Relaxer Stretching CHALLENGE!

Checking in:
I'm currently 10 or 11 weeks post and I am salivating for a relaxer. :lovedrool:

I won't do it but I WANT TO!!!!

I am shedding like a dog. I'm cowashing and DC but I'm afraid I may move my relaxer date up to Aug 1-5, 2008.

Sigh. My hair is getting tired. I have a bushel of new growth in the middle .. half of that in the back, and none in the front.:perplexed

I've been cowashing it up, DC'ing weekly, and doing braidouts.

Two more weeks until I relax or texlax.......:yay:

I can't wait! My next stretch will be even longer now that I am confident I can do it!!!

ORS Replenishing Conditioner, Mango Butter on my NG, and Kids Organic Shea Butter Detangler have been my hair's saving grace this week!!!

It's been a hard 4 months.....well worth it though!!!

Okay I'm in! Here's my Stretching Challenge stats:

-Hair Type: 4B

-Current Status: 3 DAYS POST

-Last Stretch Time: 26 Weeks 4days

-Original Stretch Goal: 20 WEEKS

-New Relaxer Stretch Challenge Goal: 24 Weeks

-Potential Relaxer Date: JAN 14, 2009

-Stretching Advice To Share: Protective styling helps to retain length any1 that works best for you, weaves, braids, cornrows, Moisturise always and co-washes helps greatly too.

-Stretching Advice Needed: I wanna know if anyone is stretching without using protective styles in the form of weaves or wigs. What's the best protein treatment to use when you have over 1'' of NG?

:lachen:

I have ng on the sides of my head, near my ears. Nowhere else :ohwell: WTH is that about? :lachen:

How exciting!!! :pepper: I'll bet your progress is gonna be amazing!

How's the shedding? I was gonna recommend ORS pack, cause it helps with shedding, but I see you already use it.

I'm doing nothing but buns. Bun cages, bun snoods, doughnut buns, cinnamon buns, buns, buns, buns!

I think a light-medium protein like Motions CPR or ORS Mayo would be good. They're creamy and don't dry you hair or make it hard :yep:

I'm 2 weeks post. I plan to start stretching my touch ups to 16 weeks, so that equals out to just 3 touch ups a year. Between co-washing, steaming and using my regular conditioner as a leave in, it will be a cakewalk.

I'm in, my last relaxer was May 23rd, exactly 8 weeks ago. My longest stretch time was 6 weeks, so we're shooting for August 8th - 12 weeks. I'm ready.:bouncegre

Just an update.. I've decided to extend my stretch with braids (extensions) because I really want to grow out my awkward length before I get a trim.

So here are the new stats:

Current Status: 10 weeks post

Last (Healthy) Stretch Time: 6 Weeks

Original Stretch Goal: 12 Weeks

New Relaxer Stretch Challenge Goal: 20 weeks

Potential Relaxer Date: October 17, 2008

How's everyone doing?

I'm on week 6, 11 weeks to go and it's smoothing sailing. So far :look:

Still co washing 5 x's a week and dc'ing 2 x's a week. Hair's plenty moisturized, so the little newgrowth I have is easy to handle :yep:

Would you be comfortable doing your own hair? You can try practicing applying conditioner with a relaxer brush. If it would make you feel more comfortable, you could also get one of those 360 degree mirrors, so you can see everything :yep:

360 degree mirrors? Where?

I really need to stay off this board....:perplexed

I am at 10 wks post and I have two more weeks left. Bunning and the co-wash has helped me tremendously. I dusted my ends yesterday.started to extend the stretch but I'll wait until the next stretch. Dh is tired of seeing my hair in a bun, he likes to be able to have his hands in my hair during those "special" times.

Tiffers, I didn't see this challenge when it was first posted but I am definitely in!!

Current Status: 13 weeks post (as of tomorrow)

Last (Healthy) Stretch Time: 12 Weeks

Original Stretch Goal: Don't know....I was going to let my hair tell me when

New Relaxer Stretch Challenge Goal: 33 weeks

Potential Relaxer Date: December 19, 2008

What's with the odd number? Why not 16 or 18? Maybe I'm just a tad OCD-things always have t/b done in even numbers for me...:look:

I will do my best for someone like myself that gets one every 5weeks to the day! My goal is September 16th. I don't want to be forever banned so I am going to try. But seriously anything past 5weeks I would be doing well. Wish me luck!

I think it's the walll mountable mirror that you can use to see the back of your head. I found one at Big Lots for under $20.00 but they are at Home Depot too.

IM IN!!!

Current Status: 30 Weeks I think. My last relaxer was December 29,2007

Last (Healthy) Stretch Time: I use to stretch every three months

Original Stretch Goal: Don't know..Until I felt like getting a relaxer

New Relaxer Stretch Challenge Goal: One full year(52 weeks) I thinking about getting some braids to help me get to a full year.

Potential Relaxer Date: January 1,2009

5 weeks post, trying for 22 weeks. I want a fresh relaxer when I go on vacation instead of dealing with the NG. Doing MT so if I make it the whole way I expect to see great things! :lachen:

I am getting bored with my hair! I have been wearing buns and phony ponies for the past 2 weeks. I am 10 weeks post and my hair is doing pretty good. I am suprised because the last time I stretched, my hair was a tangled mess around wk 10. I found that rinsing my hair with my back facing the shower and my head facing the ceiling, is helping me manage. I have not combed my hair in 2 weeks. I rinse daily with Lanza detangler. Rinse, bun, rinse, bun, DC, rinse, rinse bun.........that's my weekly cycle. Here is a pic:

Yes, it is very realistic. Some people have stretched for a year! About the combs, I honestly can't remember the last time I combed my new growth when it wasn't wet and conditioned, or being combed with a shower comb.

:yep: At most I use a wide tooth bone comb.

Kewl. Thanks!

Checking in..

12 Weeks post. I can see my dermarc line loud and clear now. Hair is alot softer this stretch. I don't know what it is cause i keep switching up my reggie.

I like touching my naps though. I find myself rubbing my NG and feeling the waves...Especially in the crown of my head where the NG is the most dense. I just stick my finger in there and rub against the waves.

Yeah i need to go natural. One day...

I found a cheapie hair piece yesterday @ the BSS. I am getting so bored with my hair, I almost relaxed yesterday! I plan to wear this to keep up my sexy! The pic of the braid out fall is below.

Girl that looks good. I can't even tell its a hair piece. How do falls work? You clip it in or something? And how do you get your edges to lay down so well?

It looks like you holding up pretty well according to those pics.
