Apl\bsb 2019 Challenge

Still in twists, but I do believe I'm coming out of my extreme hair laziness. I will braid soon if not this night. Good news is that my 2020 regimen and product list is complete!

Eta: braids done! 12/1 5am. I wasn't kidding about getting out of laziness. I started at midnight. They had to be done by tomorrow so I stop looking crazy. That's always a motivator lol

Struggled with a cold the entire holiday, so didn't straighten my hair. Not sure when I will straighten it. Doing my hair now but going to keep it simple. Going to wash with cleansing conditioner, DC, oil, condition, air dry a bit, apply leave-in, air dry a bit. Then I will twist and sit under the dryer so my hair isn't wet for hours.

I will probably create the new thread this upcoming weekend.

1. sorry! I hope you got well and soon get the energy back that illness knocks out!

2. Life of a kinky curl. Straightening just never seems as important as a dc lol

3. Woo hoo! 2020 is on the horizon! We'll all be older but closer to length goals!

I think that I would bun more often if I didn't have the wackiest edges. My hair's straight with 4b edges that won't lay no matter what I do. It's a look  . I did get a cute bun when I did it on wet hair, but I'm afraid of the tension causing breakage.

Sunday after church:

Prepoo - NG Rose Clay Mask mixed with evoo and avg
Rinse - Creme of Nature ACV Clarifying Rinse
Shampoo - Joico Moisture recovery Shampoo
Protein DC - Amika Triple Rx Mask
Moisture DC - Kerastase Chroma Riche mixed in with Kerastase Oleo-Relax Mask
Leave-in - Mielle Organics Pomegranate & Honey
M/S - Much later with Dudley's PCA Moisture Retainer sealed with a combination of Nairobi Vita-Sheen Hairdress and Shea Butter

I have received msm powder and vitamin c. I tried it with water yesterday. It was gross, but I'm happy I know that. I'll be adding it to orange juice but wouldn't that be too much vitamin c? How much vitamin c do I need. I took 1 tsp msm and I was fine at least yesterday when I started it. I was supposed to start with 1/8. I forgot.

This weekend I will be doing a full wash day. I'll save my color for after Christmas Day so I'll have to wear full wigs until then.

Here's my regimen:

-Prepoo - NG Rose Clay Conditioner
-Rinse with Creme of nature Apple Cider Vinegar
-Shampoo Joico Moisture Recovery
-Protein Treatment - Amika Triple Rx Mask
-Moisture Treatment - a combination of Kerastase Chroma Riche and Kerastase Olea-Relax Conditioners
-Leave-in - Redken Extreme Anti-Snap
-M/S later with Dudley's Moisture Retainer and sealed with BM Grease/Shea Butter mix.

Took 1 tsp msm with orange juice this evening. I considered purchasing hairfinity, but I won't. Instead I'll finish my daily vitamin that I need anyway, my msm powder, vitamin c, biotin, and b12... mainly because I already own a ton of vitamins. I think I have enough for the whole of next year. At least 6 months

I think that is a good idea to use up what you have.

I probably should put in two strand twist over the holiday but um, I'm not sure I'm feeling it. I think I will try at least 1 new flat twist or cornrow style.

I had a good hair week this week. Whatever I did with my regimen worked well. When I took out my flat twist, my hair was still moisturized. It was greasy but it was moisturized. I just added some Carol's Daughter Styling Foam to each twist and put it back into flat twist.

I am finally over my cold, so I will start DCing Thursday night and flat iron Friday or Saturday. I thought my flat iron was in the storage unit after I moved but I found it in the shed. I wasn't feeling buying another flat iron. I need to plug it up and make sure it works.

I have gained at least a little length. When I pull my flat twist back I can braid them in the back. Whatever extra length I have though makes my hair look fuller but not longer.

I’m slowly taking my braids out. I know i won’t finish tonight and won’t have a chance to do it tomorrow. I probably will get them all out Wednesday depending on work.

I intend on washing and doing my final length check for the year.

@faithVA Thank you for making the 2020 challenge! And I'm excited to see your progress pics!

I made it 2 weeks with my straightened hair, but this junk is dry :look:. I'll wash today and put it in a wet bun since I don't feel like flatironing right now. I saw a couple people I haven't seen in a bit, and got comments about how long my hair is! It's nice when others can clearly see your progress.

@faithVA fuller always seems to come right before longer, so hopefully this is your sign of upcoming length! Fullness alone is as beautiful as length

@shawnyblazes at least you'll be in time for the end of year photo. May the length be with you lol
Thank you for the encouragement. I know fullness comes before length. I think I'm mentally trying to keep my expectations realistic and get ready in case my hair looks the same to me. Sometimes I feel like this hair has beaten me down.

You are welcome. I'm looking forward to getting it over with.

I think my boyfriend will enjoy the straight hair. Each year I wear my hair out less and less.
