3. Reply to the following:
  1. What is your current length? My hair is layered but its about APL
  2. What is your end of challenge goal length? I would like to reach BSL
  3. What styles will you be wearing? Currently I wear two strand twists for a week at at time, but I'm considering starting the year with a set of kinky twists to give myself a break.
  4. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair while it is protected. While it's in twist I generally moisturize and seal once a week, between wash days. I've also started using Networks 21. It will be the same if I style my hair in two strand twist or kinky twists.
  5. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair between styles. If I get kinky twists I will wash my hair and do a protein treatment in preparation. Weekly I will prepoo, wash and deep condition my hair. I will also try to do a light protein treatment once a week and a strong protein treatment once a month.
  6. Anything else you'd like to share? Not that I can think of

  1. What is your current length?
    BSL

  2. What is your end of challenge goal length?
    WL
  3. What styles will you be wearing?
Wet buns and wash and go buns

  4. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair while it is protected.
I will moisturize daily with a moisturizing spritz without taking the bun down and I will seal with either vit E oil or my DIY shea butter cream, then slick the bun down with aloe vera gel (bottled)

For the spritz I will probably rotate between bay leaf tea and caffeine, Xcel 21, an ayurvedic tea (might include amla, brahmi, bhringraj, hibiscus, and fenugreek)

  5. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair between styles.
Oil rinse, wash or cowash, DC, LOC and style

Unofficial Challenger Here. I will be taking my hair down every 4 to 5 days versus 7. I just want to hang out.

  1. What is your current length? SL
  2. What is your end of challenge goal length? BSB
  3. What styles will you be wearing? Flat twists primarily and two strands every now and then
  4. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair while it is protected. I don't do anything with my hair while in flat twist. I just put on a bonnet at night.
  5. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair between styles. My hair comes down, gets washed and put back up. Leaving my hair out for any amount of time is a chore.
  6. Anything else you'd like to share? Not at this time.

Today I washed and styled my hair into 4 plaits. I skipped using gel and hope I'll get less build up without it so I can stretch my wash day to 2 weeks. I'll bun or ponytail my braids throughout the week.

I've been meaning to try Repair Me. I think I tried to get some Curl Junkie products and Sally's and they were sold out and I never tried again. Gotta readd that to my list. I'm still searching for my holy grail protein.

I used to really like Duo Tex. But they don't make it any more. Aphogee 2 step is a stand by for me.
If you find one you like, let me know.

  1. What is your current length? Wsl
  2. What is your end of challenge goal length? Hl

  4. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair while it is protected. DC/wash every 2 weeks, keep hair in 10 to 20 (depends how lazy I am) braids or twists. Moisturize and seal every few days. Moisturize and rebraid after a full week.
  5. Give a brief synopsis of how you willcare for your hair between styles. See above. 20171215_052630.jpg

You saying I’m BSB just put a huge smile on my face. I’m on the bigger side, so I can’t really see my bones clearly, so I just decided to stick with getting to BSL. Thanks for letting me know.
I think you are BSL. If you are focusing on your bra, you will be MBL. It looks like you wear it really low. I say just focus on MBL for the year! Back to lurking now...lol

I think I’m well enough to wash my hair...at least I hope I am. I don’t have to leave the house for a few days. I’m trying to think of any errands I need to run, so I can do them today after I leave this training for work. Length pic finally coming tonight. I’m so ready to install these faux locs.

  1. What is your current length? APL
  2. What is your end of challenge goal length? BSL
  3. What styles will you be wearing? Two strand twists under my wigs
  4. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair while it is protected. Spraying my hair with the jane carter leave in spray, followed with the mane choice butter, followed with an oil
  5. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair between styles. I'll be going to a salon to get the twists redone every three weeks
  6. Anything else you'd like to share? Right before Christmas I cut my hair from bsl to apl (my shortest layers) so my hair can be all one length. Hoping to get it back to bsl by the end of the challenge.
I'll have to add my starting pic once I take the twists out.

This week I had to postpone getting marley twist because of the weather. However I wore braid for the week. I'm going to use some of my cheat days to wear a braid out. Then I'll try to get marley twists next week.

I'm still here... I promise. Life has just been kicking my behind lately. Between being sick, working two jobs and trying to get into a master's program I haven't had much time for hair. I've been in a bun for weeks. Haven't washed my hair since before Christmas. I still feel like crap and working almost every day or having to submit paperwork and essays and go collect recommendation letters....it's wearing me down. But there's light at the end of the tunnel.

I plan on doing a light finger detangler and moisturizing session today. Then I'll go back into a bun. Hoping I can do something with my hair in the next week or so.

  1. hat is your current length? MBL?
  2. What is your end of challenge goal length? Waist Length
  3. What styles will you be wearing? Mini or Medi-Twists for three weeks
  4. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair while it is protected. I will use Xcel 21 nightly on my scalp. I will remoisturize with SM Hair Milk or JBCO Leave-in every 2-3 days. I will also spray with African Royale Braid Spray nightly. I will wash and DC every three weeks and steam.
  5. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair between styles. Twist out for no more than 2 days. Wash, condition, steam, braid and airdry. I will wear in a bun to stretch for 2-3 days and then twist.
  6. Anything else you'd like to share? Henna every 2 months.

@Alta Angel I’m sliding smooth right behind you & getting in this challenge because it falls right in line with the twist, bun braid thread ummm... not sure if it’s active still.
Getting a professional blowout and trim next Tuesday so excited!
I drew a line in my pic for WL based on where my waist dips in, which doesn’t seem that far off

  1. What is your current length? BSL
  2. What is your end of challenge goal length? MBL
  3. What styles will you be wearing? Medium twists, buns, goddess crown twist or braid, horizontal French roll from Fusion of Cultures
  4. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair while it is protected. Moisture daily as needed incorporating Ayurveda powders in wash day and daily care
  5. Give a brief synopsis of how you will care for your hair between styles. Same as above
  6. Anything else you'd like to share? I have to try to massage my scalp at least twice weekly<— this never happens so I have to do better. Also, formulating a light oil with stimulating properties I can use twice weekly that doesn’t cause buildup. CP oil is too thick and I get a clogged scalp quickly.

I decided not to switch up my flat twist style just yet. I will wear this for a few more weeks or until I can't stand it anymore whichever comes first.
