My picture was STOLEN and used in testimonial!

@NikStar is on there too. i think i've drooled over her hair enough to pick it out of a line up.:look:

OMG!! That is her! I knew I recognized that picture!!! Before Fotki crashed, I stalked that album twice a week.

ETA: The second before and after, the third and fifth befores all belong to members here also.

I'm sorry that this happen to you. I hope that they respond quickly and do what is right. Legal action sounds like it is the most appropriate solution.

I know people don't like to show their faces on Fotki but it would be easy to steal pics off Facebook or any other site that posts pictures. Unfortunately if someone wants something then they will go to any means to get it.

I recognise a few heads from here. :( it's such an audacity, did they think that folks wouldn't find out? I'm assuming the book isn't on Amazon, we could have told ladies the truth, I hope people aren't duped into buying it.

If I were you I would have contacted every well known station listed next to as seen on Etc. And then looked into suing for whatever proceeds made so far.

wow, thats scary. every. single. picture. looks familiar... i know half (if not all) of them are members of this site.

whoever the "Latoya W." one is, i think those are two different girls, both whom look like i've seen them here... i just cant quite remember who.

i hope they take that mess down and pay for that, and i hope that other victims are alerted.

i was just thinking of restarting my fotki next week, but now i'm thinking not to.

As seen on the BBC, yeah right! And then she has the nerve to say this:-

The results you see and read are real. These are not gimmicks or the fake hair models you see in magazines

Unbelievable!

More then likely my picture was taken from this site. I was worried about getting a virus or trojan so I stayed off Fotki until about 2 days ago. Thats when I finally uploaded my picture there.

I am so upset I don't know what to do...

person cud even b a member here. What are the odds that so many pics are of LHCF members ???????

another tell would be how many of the before and after pictures have different cameras. i know i have the same camera 99% of the time when i'm taking progression shots.

also, how they take the pictures looks different (over the head shot, camera to side of head shots, having someone else or camera on tripod shots), making me believe that many of the befores and afters are from 2 different sources. usually i see a trend with people taking their pictures the same way (like for me, when i'm taking a back shot, i position my camera above the head or to the side most of the time).

whoever they are did a convincing job of matching befores to afters based on skin and body type... they had to had gone thru many different fotkis and picked out their shots and matched the similarities to others. but if you really know about these things, you can almost tell that many of the models are different people.

this is crazy.

The forth row (before pic) on the same side as the OP is Reecies hair when she first started her healthy hair journey. Wow when I post my updated pics I am going to remove them within a week. I am also going to only allow certain people in. My hair may not be all that but if it going to be used I want to be compensated for it.

Well first off you can send them an email at [email protected] and let them know that you are upset that they took ur pic, and other members pics. Demand them to take down our pics and threaten legal action if they don't. I don't know about you, but I'm serious about this and ready to sue their pants off if need be.

I don't even want compensation for them to keep my pic up. That would be wrong because I didn't read the book to get results. I just want our pics taken down!

I just sent them an email letting them know that I am aware they have stolen my picture and other ladies from this site. I told them to remove my picture and that I was gonna take legal action against them.
I am with you on this. I am lost and don't know what else to do.

I recognize some of those other pics too. Your pics aren't the only ones she's stolen.

And how is she doing a book on hair growth with that horrible looking weave she has?

oh, the link must have been down earlier. i see now and yes, i recognize a lot of those heads of hair.... tragic *tisk tisk tisk*

Honey I don't like the "DR's" smile. She looks fake and the sucess stories are so fabricated. If they took the time to steal pics they should have stole some good testimonials as well.

That's a damn shame. I'm sorry this happened to you ladies. I would contact my news station on their behinds asap.

In addition to the advice you've been given so far, I would also file a report on Ripoff Report | Scams, Frauds, Reviews And Consumer Complaints.. It's a consumer advocacy website where people can file all types of complaints against companies &/or individuals who have harmed or wronged them.

The great thing about RipoffReport.com is that it consistently ranks #1 or #2 on google searches, so whenever anyone does a search for this website, your complaint will also appear.

Just remember to include all of the pertinent information regarding the company in the complaint title- website name, book author, registered domain owner, etc. - because these all become key words that will show up during the google search.

I'm sorry this happened to you!

Personal pictures are automatically copyright protected by law, you do not have to register them. He is a thief and scammer and I wouldn't let him get a way with this.

1.send a 'cease & desist' email to both of his sites [email protected] AND [email protected] and demand that he removes your pix due to copy right volation, within 24 or 48 hrs.

2.If he won't remove them, then report him to the ISP/webhost, which for this site I believe is godaddy.com. They will shut the site down. You can file a complain at: copyrightclaimsgoaddy.com.

3.If for some reason that does not work, contact flicker/fotki. I'm not sure what their copyright protection policy is though.

4. NOW, if that doesn't work here is his name, address and phone number:
James, Trentton
4019 s 44th street
phoenix, Arizona 85040
United States
(602) 454-1414
<--- I called the number, there was no answer but it rang.

I googled his name and the 'twistedbooks' email addy, and he has posts all over the web on various online forums asking for advice on his 'electronic book' business and how to get more traffic to his site.

That book has never been featured on those mags/news stations and I believe the Dr. nuevo is just a fake alias to make the book look more credible.
