Amino acids are called the building blocks of protein which make up all living things. All amino acids contain Carbon (C ), Nitrogen (N ), oxygen (O ), Hydrogen (H ) and some amino acids contain Sulfur. Our bodies can produce most amino acids needed to create the proteins that makes up our cellular structure. However certain amino acids the body cannot produce are called essential amino acids and must be derived from sources from outside our bodies through are regular diet.

Essential amino acids

Histidine
Isoleucine
Lysine
Methionine
Phenylalanine
Threonine
Tryptophan Valine
Pertaining to the structure of hair and nails specific amino acids are essential for the development and growth of healthy hair and nails. There are 20 amino acids that comprise what is called hard keratin protein which is what the hair and nails consist of. This type of keratin protein is rich in the sulfur bearing amino acids. Some of these sulfur bearing amino acids are considered essential while the others can be manufactured by our bodies and aren't needed from outside sources. Without the sulfur bearing amino acids are bodies cannot develop strong healthy hair and nails.

Sulfur bearing Amino Acids

Methionine----essential
Cysteine-------non-essential
Cystine--------non-essential
Glutathione---non-essential
The amino acid cysteine is the most important amino acid needed for the development of strong healthy beautiful hair.

Thanks for the info, L-Cysteine is definately needed for hair growth. I feel that's what gave me the most growth along with other things.
