Hey All,

So after the great results :yay: that I got from the 2 in 4 (end of 2011) challenge (thanks Krystle~Hime), I wanted to start another one for those who are interested. If you would like to join, click the thanks button and give us a little introduction of yourself. Info you might want to include:

1. Starting pic (highly recommended)
2. Regimen
3. Long and/or short term goals

I'm in:yep: I'm aiming for WL in 2013 so any little pushes along the way will help. I'll check in with what I'm up to....I'm pondering a trim BUT I believe in lead hairs so maybe I'll just hang tough for a while:look:

I'm in. Wasn't successful last time because I had to do a lot of trimming. But I have a new attitude for 2012.

Starting pic (highly recommended) [Will post tonight]

Regimen
I alternate regimens every other week.

Week 1:
Apply Castor Oil blend to scalp and scalp massage
DC with AO GPB on dry hair. Let sit 30 minutes and rinse
Wash with Terressentials Mud wash and let sit for 1 hour.
Optional: DC with AO White Camellia for at least 30 minutes under a heat cap.
Apply a Leave-in. Let hair air dry until 80% dry and reapply leave-in.
Twist, braid or bun

Long and/or short term goals
I want to reach APL by June 2012 and BSB by December 2012.

Healthy hair journey history
I've been natural since 2004 or 2005 but started my hair journey after joining LHCF in August 2010

I wore my hair in a TWA until January 2009 when I shaved it.
I let it grow out just using Sta Sof Fro and then I started wearing wigs while it grew out.
I then move up to comb coils, then cornrows with extensions, then box braids and then kinky twists. My hair was growing but I didn't know how to take care of my hair with the kinky twists. I also colored my hair to hide the gray. So when I took out the kinky twists in the summer of 2010, my hair was dry and brittle. It would matt badly, and I had a host of other problems.

I spent most of 2011 figuring out my hair and my regimen. I also did a lot of trimming to get rid of the damaged hair and ends. I also realized that my crown was damaged so I have been working on that. Despite all of that I have been able to reach SL despite myself.

2012 will be the first year where I will really be able to track my progress. I really think this will be a good hair year for me. :yep:

I think I can handle a short challenge, so I'm in!

Starting pic (in case I change my siggy):

picture.php

Short term goal: Full MBL by my birthday near the end of April

Long term goal: Full Hip Length by the end of 2013

Hair history:

I relaxed off and on for 20+ years. I wore a collar-bone-length bob for most of those years, but I wore my hair in ponytails, buns and french twists most of that time.
I'm near the end of a 3 1/2 year transition and would like to grow as much as possible, so that when I BC later this year, I will be waist length. I need 4.5 or 5 inches until WL. 6 inches to full WL.

Regimen:

Co-wash 2X/week with a variety of conditioners (my hair isn't picky)
Leave in some condish
Seal with grapeseed oil
Buns 90% of the time
Blowdry/flatiron once every 6 - 8 weeks
Egg mixed with condish before each straightening session (the only time I DC anymore)

i don't think i have ever seen a back as flawless as that! waw

im innnnnnnn baybe, just need to wait for my blimmin expired nioxin to arrive, and i am in bussiness.

sorry for the gigantic starting pic

img-1991.html

regimen: sunday wash day (anti breakage pantene shampoo + conditioner). apply frizz ease night serum over night, smother in jojoba oil monday morning/afternoon depending on effect of serum over night. repeat next sunday

long term goal: being able to trim frequently and still have long hair

short term goal: get long hair, so i can start trimming

history: never knew about transitioning, so shaved like a mad woman back 09. now at APL, as per siggy

Ya, I'm so excited you guys joined. :yay: I worried that I would be by myself. :spinning:

So as for me, here goes.
Regimen: I'm a KISS girl. I wash weekly, conditioner only (right now I'm trying DevaCare One Conditioner) Then I add more conditioner to my hair to detangle with my denman. Lastly I style into some sort of PS (bun, twist, twist out).

Goals: My long term goal is TBL. After that I want to work on my ends, thickening and maintaining with regular trims.

HHJ history: Back in Aug 2006 I BC'd my hair down to 1 inch. I've been growing ever since and learning lots here on the board.

I'm envying that length, girl!

Decided to go back to DCing at least every 2 weeks. I haven't noticed any change in the condition of my hair since I stopped DCing, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, since it's winter and the air is dry.

I'm DCing with Pantene Dry to Moisturized mixed with Greek Yogurt and grapeseed oil. I'll rinse it in an hour or so. I guess I'll just bun it after that...

Are you still coloring or letting the greys come in?

No its going to be a long time before I willingly let the greys come in. I am probably about 30% grey right now. I am using a mixture of henna and cocoa to color my hair right now. I had to let go of the commercial colors. My hair is just too dry naturally to deal with them.

@faithVA

That's too bad - I really like grey hair and thought I'd be getting some grey-porn soon!

Well not from me  I would willingly give you mine. I like grey hair too on someone else

But naw it messes up my look. Especially when it comes to taking pictures. :nono:

When I can no longer cover it, I will then just let it be. Hopefully that will hold off at least until I am 60.

Helllooooo - anybody here???

Today I'll co-wash with HELTR mixed with grapeseed oil and seal with a little Crisco. Then back up into a bun. Yeah, exciting.

Let me try to stay active in here and stay motivated.

DCd and twisted with AO GPB last night. Sealed my ends with unpetroleum jelly. Wearing curled 2 strand twists in the front and the back is in a bun. My ends feel pretty good so hopefully I will be able to retain my 2".

I'm super excited about this challenge but I am seriously feeling like a Challenge junkie! However, the challenges that I am in are what I SHOULD be doing anyway. Count me in and I will post the answers to the questions when I get home tonight.

Clarify washed yesterday, aphogee 2 minute, and over night dc. While the DC was in my hair i put my hair in 24 secure braids. This morning i will put foil on the tips of the braids and put a hot flatiron over the tips to help the DC intensely penetrate my ends because they were feeling like brillo pad. Then i will let the dc air dry on my hair and seal. Leave it like that for the rest on the week.

Tagging along, Dee Raven please add me! Had success last quarter...be back with pics and starting info. I will get my full 2 inches this time!!!

Regimen (I welcome advice on areas of improvement)
Weekly: Cowash and/or DC
Twice a month: Pre-poo, poo
Daily: Spritz, moisturize, & seal

Long and/or short term goals - I want to be full SL by December 2012 and ultimately BSL. I am concentrating on my rough ends and thin edges. Overall, I'm not as concerned with length as I am with the state/health of my hair.

Healthy hair journey history - I made the decision to stop relaxing after a stylist damaged my nape...broke it all off in 2010. I changed my products to rid myself of sulfates, parabens, and cones. I wore braids for the most part of 2010 and first part of 2011. Proud to say that I grew my nape back - it wasn't enough for the braider to catch in the beginning and by August 2010 she could!!!!The two textures were challenging for me so I chopped it off in May 2011. Best decision! I love being natural, my hair is pretty much healthy and growing nicely.

I want in! I just flat ironed my hair this weekend so I have some good starting pics :yep: I'll have to post them later because I'm at work now.

Okay since I will cutting off half my hair off tomorow due to split ends and SSKs, this will be the perfect challenge for me. Please add me! I will have to post my new start pic after I've had my hair cut.

Funny thing is though, I am actually excited about the cut because I did it before and grew mad healthy hair until I screwed it all up by trying this and trying that on my hair.

I tell you, I am done experimenting with my hair. KISS is all I look forward to from here on out.

For the next 2 years, I will be mostly PSing with wigs and buns, adhering diligently to my vitamin regimen, exercising, increasing my water intake, scalp massages about twice a week, and keeping my ends heavily sealed in some kind of pomade or Jamaican Black Castor Oil.

Still wearing the back of my hair in a bun and the front in 2 strand twists. Getting two more inches would be fantastic. I can have an even bigger and better bun :yep: I'm excited.

How'd I miss this! I'm in.

Here's my regimen...which I recently updated

Whenever I mention any kind of conditioning, I'm using aubrey organics (honeysuckle rose, GPB or white camellia)

Wear my hair in large twists/braids or two flat twists that I do in shower under running water and then pin up the ends out of the shower. Redo twists/braids once or twice a week

Rinse & condition hair in twists/braids most days... under a stocking cap (so as not to disturb the style too much)

DC & oil rinse 1-2x a week

Baggy or GHE most days

Spray hydrolyzed keratin once a week (before one of the DCs)

Spray water/castor oil when I feel like it

finger detangle in shower once a week or so.

Bentonite clay cleanse every few weeks. Sulfate free/natural shampoo when I think I need inbetween.

I bun all winter. Wash once a week with CON and use alphagee 2 min. protein and NTM deep conditioner. After washing I apply HS 14-1 and alphagee tea tree protien leave in.
