Here's the deal with cones. It's not that cones are bad, but if you have eliminated shampoo from your regimen then you should not use them b/c they build up on the hair over time and have to be removed with shampoo. That buildup can prevent moisture from penetrating the hair shaft. If you use shampoo, then you can use all the cones you want as they will be removed.

Some cone free products are: Elucence, Aubrey Organics, VO5 conditioners, Suave Conditioners, Tigi Bedhead Moisture Maniac, most curl activator gels, Creme of Nature poos, Jamaican Mango and Lime Cactus leave in, and Abba Nourishing poo and leave in

Adding to what's been said, some cones are water-soluable and can be easily removed by normal 'poos and some 'cones are insoluable in water and cannot be removed by normal 'cones, thus, the need use clarifying 'poos with much stonger detergents. These clarifying 'poos can strip the hair somewhat and cause dryness for some. The cone thing is somewhat complex, IMO and I suggest doing some reseach in order to gain a better understanding. Below are a few links that might help jump start your research:

Thanks everyone for the 411 on cones. I have started doing alot of cw's and I don't want anything to hinder moisture from absorbing my hair strands.:p
