evidence back and forth all day. I've heard that from plenty of people. I believed it myself before going natural. How many natural ladies, on this board and on others, have had assumptions made about their politics, way of living, etc because of their hair? I've seen plenty of posts about it.

I never tried to minimize anyone's feelings. If you take a look at my blog, you will see that. My hair and the reasons I currently wear my hair as is, mean a lot to me. I love to encourage people to love their natural hair.

I am simply saying that it is not that deep for everyone who decides to wear their natural hair. Some people just like their hair. They don't want to change the world, they don't want to change their lifestyle. What I was originally replying to was that all natural ladies don't go "all natural" in other parts of their lives. Or perhaps it's more about social issues than it is about "eating berries".

I'm sleepy, ya'll have fun.

Okay, my problem is that you keep stating the bolded as if I said that everyone IS that deep or as if I even once implied that I disagreed with that. I don't see where we disagree or why you keep responding as if we are, but whenever I state my reasons for going natural and the various reasons why most naturals have, I keep getting that same response as if I am trying to place everyone in a box. My very first post stated that I agree with that, and so have subsequent posts. I was simply explaining why the connection between natural hair and natural lifestyle is not irrational or mutually exclusive, but that they go together for many of us. To me, embracing yourself is the link their and that is a part of a wider social issue that blacks have to deal with.

And I'm not implying that I or anyone with a "holistic" lifestyle wants to change the world or use juices and berries but that keeps being repeated too. Just like I don't think that overweight women are fake naturals, I don't think using juices and berries is a necessity for being natural. Someone else might define being natural that way, but each natural defines what makes them natural differently. I was trying to say that the social issue of "embracing yourself" is normally correlated with being natural in other aspects of life, just like its correlated with being a liberal. I'm talking about a subset of naturals and you all keep repeating that some of us aren't like that, like that wasn't already obvious from my first post. Its as if my perspective just doesn't want to be heard. So at this point I have no idea where this conversation is headed. Either my posts are not being read fully or there's some other reason why words are being placed in my posts.

Yes that box does exist, but I hardly EVER EVER EVER EVER hear that one mentioned. EVER.

That box has been repeated in this very thread, over and over. People keep acknowledging that box but not the others you listed.

If I am placing someone in a box simply because I'm stating that many naturals are "holistic" naturals (which is subjectively defined), then you are doing the same thing by saying that many naturals don't care about anything deeper than a hairstyle.

i can tell you why there arent a lot of long haired 4z naturals: b/c at a certain point its easier to cut it back to APL. I know that when I was natural I noticed A LOT of naturals keeping their hair cut to that length and when I got there I cut mine back to that length too.

Why did you decide to cut your hair back to APL?

Just wondering, how long did you let your hair get before you cut it back to APL?

I also have a feeling that APL may be my limit it I am blessed to get to that point. Anything longer than APL 5d hair just seems a lot to deal with.

OMG I am dying!!! This mess it toooooo funny Gym and I are in tears! That fool said cow spit and 5a!!!! whew I didn't click on it immediately because I was scared it was gonna be something extremely negative.. and while she laked a certain je ne sais quoi but she had a point. I needed that kind of laugh today.

Ok, I am convinced, that is either a MAN or a Cow (the way she is chewing that blue gum ... got to be a cow)

Thanks for posting this video!!!! I loved it...truly got the best laugh I've had in a long time. But seriously, I honestly thought she was just being silly (as she stated) with the cursing, etc. I don't think that's how she acts for real. I'll have to check out her other videos. :)

OMG so she has obviously not been on here or visited Fotki. I cant even hate on her because before I knew about the forums, thats what I thought. lol And honestly these are the same thoughts that most black girls think when you have never really seen black women with long hair. She just sound soooo stupid though because I know the truth, which is any woman of color can grow long hair, regardless of hair type.

Wait how can you tell if somebody hair is real or fake by their eyebrows?

I thought she said you could tell if they would already have long hair and be able to get there faster. Because in alot of cases, the hairy girls are the ones with long hair and many of my friends who never have to get their eyebrows arched and are thin have short hair. But maybe I missed her saying the real/fake stuff.

Wow she had one of them "ignant" moments. There are plenty of 4bs on YT that grew hair long. RusticBeauty is one of them I can name off the top of my head. Other than that, her speech was funny to me, and she resembles Paul mooney to me a lot.

an insult to paul mooney!!!! and i love him to death.

Hilarious. And I understand what she is saying. Every time a topic like this comes up people get offended because someone questions whether 4z etc. hair can grow long. I think her point and her frustration is that if there are all these women with this hair type that can grow their hair long, where are they outside of the same folks that get mentioned all the time? She wants to see advice based on her hair type and not from someone with a looser curl implying that her 4z hair is 4z hair because she did something wrong.

Even in this thread a couple folks have tried to imply that 4z is just 4b not moisturized. Again the assumption is made that somehow having 4z type of hair means you are doing something wrong. That seems like her frustration to me. She has challenges unique to her hair type and wants to see some real examples of it-nothing wrong in that.

Off Topic but kami02 - Your hair is . Are you relaxed?

I think she meant if someone has a soft silky weave and is claiming that it's their real hair but they have quite thick coarse eyebrows (the hair itself, not the shape).

I think LaFemme's correct. There's this joke about thick eyebrows/neck hair/baby hair and if someone has a lot then they also have long, thick hair. I don't think this is really true, but if it is I hope these thick eyebrows of mine pay up! They haven't yet before though.

I feel her on her new video......because where I am natural-hair women do not live naturally....they are fat or obese, smoke or worse and the only thing they take care of is their hair. They are gross fast-food (junk food) loving, never exercise type people. They just spend their money on hair products and whatever other thing that is not meant for someone claiming to be 'all-natural'. Makes no sense but then want to say they are natural. No, you're not natural your hair is just relaxer-free. I see too many obese or smoking relaxer-free women claiming they are natural. No, you are not.

OsnapCnapp! I actually understood what you were trying to say and I agree. I've tried to make this point on the board before and of course I have gotten jumped on as well. My hair is relaxed, but I eat clean, exercise, and generally take good care of myself and it just irks me when people who take care of nothing except for their hair try to judge those who are "not natural" aka not relaxer-free, who may actually be living a much more natural, and a much healthier lifestyle overall.

Sigh....to each her own lifestyle choices....

As for the video, I'm glad it was posted. I subscribed to her channel. I watched three of her videos and didn't necessarily agree with every point, but I really get tired of the hair-gang mentality, and everyone trying to sell something claiming that it grew their hair.....or pretending like everything works for everybody. I think her vids are some of the REALEST ones I've ever seen on youtube...I read this whole long thread, but I didn't read anyone actually point out what she said that was supposedly ignorant....(I guess it was the language that threw people off? IDK)

I've been a subscriber of hers for a while, found her via her sister's channel. I enjoy her videos and see nothing wrong with her hair video. She has legit questions and instead of talking about the video, send her some links and point her to some examples of long 4b - 4z hair.

TBH, my hair's always been "long" well, long to people that don't know many people with apl or longer hair. And my eyebrows are stupid bushy. they can fully grow in, in a week and im just a hairy person. So it could possibly have some barrings on certain people. Because I know daggonit. I'm hairy.

I thought that was hysterical. "....I'm talkin' 'bout that 'cracklin' when you part that sh__ hurr"....haaaaa OMG.
She's driving during making this video but something tells me she's not driving to the nearest Sally's to get some deep conditioner.

 I have really fine eyebrows and minimal body hair but my hair (on my head) has always been thick, strong and resilient....and I've always retained pretty well. I'm always confused when people say stuff about thick eyebrows and its correlation to long hair....I only recently started hearing about it on this site....it sure dont apply to me!

LMAO :lachen: fist off i don't think she's driving, she's obviously in the parking lot, parked. also yeah she's cursing and acting a fool to be funny BUT i think lots of people feel the same with not so many words, at least when they first started their hair journey...that's why there are so many threads talking about "people who's never had long hair not even in their childhood and now have long hair come in and post" anyways i think the video is HILARIOUS lol
p.s.: i know anybody can grow hair long
