What\'s the difference?

How can you tell if a relaxer is too strong for your hair,,, and Can you use a lye relaxer with colored hair? Is there a big differnce between Lye and N0 lye

Re: What\'s the difference?

If you do a search on this topic you should be able to find something. apparently for most people lye is harsher on the scalp but better for the hair. No-lye is more drying to the hair, most pp. get a shinier, stronger result using a lye relaxer. Search and you should be able to find more details.

Hi Nikki,

Just as Umsumayyah said, the no-lye relaxer dries the hair out more than the lye relaxer. There are those that use a no-lye with no problem and others that get excessively dry hair with it. Each persons'experiences will be different.

For me, a relaxer is too strong for my hair if 5-10 minutes into the process my hair is bone straight before it can be smoothed with a comb. I don't like my hair bone straight. I like to have some body.
